Vehicle is in  very good condition overall, and this Escalade sold for over $70,000 originally.  Please see below:

Mechanically this vehicle runs and drives beautifully with a ride that you would expect from a Cadillac.  Car starts well and  drives and shifts smoothly.  Vehicle has lots of power and excellent acceleration.  There are no known issues with motor or trans at all.  Vehicle has been maintained with regular oil changes and serviced as needed.  It will also come with a fresh oil change before purchase.  Start the car with the key or use the Remote Car Starter which allows you to warm up the car in the winter and cool it in the summer.  I just replaced the remotes so it will come with brand new Car Starter/Keyless Entry remotes.

The exterior of this car shines like new with chrome accents.  Paint is in excellent condition with only minor door dings and rock chips as you would expect.  The rear bumper has a very minor flaw in it, but it is hardly noticeable.  I have included a picture so that you can see this area clearly.  Windows are tinted for privacy which also makes the vehicle look very ritzy.  Front windshield has two  minor chips from rocks, but these have been there for a year and have not spread.  Power sunroof functions well.  Side running boards make entering/exiting the vehicle easy, and they add a nice chrome look to the car.  Mirrors function properly and none are damaged.

Interior is loaded with beautiful beige leather interior.  Seats also have Cadillac logo on headrests, and floors are protected by custom Cadillac floormats with matching Cadillac Logo.  Seats have no rips or tears, but some of the leather is showing signs of wear particularly on seat bottoms.  Please see pictures.  Vehicle comes with heavy duty rear cargo cover and a rubber cargo liner.  This is great for protecting your carpet underneath, and this has always been in place so the cargo carpet is in great condition.   DVD system works perfectly as do both screens.  Radio and navigation appear to be functioning as they should.  Car has two toned dash and beautiful woodgrain accents.

Vehicle comes with 20" tires and premium chrome wheels. Tire tread is shown in pictures.  Vehicle comes with Tire Pressure Monitoring System. There is one tire that is reading "0" and the tire pressure monitor light comes on when you start the car. I suspect that the sensor on that tire has probably gone bad.  This was not a feature that I really used so I didn't replaced it, but if you want it looks like a new sensor sells for about $35-40 on Ebay.   This vehicle comes with a full sized spare.

The only other issue that I know of is that the speedometer and the lights below it have  been working intermittently.  I have been told that this is likely due to a speedometer clock motor which can be rebuilt through a service on Ebay for less than $75.  As mentioned this is working intermittently so when you see/drive the vehicle it may work fine.  This does not affect the odometer's function so the mileage on the vehicle is true and accurate.   This vehicle is still being driven occasionally (ex. to get the oil changed, etc.) so the mileage may be slightly different at the end of the auction.  Vehicle is also for sale locally.

Car has current Virginia Safety inspection and comes with a clear title.  You are welcome to see and drive the vehicle prior to bidding or you may have a mechanic inspect the car on your behalf.  I will be happy to ship this vehicle, but you are responsible for all shipping costs and liabilities associated with doing so.

This is a NO RESERVE auction!

Bring back the Bronco! Trademarks we hope are actually (someday) future car names

