1966 Cadillac Fleetwood 75 4-door Sedan on 2040-cars
Massapequa, New York, United States
The time has come for one of the fleet to set sail to a new port. Not enough time for it in the busy day to day of ole Captain Cadillac has made this rare diamond in the rough of the sideroads available for you to buy...
1966 Cadillac Fleetwood 75 Sedan
Indeed, this rare car has seen better days but time has not completely taken this car out of the game. This model is one of 2 types of factory stretched limo, this one being the 9 passenger family sedan type. This car has no divider window and the interior scheme is same from front compartment to rear as opposed to the chauffer compartment up front being basic black leather trim. These were low production cars (only 989 of these made) that cost $10k+ when brand new (equal to that of a new Rolls Royce of the time).
This car left the factory with a Silver exterior and a gray silk cloth interior. Factory stardard options were power windows, automatic front and rear climate control, load leveling rear air shocks, 2-way power front bench seat, solid walnut wood paneling and fold out rear jump seats. This car was originally delivered to California and had (I repeat HAD) emissions controls. I aquired this car a few years ago with the intent of parting it out but upon examination of it, found it was too solid of a car to tear apart. I was going to restore it but time has been too scarce for me to devote to it.
THE GOOD The body and frame are super solid with the only rust hole being one in the passenger fender near the bottom where nearly all Cadillacs of the time rotted out. The driver side is solid. Even the trunk mount brackets are intact as is the floor pans and trunk pan. Any other rust on the car is surface rust. All the glass is in perfect condition. The motor runs currently (just needs a good tune up). Newer carb and radiator. The car is 90% complete and the only Fleetwood 75 specific parts that are missing are the center body side trim. Anything else is common to 1966 models and can be acquired from the thousands of parts cars available (as opposed to the 2000 or so total Fleetwood 75s). Tires are newer and look to have 80% thread life left. Power Seat and all 4 power windows work Wipers work. Ignition, doors and trunk lock all keyed to the same key which I have (trunk lock cylinder is in the glove box as the trunk emblem assembly was broken and removed). Fleetwood 75 specific chrome like the rear quarter window surrounds are in great condition with just age fade and little to no pitting (one year only parts). The rear a/c unit in the trunk is 95% complete (just missing a vacuum master switch, which is a common part found on all 65-68 Cadillacs with a/c). I have a CLEAN, New York State Transferrable Registration in my name for the car (1973 and earlier cars had no title in NYS, the registration is the title and can be signed over to the next owner, hence transferrable. After 1973, titles were issued and the registrations were marked NON-Transferrable).
The BAD The brakes are very soft and need work. The body at one point was painted sky blue and then when it started flaking, was painted over in places with house paint and a roller. On a lighter note, whoever roller painted the car ended up painting over the chrome trim in a few spots which actually helped protect it. Although the body is solid and primarily rust free, the rear doors and quarters have bondo work covering over wavy sheetmetal (prior owners must have rubbed the back side of the car against quite a few garage posts in it's life). The front grille and bumper center are cracked up in quite a few spots and are trash. The bumper corners are solid though and can be straightened out. A replacement center bumper is included and in the trunk as well as a straight lower passenger front bumper corner (just not pictured). The rear bumper was total trash beyond repair and removed. So, there is no rear bumper at all. The lower valance panel under the bumper is included and in the trunk. I also have a good used rear center bumper I will include (not pictured). Exhaust piping was rotted and was removed, so no exhaust system beyond the manifolds. The HVAC piping from the front to rear was missing. I purchased a full set of the a/c hoses (specific to 75s) for the front and rear as well as the pipe ends for all pipes. Just braze the pipe end with fittings to some new straight copper tubing for all the hot water and a/c lines to be back together. All the a/c lines and copper pipes are in the trunk. The interior seats are dried up and need to be fully reupholestered. The foam is turning to dust and the silk cloth is shredded. The worst door panel is the driver side front needing some cardboard panel work and the armrest redone. The rest are pretty nice and one I cleaned up and restored in dark blue (rear driver side shown in pics) Lots of the chrome trim in and round the car just has dirt and baked on dust but is very bright and clean once cleaned! Little pitting. Known missing parts : Antenna, rear bumper corners, master window switch and relay, inside rearview mirror, 1 front fender extension, a/c condenser, level ride compressor, a/c compressor, side body trim. There are other missing bits but are common and not 75 specific. Dashpad is missing in the interior pics as the original was shattered beyond restoration BUT I am including one with minimal cracking and a good dashpad sensor grille on it. I can add a pic if requested.
