1953 Cadillac Fleetwood 4 Door 60s (model 6019sx) Full Restoration 7 Years Ago on 2040-cars
Hugo, Minnesota, United States
This 1953 Cadillac Fleetwood Four Door 60S is an almost perfect example of one of the most luxurious cars built in that era. There were only 109,651 Cadillacs built that year including all models and of that total only 20,000 were Fleetwood 60S models. This was the top of the line Cadillac most being purchased by Doctors, Lawyers, Corporate CEO's and other top professionals. Today, only 2,200 of these rare Fleetwoods remain on State auto registries, with an estimated additional 2,000 spread around in junk yards across the Country. The 1953 Model was the first of the Cadillacs to utilize the 12 volt electrical system, and the one piece rear window. The engine for 53 was a 331 Cu In V8, rated at 210 HP. Transmissions were either GM Hydramatic, or Dynaflow depending on whether the car was built before or after the big fire at the Hydramatic production facility. This car is equipped with the Hydramatic Automatic Transmission. The speedometer shows 25,890 and that appears to be authentic when one reads the restoration records for the car. This fine automobile spend most of it's life in Connecticut and later in the early 2000's it shows up in Wisconsin records. In 2010 the car was documented by an appraisal service in Cloquet, Minnesota and it was most recently appraised by a service in White Bear Lake, MN in February of 2014. That appraisal listed the cars value at from 60,000 to 70,000. The receipt file is extensive to say the least - with over $25,000 in chrome plating alone. The file goes on and on, Professional engine rebuild, transmission, radiator, generator, transmission cooler, new tires, glass, window regulators, window rubbers and the list of small detail parts purchased is endless. The photos tell the story - look them over good. The car drives like a Cadillac should. Smooth, quiet, and fairly quick for it's age and weight. This is luxury once you sit in these couch like seats. The interior is just a perfect as the exterior, the dash board is just exquisite in detail and class. We can be of some assistance with shipping arrangements if that is required, just let us know in advance. Call before bidding for details that may be missing in the description. Car has a clear title and is ready to be transferred to you right away. Sixonetwo Sevenfiveone Five0sevennine will get me anytime during the day in the central time zone for questions. If the asking price seems to be out of your range, just let me know and I can potentially list a "buy it now" price for you that meets your needs. Lets get this car to it's new owner quickly. Thanks for looking, appreciated! Jerry.

2017 Cadillac XT5 cuts weight, adds room over SRX [UPDATE]
Mon, Nov 9 2015UPDATE: This post has been updated with a full set of official photos. Impressions on the interior and exterior have also been added. The attention of Cadillac fans may be focused on the new CT6 sedan, but the most important new vehicle in the New York-based company's quiver might be the all-new XT5. Cadillac officially unveiled the SRX replacement today ahead of its full debut in Los Angeles next week. Short for Crossover Touring 5, the new XT5 drops 278 pounds over the old SRX, while offering an extra 3.2 inches of interior space. The XT5's face balances the best parts of the Escalade and CT6's fascias, with a strong egg-crate grille and prominent LED accent lights. It looks good scaled to a vehicle of this size. The taillights curve up and over the rear haunches, which feed into a strong shoulder line that runs towards the front of the car. It's a solid look, and one we're looking forward to seeing in person. The interior looks very, very nice, with warm leather and wood trimmings. The steering wheel, with its large, central wood accent, looks remarkably good. In fact, it might be one of our favor parts, if only because it's such a bold piece of design. We aren't crazy about the sheer abundance of buttons on the wheel, though. All four spokes are covered, and it just looks kind of cluttered. As is the trend nowadays, the center console features a floating bridge design with plenty of storage space underneath. Our early impression of the leather-wrapped dash is positive, although as is so often the case, we need to get a hands on before rendering a final judgment. There are no major surprises under the hood. Like the current SRX, the XT5 utilizes the same 3.6-liter V6 as the CTS and ATS sedans. Start/stop has been fitted, which should provide a boost in fuel economy although no mileage figures have been published yet. Cadillac will also offer a standard 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder XT5, although for reasons that aren't clear, it's only for the Chinese market. This seems like a misstep in our eyes, considering the XT5 will challenge the likes of the BMW X3, Audi Q5, and Mercedes-Benz GLC – all of which offer four-cylinder turbos. With the V6, the XT5 delivers 310 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque. While there's more total horsepower than the Lexus, Audi, or BMW, the 3.6 still faces a torque deficiency versus the turbocharged X3 xDrive35i or supercharged Audi V6. The XT5 has a standard eight-speed automatic transmission.
Cadillac Elmiraj Concept slinks in Leno's Garage
Wed, 28 Aug 2013Jay Leno's Garage has moved to Pebble Beach for the week. This time around, the affable comedian is taking a look at the Cadillac Elmiraj Concept that debuted during the Monterey car week, and is talking to General Motors vice president of global design, Ed Welburn.
There's plenty of reminiscing about what concept cars were like when these two were kids, before a fairly deep dive into the striking Elmiraj Concept itself. Welburn shares a few anecdotes about the design process behind the two-door concept, including how his designers changed his mind on the grille design.
After bringing up the Cimarron, Leno makes a solid point that the Elmiraj would be a solid production car that could even spawn a four-door variant. We couldn't agree more. Take a look below for the full video from Jay Leno's Garage.
Cadillac's new ad campaign to tell you how to get lucky
Thu, 05 Sep 2013Cadillac is set to launch a new ad campaign this fall, as it attempts to maintain the momentum established by new models like the ATS. The campaign comes from an agency called Rogue, and according to AdAge, will lean on American values. It's called, "Work Hard. Be Lucky."
The campaign is fairly self-explanatory, just from the tagline. It's meant to make a Cadillac seem more attainable to the average, aspirational buyer. It does kind of pander to that American idea that everyone's hard work gets rewarded, but as ad campaigns go, that's not a bad thing.
Somehow, it doesn't roll off the tongue quite like "The Standard of the World." As AdAge points out, Cadillac's advertising over the years has lacked a real coherent theme, although we'll admit to enjoying the most recent campaigns, particularly the around-the-world jaunts with the ATS. It's unclear if the "Work Hard. Be Lucky." theme will evolve into an actual tagline for the brand, with Caddy spokesman Dave Caldwell telling the advertising mag, "It could very easily end up being a line of copy along with other lines; we don't really know yet. It's an open question as to how dramatically it will be featured."