Tue, Mar 17 2015

Trademark filings are the tea leaves of the auto industry. Read them carefully – and interpret them correctly – and you might be previewing an automaker's future product plans. Yes, they're routinely filed to maintain the rights to an iconic name. And sometimes they're only for toys and clothing. But not always. Sometimes, the truth is right in front of us. The trademark is required because a company actually wants to use the name on a new car. With that in mind, here's a list of intriguing trademark filings we want to see go from paperwork to production reality. Trademark: Bronco Company: Ford Previous Use: The Bronco was a long-running SUV that lived from 1966-1996. It's one of America's original SUVs and was responsible for the increased popularity of the segment. Still, it's best known as O.J. Simpson's would-be getaway car. We think: The Bronco was an icon. Everyone seems to want a Wrangler-fighter – Ford used to have a good one. Enough time has passed that the O.J. police chase isn't the immediate image conjured by the Bronco anymore. Even if we're doing a wish list in no particular order, the Bronco still finds its way to the top. For now (unfortunately), it's just federal paperwork. Rumors on this one can get especially heated. The official word from a Ford spokesman is: "Companies renew trademark filings to maintain ownership and control of the mark, even if it is not currently used. Ford values the iconic Bronco name and history." Trademarks: Aviator, AV8R Company: Ford Previous Use: The Aviator was one of the shortest-run Lincolns ever, lasting for the 2003-2005 model years. It never found the sales success of the Ford Explorer, with which it shared a platform. We Think: The Aviator name no longer fits with Lincoln's naming nomenclature. Too bad, it's better than any other name Lincoln currently uses, save for its former big brother, the Navigator. Perhaps we're barking up the wrong tree, though. Ford has made several customized, aviation themed-Mustangs in the past, including one called the Mustang AV8R in 2008, which had cues from the US Air Force's F-22 Raptor fighter jet. It sold for $500,000 at auction, and the glass roof – which is reminiscent of a fighter jet cockpit – helped Ford popularize the feature. Trademark: EcoBeast Company: Ford Previous Use: None by major carmakers.

2015 Cadillac Escalade

Mon, 07 Apr 2014

Cadillac has been an interesting story in the auto industry over the past several years. Its comeback bid may be well over a decade old, but it's only recently that the Wreath and Crest has transformed from the auto industry's retirement home into its hot new thing. Today's Cadillac is a powerful marque working to instill passionate design, sound driving dynamics and cutting-edge technology into each model it builds, with vehicles like the ATS and redesigned CTS leading the charge.
Now, its latest model has arrived. This fourth-generation Escalade is among the most important new Cadillacs since the division's renaissance kicked into high gear. It's the brand's de facto flagship, and the first vehicle many young people think of when hearing the name "Cadillac." In the past, the Escalade was the chosen vehicle of the rich, flashy and famous. It's suffered over the past few years, though, particularly as new and more luxurious competitors have come to the fore.
With this latest redesign, General Motors is aiming to retake the spotlight as purveyors of the market's premier luxury SUV. To find out if it's been successful, I ventured down to the South Carolina Lowcountry to test the all-new 2015 Escalade.

Cadillac president de Nysschen says electrification coming 'across the spectrum'

Thu, Jan 22 2015

We like to pick on new Cadillac president Johan de Nysschen for his insistence, many years ago, when he was president of Audi of America, that plug-in vehicles are for idiots. Listening to him give the keynote address at the Washington Auto Show today, you wouldn't know he ever said anything negative about an electric vehicle. Instead, he sounds something like a EV-angelist. De Nysschen said that Cadillac will be able to benefit from GM's considerable expertise in plug-in technology, which he said would be "applied across the spectrum of our portfolio." GM's electric committment will help in "making electrification commonplace." With the plug-in ELR already on the road, de Nysschen said that the company's next step in advancing powertrains will be the introduction of stop/start technology – which de Nysschen called an "important system to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions" – into a Cadillac for the first time later this year. Without giving any specific details, de Nysschen said that Cadillac will introduce eight new models (not necessarily plug-ins) by the end of this decade, including five that "will take Cadillac into market segments where the brand is not even present today." These new vehicles will likely be much lighter than today's vehicles, de Nysschen said, because "weight reduction today is critical to automotive design, it helps to improve fuel efficiency and contributes to desireable vehicle dynamics." The key is to reduce weight without compromising safety or comfort and to use the right material – steel, aluminum, carbon fiber – in the right place at the right time. It was a not-so-subtle jab at Ford and its new aluminum F-150. "In the pursuit of weight reduction, some manufacturers have also opted for abandoning steel and have gone for an all-aluminum approach," he said. "At Cadillac, we believe that different materials each present particular advantages in specific applications. There is no single material that represents the optimum balance of the conflicting objectives of every single application." Related video:
