1951 Cadillac Fleetwood Series 75 Limousine on 2040-cars
Tucson, Arizona, United States
Being offered up for your consideration, AT A LOW RESERVE, is a 1951 Cadillac Fleetwood Series 75 Limousine, also called a 7 passenger sedan. Out of a total production of Cadillac's in 1951, GM only made 1090 of this model of Limousine, style number 7523. How many could be left? They came with a 160 horse power, 331ci V8 engine and a 4 speed Hydra-Matic transmission. Even after 60 plus years this car still has it's number matching engine and transmission. Paper work has been found that puts this car in Tucson, Arizona in 1979 and we believe it has spent its life in Arizona. No rust found anywhere. Nothing better then an Arizona rust free car. Looking at the pics you can tell it is now a restoration in progress. A complete professional restoration was started about 10 years back. About two years into it, health and money issues came up and the restoration stopped. For the last 8 years this car has been setting, covered up, in a climate controlled storage area and is just now being offered up for sale. During the restoration and storage time we have found that some parts have came up missing. The missing parts, bumpers, hubcaps, tail lights are not unique to this model and can be acquired easily. Some already have been located here in Arizona. The engine has not been started recently but it does turn easily by hand. The work that has already been done on this car is nothing short of perfection. The body has not been off the frame but everything connected to the body has been removed, cleaned and painted like a mirror in black. Every area of this car, under hood, under the trunk, door jams, dash and even the drip rail areas have the same deep deep shine as the main body. A capital "EXCELLENT" is the only word to express the quality of this paint. No orange peel anywhere on this car and you can't miss the depth of the shine in my pics. It reflects everything in the garage. There are although, 2 chips and a small area on the bottom of the driver side rear door that will need paint touch up and repair. Along with all the paint and body work that has already been done, comes a complete set of new tinted glass and a new set of 4 electric window regulators to replace the original hydraulic style used in those days.(All hydraulic parts are also included) Another costly part of this restoration, that has already been completed, is all 30 plus pieces of the exterior stainless trim have all been professionally straighten, if needed, and show polished. The brakes and hydraulic system, along with all the wheel bearings have also been redone. New tires and exhaust system are also included in the already done items. Not sure what the total dollar amount already invested in this car is. I can say for sure, the paint job alone would cost you between $15,000 and $20,000 today. A lot has been done.....a lot is left for you.....finish it your way and have a really special ride. I am sure I have forgotten something important to you as a bidder, so please ask any and all questions you feel necessary before bidding. Glad to answer them and more pics are also available. For more pics please contact be direct at az1pappabear@cox.net. For questions, I can also be reached a 520-296-7559. I you would like, a personal inspection of this car can also be arranged for you or your representative. Winning bidder must make contact within 48 hours(2 days) of auction ending. A non-refundable deposit of $1000.00 must be received within 72 hours (3 days) of auction ending. Unless other arrangement have been made, the balance due must be paid within 7 days of auction ending and bank cleared before the car can be shipped or picked up. The only exception would be if the buyer wants to pay cash at time of pickup. NO OTHER EXCEPTIONS.

GM announces 6 recalls covering nearly 720k cars
Wed, 23 Jul 2014General Motors has announced yet another sprawling recall campaign, with six separate elements covering 717,950 vehicles on US roads. At this point in 2014, it's starting to seem like there are more days with a GM recall than without. Perhaps most troubling about this latest volley, though, is that every vehicle is from the past few years, indicating that GM's quality woes may not be limited to pre-bankruptcy vehicles.
The largest element of this latest campaign covers 414,333 units, and includes the 2011 to 2012 Chevrolet Camaro, 2010 to 2012 Chevy Equinox, GMC Terrain and Cadillac SRX and the 2011 to 2012 Buick Regal and LaCrosse. Only vehicles with powered, height-adjustable seats are covered. In these particular cars and crossovers, the bolt that secures the height adjuster actuator may loosen of its own accord and in some cases fall out completely. If this happens, the seats will be able to move both up and down. GM claims the vehicles are safe to drive, provided drivers don't vertically adjust their seats. This particular issue has caused one crash and three injuries.

