This is a very nice, 1959 Cadillac Fleetwood Series 75 9 passenger Limousine in good condition inside and out. This car is extremely rare as they built only 710 series 75 sedans and who knows how many are left in the world. It is a great driver for someone as it has had a mild restoration. This caddy was used for the last several years by a specialty Limo company for wedding and special events in northern California. It runs and drives very good and would make a great cruiser, promotional car or functional limo. It has spent most of its life in California. This 1959 Cadillac limo has newer paint job and looks good for a driver. The front and rear chrome bumpers have been redone and look great. The rest of the trim on this car and is completely original and in very good condition for a driver. All of the glass is in excellent condition except one of the rear windows has a small crack. It is sitting on its original wheels and hubcaps wrapped with wide whitewall tires. It has a very nice interior that is a mix of original and redone. All the door panels look to be original. The carpet, headliner front and rear seat have been redone and look very nice. Everything works in the car except the power front seat, horn, clock and original AM radio which are all easy fixes. The rear jump seats are original. The dash pad is original and looks great. It has a broken horn ring and a couple of cracks in the steering wheel. Inside the trunk has been recently redone and looks very nice. Mechanically, the engine and transmission run very good! This Cadillac drives with no issues at all as it should be for use as a limo! The 390ci motor provides great power to move this little diamond around. The car fires right up and runs great. The engine compartment is all stock and original looking. It has factory air conditioning that looks to be all there but needs to be serviced. Fire her up and she's ready to cruise. Liberace's gilded Cadillac could be yours
Tue, 27 Aug 2013With their chrome grilles and oversized wheels, it's hard not to notice a Cadillac these days. But this one is even more blingtastic on account of the 23.75-karat gold-leaf bodywork.
The 1931 Cadillac Golfer's Drop Head Coupé is said to have belonged to the inimitable performer Liberace, who didn't just have it covered in gold - he also had the exterior door handles plated in silver and the inside handles in 24-karat gold as well. It's also got a white leather interior and headlights that - well ahead of their time (if you'll pardon us, Mr. Tucker) - pivot with the steering wheel. All that bling is powered by a 5.7-liter V8 mated to a three-speed automatic transmission that pales in comparison to the seven, eight and even nine-speed gearboxes appearing on luxury sedans today.
The project was undertaken over the course of three years in the 1970s by one Jack Smith from Kansas. Smith (if that was his real name) sold it at auction in 1975, and it was most recently displayed for 12 years at a museum in Germany which claimed it was Liberace's own. The car is now going up for sale by Barons' at the Sandown Park horse racing track in Surrey, England, on September 17, when bidding starts at 85,000 pounds - equivalent to over $130,000 at today's rates.
GM design boss Welburn says Lincoln isn't a Cadillac rival [w/poll]
Thu, 05 Dec 2013General Motors Vice President of Global Design, Ed Welburn, had some dismissive words for a certain cross-town luxury brand during an interview with Car and Driver. When asked about his thoughts on Lincoln, Welburn deflected, before saying, "I don't consider Lincoln to be a competitor for Cadillac."
"They're not a global luxury brand. I don't consider them a competitor. Are they a competitor for Buick? Quite possibly. But not for Cadillac," GM's head designer explained. Welburn, who's been at the helm of GM Design North America since 2003 and is the first to hold the position of VP of Global Design, has been instrumental in the styling renaissance at GM, so predictably, Car and Driver's interview with him focused on the design aspect of cars.
During the interview, Welburn explicitly denied plans for a reborn Cadillac XLR, even as a new Chevrolet Corvette is hitting the market and strides are being made with Cadillac's V-Series performance arm saying, "We have a lot of cars that we're working on for the Cadillac brand. The XLR is not one of them right now."
