1959 Super Nice Caddy!

Up for auction is a 1959 Cadillac Fleetwood! This is a very nice unmolested find! This car has all original interior that is absolutely awesome! The car has AC, power windows, power locks, power seats!  The car has new paint, heads reworked due to stuck valve, new pushrods, carb rebuilt, new plugs/wires/cap/rotor/points, new brakes and wheel cylinders, new fuel tank pickup, and I added electric fuel pump.  The car has no rust and was a Georgia car prior to my ownership.  The car is in great shape and would make a great Friday night or local show car.  The car does need the back bumper to be re-chromed.  All the rest of the trim and chrome is in great shape. All of the lights work, including all of the interior lights.  The door jams are very nice and as mentioned the car is rust free.  Most of the weather stripping and seals are good.  It needs a new trunk weather strip.  The original trunk mat, spare, and jack are present and in good shape.  The trunk mat has discolored some, but very presentable.  One tail light is cracked, but still working!

All in all, this car is an excellent find for someone looking for a great 59 Caddy!  With very little effort, this could be a 10+ showcar! The car is a great driver and date car as it is!

Good Luck, if you are looking for a real nice 59, bid with confidence on this one.  Any questions can be answered by calling 540.243.4406.

Texas sues GM, saying it tricked customers into sharing driving data sold to insurers

Wed, Aug 14 2024

Texas filed a lawsuit Tuesday against GM over years of alleged abuse of customers' data and trust. New car owners were presented with a "confusing and highly misleading" process that was implied to be for their safety, but "was no more than a deceptively designed sales flow" that surrendered their data for GM to sell. The suit contends that at no point was selling driving data ever even suggested as a possibility, putting GM in violation of the state's consumer protection laws. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is seeking a jury trial and at least $10,000 per offense (every GM car sold in the state since 2015) and a hefty add-on of $250,000 in cases where the victim was over 65. Texas seems to be flying high after a recent $1.4 billion settlement from Meta over other privacy concerns. This may well be a way to solve any pending budgetary issues in the Lone Star State.

Cadillac's new ad campaign to tell you how to get lucky

Thu, 05 Sep 2013

Cadillac is set to launch a new ad campaign this fall, as it attempts to maintain the momentum established by new models like the ATS. The campaign comes from an agency called Rogue, and according to AdAge, will lean on American values. It's called, "Work Hard. Be Lucky."
The campaign is fairly self-explanatory, just from the tagline. It's meant to make a Cadillac seem more attainable to the average, aspirational buyer. It does kind of pander to that American idea that everyone's hard work gets rewarded, but as ad campaigns go, that's not a bad thing.
Somehow, it doesn't roll off the tongue quite like "The Standard of the World." As AdAge points out, Cadillac's advertising over the years has lacked a real coherent theme, although we'll admit to enjoying the most recent campaigns, particularly the around-the-world jaunts with the ATS. It's unclear if the "Work Hard. Be Lucky." theme will evolve into an actual tagline for the brand, with Caddy spokesman Dave Caldwell telling the advertising mag, "It could very easily end up being a line of copy along with other lines; we don't really know yet. It's an open question as to how dramatically it will be featured."

Question of the Day: Worst year of the Malaise Era?

Thu, Jun 23 2016

The Malaise Era for cars in the United States spanned the 1973 through 1983 model years, and featured such abominations as a Corvette with just 205 horsepower (from the optional engine!) and MGBs with suspensions jacked way up to meet new headlight-height requirements. There were many low points throughout this gloomy period, of course. The horrifyingly low power and fuel-economy numbers for big V8s during the middle years of the Malaise Era make a strong case for 1974 or 1975— the years of Nixon's resignation and the Fall of Saigon, respectively— as the most Malaisey years. But then the GM-pummeling debacles of the Chevy Citation and Cadillac Cimarron could make an early-1980s year the low point. 1979, the year of the ignominious Chrysler bailout? You choose!
