Offered for auction is this outstanding mostly original 1950 62 Series sedan. Condition of the vehicle for 63 years is remarkable and indicates exceptional care and maintenance. The body is totally rust free and underneath is very clean with no evidence of rust or corrosion. This is NOT a North East vehicle. Beautiful Hampden Blue(original color, repainted in 1969) with gray interior. The interior is near perfect with original door panels, headliner, and back seat. The front seat supposedly has been redone in the past. Hard to determine. Carpets have been replaced. Perfect dash and steering wheel. All instruments work with the exception of ammeter gauge which has been by-passed. Explanation is covered later in description. Clock currently does not work. Wonderbar radio plays as it should including back seat speaker. Vacuum radio antenna works. All glass is in excellent condition with date codes (3/50-4/50). All exterior chrome is in excellent condition including die cast. The "V" on hood was recently re-plated due to flattened/thin chrome after 63 years. Only blemishes are on ends of bumpers. All exterior lights function as they should with 6v halogen headlights and 6v LED tailights. Much better at night time and brighter stop lights.
Engine runs exceptionally strong with 30lb oil pressure and close to that at idle. Much rebuilt or new by previous owner (carb, fuel pump, radiator, water pump, brakes, brake lines, brake cylinders, etc.) Cooling system was recently serviced, drained, flushed, new thermostat, defroster hoses were installed. Previous owner had the transmission rebuilt. Braking is outstanding with a Wilwood dual master cylinder with remote reservoir in left fender well all mounted on custom made brackets. Can easily be returned to original. Original master cylinder is with the car. Optima 6V battery(hidden beneath plastic cover to make look original). 6V one wire black painted altenator for better charging with voltmeter mounted at bottom of dash for better charging. Aux input to 6V Wonderbar radio to accept MP3 player input or FM tuner input. Original generator with car. All changes have been made in a completely reversible manner with diagrams. Front suspension is in superior condition with new idler arm , stabilizer links, shocks, and heavy duty stabilizer bar. Tie rod ends and kingpins in excellent condition. Wide white wall radial tires. Trunk compartment is totally original showing wear. Wheel jack, lug wrench and original tools (pliers, screwdriver) still in original boxes. Car cover, shop manual(reprint), owners manual(reprint) with car. Unique opportunity to acquire an exceptional road worthy Cadillac.

Cadillac ad boss is happy controversial Poolside TV ad created debate
Thu, Mar 6 2014Remember Cadillac's controversial commercial for it ELR plug-in hybrid? Did you find it provocative? If so, that's a good thing according to the brand's advertising director, Craig Bierley. First aired during NBC's coverage of the Olympic opening ceremony, the minute-long spot returned to the tele again this weekend, bookending the Academy Awards on ABC. Titled Poolside, the bit was meant as "brand provocation" and whether you enjoyed it or not – sentiment is said to run 3:1 on the pro side – we can probably all agree it fulfilled its role as such. If you were one of those who felt the ad erred on the side of nationalistic consumerism (or what have you), your anger might be somewhat assuaged after reading this article from Advertising Age in which Bierley addresses most of what he believes are misconceptions about the message. For one, the spot isn't aimed at the One Percent, just those who make $200,000 a year. Or, as Craig Bierley, Cadillac's advertising director, calls them, "people who haven't been given anything." Bierley told Advertising Age that the spot doesn't celebrate workaholicsm, instead, "We're not making a statement saying, 'We want people to work hard.' What we're saying is that hard work has its payoffs.'" While our commentors seemed mostly to enjoy discussing the value proposition that is (or is not, depending on your point of view) the Cadillac ELR, the majority appeared to enjoy the commercial. If you were one of those offended, however, let us know if your opinion has changed upon reading Cadillac's defense. If you don't remember what all the fuss was about, scroll below to take another dip in Poolside.
Best sport sedans for 2022 and 2023
Thu, Nov 11 2021SUVs dominate the car industry at every size and price level, but some people still prefer the looks, and more importantly, the performance and comfort, of the traditional sedan. With a lower ride height, lighter weight and generally smaller size, they often are much more fun to drive, and can even be more comfortable. Sport sedans of course lean harder on the performance side of things, and are among the best options for sheer speed and fun, thanks to those inherent characteristics. We've rounded up the ones in the segment that do the sporty dance better than any others in 2024 to give you a handy guide when you're shopping for one of your own. You'll find a wide array of cars here including gas, electric and hybrid powertrains. They'll have manual and automatic transmissions and drive the front, rear or all four wheels. Technically a few hatchbacks have slipped in, but they're close enough in look and feel that we wanted to include them. And excluding them means you might miss out on some of the best-driving options available. You wouldn't want that, would you? Alfa Romeo Giulia Why it stands out: Punchy four-cylinder; astounding power from Quadrifoglio; light and nimble character; awesome shift paddlesCould be better: Clunky infotainment; sub-par switchgear Read our Alfa Romeo Giulia review We start this list with one of the most predictable inclusions: the Alfa Romeo Giulia. Yes, it's a stereotype that the Italian sport sedan is fun to drive, but the fact is, well, it is. The Giulia comes standard with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder making 280 horsepower, making it one of the most powerful four-cylinders in the segment. It's paired with a snappy and smooth eight-speed transmission and either rear-wheel or all-wheel drive. The engine is lively and torquey, if a little short of revs, and the chassis feels super-light. The steering is eager and the car jumps into corners. We also highly recommend getting a version with the enormous and superb aluminum paddle shifters that make clicking through gears much more entertaining. And on the topic of the interior, it's attractive, but the various switches and knobs feels a little cheap, and the infotainment system is clunky. Of course there's also the incredible Giulia Quadrifoglio at the high end. It gets a Ferrari-derived twin-turbo 2.9-liter V6 making 505 hp, and it's rear-wheel drive only.
Lansing builds its millionth Cadillac
Wed, 18 Sep 2013Cadillacs are built at plants across North America. The Escalade is assembled in Texas, the SRX in Mexico and the XTS in Ontario. But the bulk of Cadillac's lineup - or the smaller members of the family, at least - are built in Michigan. And while the upcoming ELR will be built alongside the Chevy Volt at the Detroit/Hamtramck facility (which incidentally opened with the Cadillac Eldorado back in '86), the majority of those Cadillacs built in Michigan are handled by the Lansing Grand River Assembly Plant.
In fact, Lansing Grand River just celebrated its millionth Cadillac built. The landmark millionth vehicle is a new 2014 CTS sedan in Red Obsession Tintcoat. The facility opened in 2001 and has built Cadillacs almost exclusively since then, assembling the CTS and ATS model lines, though in a couple of years it will also handle production of the Chevy Camaro.