Overall, the car is definately worth saving. It WILL require a good amount of work but it's a very solid base to work with and a rare and beautiful one year only body style. Otherwise, it's an excellent parts car with tons of unique, rare parts. I could easily part it out for triple the starting bid. Hell, the running 429 engine is worth the opening bid alone. I sell Cadillac parts here on eBay and have been for many years. If you're the winning bidder and want to purchase other parts for this car or any other Cadillac you have, you can contact me and we can put together a package deal so that I can just load the additional parts in the car rather than having them shipped separately. Now for the terms... The car is in used condition, accurately described and is sold for PARTS or RESTORATION ONLY. It is not new, restored or in currently driveable condition! It is sold in AS IS condition and the sale is FINAL. Ask any and all questions BEFORE placing a bid! $500 deposit via Paypal is due immediately upon winning the bid. The remainder can be paid in cash on pickup or via Paypal in 7 days. Deposit is NOT refundable! You will lose the deposit if you don't pay in full for the car within 7 days of auction close! I don't care if you changed your mind, your wife is giving you the stink eye, you can't figure out how to get it shipped Denmark, you realize it won't fit into your 10x16 garage etc. The car must be picked up in North Massapequa, NY within 7 days of the auction's end. All arrangements to pick up the car must be made by the BUYER. That includes towing/flatbedding the car and transportation to it's final destination (home, business, shipping terminal etc). Be advised, the car is 21 feet long and will need a long flatbed. It can NOT be driven by any means from this location so don't expect to bring gas/battery and a tool box, start it up and roll. For all intentions and purposes, the brakes are NOT functioning. If you need a little more time to arrange a pickup, you must let me know in advance! As long as the car is fully paid for, I can keep it here a little while longer (by little while, I mean maybe another few days to a week, not months).

GM announces 6 recalls covering nearly 720k cars
Wed, 23 Jul 2014General Motors has announced yet another sprawling recall campaign, with six separate elements covering 717,950 vehicles on US roads. At this point in 2014, it's starting to seem like there are more days with a GM recall than without. Perhaps most troubling about this latest volley, though, is that every vehicle is from the past few years, indicating that GM's quality woes may not be limited to pre-bankruptcy vehicles.
The largest element of this latest campaign covers 414,333 units, and includes the 2011 to 2012 Chevrolet Camaro, 2010 to 2012 Chevy Equinox, GMC Terrain and Cadillac SRX and the 2011 to 2012 Buick Regal and LaCrosse. Only vehicles with powered, height-adjustable seats are covered. In these particular cars and crossovers, the bolt that secures the height adjuster actuator may loosen of its own accord and in some cases fall out completely. If this happens, the seats will be able to move both up and down. GM claims the vehicles are safe to drive, provided drivers don't vertically adjust their seats. This particular issue has caused one crash and three injuries.

Mixed sales results, but automaker stocks rise on need for cars in Houston
Fri, Sep 1 2017DETROIT — The Big Three Detroit automakers on Friday reported better-than-expected August sales and issued optimistic outlooks for demand as residents of the Houston area replace flood-damaged cars and trucks after Hurricane Harvey, sending their stocks higher. General Motors, Ford and Fiat Chrysler posted mixed August U.S. sales, with GM up 7.5 percent and Ford and Fiat Chrysler down. Japanese automaker Toyota improved sales by nearly 7 percent, while Honda fell 2.4 percent. Still, analysts focused on the potential for Detroit automakers to cut inventories and stabilize used vehicle prices as residents of Houston, the fourth largest city in the United States, are forced to replace tens of thousands, perhaps hundreds of thousands, of vehicles after the devastation from Hurricane Harvey. Mark LaNeve, Ford's U.S. sales chief, told analysts on Friday that following Hurricane Katrina in 2005 "we saw a very dramatic snapback" in demand. That said, Ford sales fell 2.1 percent in August. It sold 209,897 vehicles in the United States, compared with 214,482 a year earlier. Sales were down 1.9 percent in the Ford division and off 5.8 percent at Lincoln. Demand was down for cars, crossovers and SUVs. It was not clear how many vehicles in the Houston area will be scrapped, LaNeve said, saying he had seen estimates ranging from 200,000 to 400,000 to 1 million. Ford's Houston dealers may have lost fewer than 5,000 vehicles in inventory, he said. Ford is the No. 1 automaker in the Houston market, with 18 percent share, according to IHS Markit. The company plans to ship used vehicles to Houston dealers and has "every indication we would have to add some production" of new vehicles to meet demand, LaNeve said. Investor concerns about inventories of unsold vehicles and falling used car prices have weighed on Detroit automakers' shares most of this year. Now, automakers can anticipate a jolt of demand from a big market that is a stronghold for Detroit brand trucks and SUVs. "It's got to be a positive for the industry," LaNeve said. Investors appeared to agree. GM shares rose as much as 3.3 percent to their highest since early March. Ford increased 2.8 percent at $11.34, and Fiat Chrysler's U.S.-traded shares were up 5.2 percent $15.91, hitting their highest in more than five years. GM reported a 7.5 percent increase in U.S. auto sales in August, helped by robust sales of crossovers across its four brands.
Cadillac CT6 shows its face in 2015 Oscars ad [w/video]
Mon, Feb 23 2015Have you been watching the 2015 Oscars? No? Then you've missed your very first look at Cadillac's long-awaited flagship, the imaginatively named CT6. Don't worry folks, we've got the entire spot, titled The Daring: No Regrets, available below. Marking the start of the new Dare Greatly campaign, the 60-second spot will be joined by three others during the Oscars' broadcast, and features a number of unconventional luminaries from the worlds of fashion, finance, technology and film, contrasting their common beginnings with their exceptional accomplishments. It's a powerful spot... and then the CT6 arrives. Asking "How dare a 112-year-old carmaker reinvent itself," a white CT6 is spotted (viewed through what looks like a bad Instagram filter) cruising slowly down a New York (we assume) street. The car itself is big and wide – properly American and Cadillac in its proportions – and features a very handsome evolution of the latest CTS' styling, with a new take on the brand's distinctive headlight and grille design. Have a look at the photo above, watch the ad and let us know what you think of both the commercial and the car that stars in it, down in Comments.