Cadillac XT5 confirmed for 2016 as next-gen SRX
Wed, Jun 10 2015Cadillac's entire lineup of 2016 models gets a major infotainment upgrade this summer with improvements to CUE and integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There's one major exception for now, though. The SRX retains the old system until its all-new generation, called the XT5, debuts early in the 2016 calendar year. "When we transition into all new product lines, we will evolve the naming convention to suit the new classification we have announced. So SRX becomes XT5 next year," company spokesman David Caldwell said in an email to Autoblog. Earlier spy shots and rumors suggest the XT5 might be offered with a turbocharged four-cylinder and naturally aspirated six-cylinder engines, plus a nine-speed automatic transmission. For the rest of Cadillac's models, CarPlay arrives with the launch of the 2016 vehicles, and Android Auto joins later. Using either of them requires a connection via USB, and they add a new projection icon on the CUE screen. Once activated, both systems integrate with driver's phone and incorporate features like navigation, music, and contacts. They can also accept voice commands. Even for those that don't want to hook up a smartphone, CUE should work better thanks to a more powerful processor. Start-up times for the infotainment system are expected to be faster, and Cadillac claims that it's also more responsive for voice recognition, navigation searches, and media. The navigation interface is simplified, as well. The Escalade, CTS, and XTS can now be ordered with a 360-degree camera system to display on the screen. Cadillac Enhances Phone Integration for 2016 Models with Apple CarPlay, CUE Upgrades APPLE CARPLAY AVAILABLE AT LAUNCH; ANDROID AUTO COMING LATER IN MODEL YEAR 2015-06-09 NEW YORK – Cadillac's 2016 model year products will feature enhanced connectivity and control, including the addition of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the predominant new systems for in-car phone integration. These additions are part of a broader enhancement of CUE, Cadillac's user experience, with new features and a faster, streamlined operation. Apple CarPlay will debut in 2016 Cadillac models featuring CUE's 8-in multi-touch screen except the SRX Crossover, a model that will move to an all-new generation in early 2016. Android Auto is expected to be phased into 2016 production at a later date. The 2016 model year will begin this summer.
Cadillac can't keep up with Escalade demand, can't move its sedans
Wed, Feb 11 2015No matter how much Cadillac revitalizes its lineup and its image, it seems that all consumers want is the Escalade. In fact, Automotive News reports that General Motors can't keep up with demand for the fullsize luxury SUV, despite sticker prices that start at over $70,000 and approach six figures at the top end of the spectrum. Contrast that with sedans like the ATS and CTS, which are far cheaper but which Cadillac hasn't been able to move fast enough to keep up with production, prompting both the manufacturer and dealers to offer substantial incentives to keep them from piling up. Cadillac had been resisting a price cut of the ATS or CTS, lest it hurt resale values – itself a factor that could explain consumers' reluctance to buy them in the first place – but been offering subsidized leases, discounted financing, rebates and cheaper options. Combined with incentives from individual dealers, according to AN, buyers can be looking at five-figure discounts on buying a new Cadillac sedan. And now, finally, it seems the CTS will indeed get a little bit off its bottom line. Yet GM has been producing the ATS and CTS at rates that their sales can't keep up with. The automaker was forced to idle the plant in Lansing, MI, where it assembles the ATS and CTS for six weeks starting this past December. And since it reopened late in January, it's been reduced to a single shift as dealers try to move the metal they've already got. Meanwhile the plant in Arlington, TX, that produces the Escalade and its Chevy and GMC siblings has been running on overtime, with three shifts throughout the week and even into the weekend to keep up with demand. Profitable as it's been for Cadillac and GM, though, the Escalade does not represent the future of where it wants to take the brand - separating the Escalade as almost a brand unto itself that's been left out of the company's new naming scheme. If only it could make its sedans as successful as its fullsize SUVs, it'll be all set.
