This was recently removed from 39 years of barn storage and is still on a complete factory air suspension system all the way down to the correct air cleaner.  The system would partially air up through the Schrader valve on the expansion tank but currently has wood blocks holding the suspension up.  The engine is totally complete but is stuck, all 4 windows work, the radio plays and the antenna will go up but does not want to go back down.  It has 2 correct hubcaps, all of the trim is there except 2 eyebrows and a few hash marks.  Most of the stainless is good or repairable with the worst damage being on the passenger side rocker molding which has a long deep scrape in it, rear grille is very nice.  Bumpers are straight, the passenger rear end is rusted through and the drivers front upper end is also rusted through in an odd spot.  Body is fairly straight with some dings and a dent in the passenger front fender near the top, visible in pictures, and there is a dent in the drivers rear quarter.  Rust: drivers fender has rust in the bottom and on top next to the hood, all 4 doors are solid both rear quarter appear solid, trunk lid is solid, hood is solid but has some rust on passenger side front lip on the corner under the eyebrow, interior floors as best I can tell are good and solid, trunk floor is solid but has rust on both sides behind the wheel house in the usual spots.  Both rockers have rust with the drivers side being the worst.  Looks like where the car sat on the barn floor with the air suspension being all the way down it took its toll on mainly the rockers.  The interior is in pretty decent shape for its age and appears to have had the dealer installed factory seat covers on it since new so more than likely the original seats are pretty nice, door panels are complete and in decent shape other than being soiled, the original carpet is still intact, dash pad is cracked and the mice have been in the headliner but it is also still intact.  The original owners manual and pouch is still there as well as the jack is in the trunk.  Options include air suspension, air conditioning, Autronic Eye, power vents, power door locks, tinted glass (all the glass is good).

This is a rare and unusual car that needs a full restoration or would make an excellent parts car for an Eldorado.  I have a lot more pictures so send me your email address if you would like to see more.  The car is stored at my home so if someone wants to see it please let me know and we will make arrangements for you to see the car.

Once the auction completes high bidder please send me your PayPal address so I can invoice you for the $300 deposit required within 48 hours of the close of the auction.  Payment must be made in certified funds before the vehicle is picked up and the transaction musty be completed within 30 days.  Car has no brakes but rolls freely so loading should not be an issue.  Transportation is the responsibility of the purchaser.  Over sea's buyers I will be happy to work with brokers for pick up and delivery but will not deliver to a port.  Please only bid if you are seriously interested in buying the vehicle, I don't have time for petty scams.

Ghostbusters director tweets first photos of new Ecto-1

Wed, Jul 8 2015

Ghostbusters is heading back to theaters next year with a new look. Rather than bringing back the original's aging comedic actors, four actresses are taking over the starring roles, including Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones. Although, one of the movie's major highlights is missing from that list – the Ecto-1. Originally based on a 1959 Cadillac ambulance, we're now getting the first glimpses of the decked-out, ghost-hunting wagon from the new version thanks to director Paul Feig on Twitter. Purists might like that the Ghostbusters are sticking with a Caddy, but the producers are going for a slightly newer, more macabre approach, as well. Rather than an ambulance conversion, the latest one starts as a hearse. Feig also has his Twitter profile picture of a ghost taking over as the hood ornament, and he even tweeted a shot of the rear. @szewcik_james Okay. pic.twitter.com/sHkx1Soj6p — Paul Feig (@paulfeig) July 8, 2015 Being the Internet, Feig is being deluged both with hyperbolic vitriol for changing things, and praise for the switch. He has politely tweeted about the situation. Not blocking or deleting. I hear you all and appreciate all your input, good or bad. Thanks. https://t.co/pxZsWGeNyL — Paul Feig (@paulfeig) July 8, 2015 Keep in mind this Caddy hearse is about as old today as the original Ecto-1 from Ghostbusters' release in 1984. Having the ladies driving a '50s Caddy might stretch the imagination too far even in a movie about fighting the undead. This approach seems like a perfect compromise between old and new.

Ghostbusters trailer stars Ecto1 and a quartet of actresses

Thu, Mar 3 2016

"Um... you didn't disclose that the vehicle was going to be a hearse," says funnywoman Melissa McCarthy in the brand-spankin'-new trailer for the upcoming Ghostbusters reboot. Traditionalist fans may be similarly angered by the vehicle's basis, since the original Ecto1 was an ambulance, not a vehicle for the dead. Leslie Jones' response to McCarthy wasn't meant to answer those critics, but it does a good job of it anyway: "It's a Cadillac!" Naturally, there's a lot more to look at in the new trailer than just the Ecto1. There are, obviously, ghosts. Lots of 'em, in fact. There's also an opening piano sequence that's pretty darn great, but we ought to warn you that if you watch the video up above, you're going to be humming the theme from Ghostbusters for the rest of the day. We're sorry, but it simply cannot be avoided. You've been warned. Related Video:

Cadillac to recall 20,000 SRX models over wheels that could fall off

Thu, 23 May 2013

A potential issue with the lug nuts on 19,871 units of the 2013 Cadillac SRX in the US and Canada has lead to a recall of the luxury crossover. Those lug nuts that have a Teflon topcoat, identified by their bluish tint, could loosen and cause "creaking, rattling or grinding noises or steering vibrations." In the worst case scenario, a wheel could fall off, but there have been no reports of that happening, nor any reports of accidents or injuries due to the issue.
This is the second recall action on the SRX over the last few months. In March, Cadillac recalled 27,000 SRX models over a transmission programming issue. General Motors will begin notifying customers with the potentially faulty parts on June 3, at which time they can take their vehicles to dealers to have the tires rotated and new nuts installed. A further 7,397 SRXs exported from North America also face the recall action.
