1961 Cadillac Fleetwood W/ 45k Original Miles No Reserve! on 2040-cars
Fort White, Florida, United States
Up for your consideration is a beautiful 1961 Fleetwood at NO RESERVE. As you can see by the low low miles, this car has been driven very little. As it was told to me it was purchased new in Michigan where it was kept in a heated garage every winter for te first few years of its life until the owners relocated to sunny Florida to retire. That is where the car is and has been ever since. There are very few negatives to speak of about the car. It has some normal wear showing on the driver seat that I just couldnt make myself repair for the sake of retaining its originality. There is a piece of trim that needs a clip on the left rear fender (trim is fine). There is also a small ding in the hood that happened while I had the car that can be repaired very easily and inexpensively. Rear seal has a slight drip (common in old cars). But nothing worth addressing. I had planned on doing a complete repaint and customization of the car, but as I said, I don't think this is the right car for that. I plan to find a more 'seasoned' car to customize and let this one carry on in it's existing form to someone who will appreciate its originality.
Details-
The car smells like a 1961 Caddy inside. Never any smokers. Ashtrays are clean with no indication of ever beeing used. The car is beautiful. The chrome work shines. The doors have no sag or slop. The radio works. The original power antenna goes up and down. Power windows, vent wings and seats work. Car starts and runs beautifully. Steers great. No wander or slop. Motor is quiet. No smoke. No hesitation on accelleration. Idles nice. Radial tires are great. Plenty of rubber. No rot. The original muffler formed a rust hole last month on the way back from Daytona. I replaced the entire exhaust from the manifold to the tailpipe. Don't think anyone has ever sat in the back seat. What a pleasure to drive. This car is like a time capsule. These cars are the reason for the term 'Rides like a Cadillac'. My wifes 2013 doesn't ride this nice. If there is anything I have forgotten to cover, please send me a message and I will gladly respond. If you are in N. Florida and would like to inspect before you bid or purchase, please contact me to set up a date and time that's good for you. I can help deliver the car within a couple hundred miles for a fee that can be worked out before the sale. I obviously can't warranty the car since it's not new, but I am confident it will leave here and take you anywhere you feel like going. Bid with confidence. Ask questions before bidding. I will answer them. $500 deposit due at end of auction. Balance due on or before pickup date. Cash is best. All other forms of payment must clear my bank and be liquid before car leaves my garage. Good luck bidding!
On Mar-28-14 at 17:18:47 PDT, seller added the following information: Also forgot to mention that the original spare with jack and original wooden wheel chock is included. All in great condition. Note the cardboard instructions on the inside of trunk lid is still in perfect shape. Never got wet or damaged in all these years. |

Cadillac confident attitude will attract the elite to ELR plug-in hybrid [w/video]
Mon, Feb 10 2014Cadillac is not going to pull any punches when it comes to promoting its plug-in hybrid ELR. In the real world, the company is showing off the Wreath And Crest's coupe with Chevy Volt technology at exclusive events with "groups whose members are affluent, green-minded and have an appreciation for design and innovation," says Automotive News. That evidently means young Hollywood celebrities and other well-to-do demographics. As Cadillac global chief Bob Ferguson recently told the industry publication, "If you live on the West Coast and you're an architect and you've given to environmental causes, you're probably going to hear about the ELR. We have sliced and diced who is likely to buy this vehicle." "We have sliced and diced who is likely to buy this vehicle" - Cadillac's Bob Ferguson In the realm of advertising, Cadillac evidently thinks a fast-talking, USA-USA-USA! Type-A personality is just the kind of guy who will convince those celebrities and architects to buy one. For proof, look no further than the star of this new ELR ad called Poolside that Cadillac is airing during the Olympics. There are almost no details about the ELR in this ad, just a whole lot of attitude mixed with humor (the "We got bored" line is funny). In fact, there's almost no indication that the ELR is an extended-range hybrid at all. Short of a brief moment where our hero, actor Neil McDonough, unplugs his car from its charging station, you'd probably never know it's got an EV mode at all. That's undoubtedly a calculated bet by Cadillac, whose ad execs have undoubtedly noted that most electric cars are not selling well with an eco-first message, so they appear to be going with style and swagger instead. Scroll below to see what we mean. The ELR has a starting MSRP of $75,000, and at that price, it's already out of reach for most Americans. Automotive News suggests that annual ELR production is likely to be just shy of 5,000 units, so Cadillac could be on stable ground trying to appeal to such a limited number of buyers. What type of buyers? Well, that remains to be seen. Cadillac ELR next EV to get Plugless Power wireless charging tech
Mon, Jul 28 2014Evatran has been testing its Plugless Power wireless charging systems for electric vehicles in the Chevy Volt and Nissan Leaf for years now and made the tech commercially available early this year. With the growth of the EV market, Evatran is getting ready to expand as well. The company announced today that it will add three premium EVs to the Plugless Power system by the end of the year, with the first (and so far only) named model being the Cadillac ELR. We expect it was not difficult for Evatran to adapt the Plugless Power system to the ELR, since the vehicle's powertrain is so similar to the one in the Volt. The main problem we see is that Cadillac has only sold 390 ELRs (as of the end of June), so this first Plugless Power expansion isn't exactly going to ignite sales, even if every ELR owner opts for the cool tech. If one of the next two announcement is for the Tesla Model S, though, then you're talking numbers. Speaking of the future, what models do you think will be next? The Plugless Power L2 wireless systems were recently declared safe by the Intertek and start at $2,470, not including installation or government incentives. All the online/smartphone connectivity features that work with the car when it's got a cord stuck in it work with the L2 system, Evatran says. Orders start today, and the ELR package will be available September 1. There's more, including a local news report on the technology, below. WSLS 10 NBC in Roanoke/Lynchburg Va Wireless Vehicle Charging available to Cadillac ELR owners starting September 1st The Cadillac ELR Joins the Growing List of Compatible Electric Vehicle ("EV") Models from Evatran, the World Leader in High-Power Wireless Charging RICHMOND, VA July 28, 2014 – In an exciting statement today, Evatran Group, Inc. ("Evatran"), announced that its PLUGLESS wireless charging technology would soon be available on the Cadillac ELR. Evatran, the first Company in the world to make wireless charging available to individual EV drivers, currently has systems that are compatible with the Nissan LEAF and Chevrolet Volt. The Cadillac ELR is the first model to be announced in what is intended to be three new premium model announcements by the end of 2014. Evatran will begin accepting advanced orders today for deliveries as soon as September 1st. "The launch of the Cadillac ELR system is an important milestone for us," commented Rebecca Hough, Evatran CEO and Co-Founder.
Cadillac teases production ELR ahead of Detroit Auto Show
Tue, 18 Dec 2012General Motors has just confirmed that the 2014 Cadillac ELR will make its official debut next month at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show. We've already seen the ELR testing earlier this year using the same range-extended electric drive system as the Chevrolet Volt, and based on the shadowy image above, we're happy to see that the coupe's styling has stayed pretty true to 2009 Converj Concept.
The two-door ELR will be built alongside the Volt at GM's Detroit-Hamtramck plant starting later next year. Aside from this info, Cadillac has remained tight-lipped on the specific details of the car. But all that will all change on January 15.
Until then, all we have to offer you is the press release posted after the jump.
