Have you ever dreamed of discovering a car that was tucked away in a garage and forgotten? That happened to me when I found this beautiful 1979 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz. This was my elderly neighbor’s car that she purchased new at a local dealership. She drove it only during the warmer months, and then parked it inside her garage while she drove her AWD Mercedes in the winter. In 1994 she moved to Florida to live with her son and the car remained parked in a climate controlled garage, covered up until her son sold it to me last year. I moved into my house in 1998 so I  did not know the car was sitting there until the day her son had the garage door open and I stumbled across it. Now anyone who knows anything about cars knows that you just can’t get in it and drive it after it has sat for 18 years. I spent almost $4,000.00 to get this Cadillac roadworthy, but now it runs and drives quite nicely. Tires and brakes are great, engine and transmission are smooth, and all electrical components work including the automatic ride leveler and cruise control. The next owner should not have to put very much money into the vehicle, if any. Should be able to drive it any distance with confidence. The interior is almost flawless with no rips, tears, or even any wear areas. To my knowledge the car has never been smoked in, eaten or drank in. The dash is excellent with the dash pad not faded or cracked anywhere. There is very little pitting anywhere on the chrome. The headliner was replaced by me. The outside is clean, straight, and rust free with a couple of small areas with a little surface rust. There is a boo boo on the passenger’s side behind the front bumper (pictured). I have no reason to believe the mileage of 43,590 is not original. I didn’t do any major detailing to the car, just washed it and vacuumed the interior. Trunk and engine compartment are the way they looked when I pulled it out of the garage.

I can go on and on about the superior condition of the Cadillac, but I’m running out of text space. It is offered at no reserve; however I express the right to sell it locally, so it is subject to availability. Inspections are welcomed and recommended but I would be astonished if an inspector found anything of consequence. If you require more information, please reply to the ad with your phone number and I will reply as soon as possible. Thank you for considering my vehicle.

I forgot to add a few things.

The paint has some minor scratches but not easily noticed. Just above the driver's rear tire molding is a dent about the size of a quarter that has some surface rust. I'd rate the body and paint at 8.5-9 out of 10.

The rubber seals around the windows and doors are still soft and pliable. I ran it through a carwash just before taking pictures and there was not one drop of water that got inside the car.I have driven it 70 MPH on the highway and there is very little wind noise. The cabin is very quiet and comfortable. All the glass is completely scratch and chip free. The window motors are smooth and strong. It's not an exaggeration to say the interior smells like a new car when you open the doors. There are no rattles or squeaks when driving over railroad tracks. This car is in unbelievable condition. I have all the original manuals. Spare has never been removed from the trunk. Bumpers are perfect with no dings or pitting. I think you can see where I am going with this!

Cadillac prepares to top its own 'Ring record with upcoming new CTS-V

Mon, 14 Jul 2014

It was a big deal back in 2008 when the original Cadillac CTS-V clocked a lap time of 7:59 at the Nürburgring, making it the fastest sedan ever to lap the Nordschleife to that date. Not many four-doors have bested that time since - the list consisting pretty much only of the Porsche Panamera Turbo - but now hot hatches are lapping faster than that, so you can bet that the new one will manage an even better time.
Now we've spotted the upcoming new CTS-based performance sedan several times before undergoing testing in locations around the world, but this is the first time we've seen it at the Nürburgring, apparently using the Goodyear Dunlop test facility as its base of operations (and still wearing Michigan manufacturer plates, incidentally). Considering how well the outgoing CTS-V performed and how much further you can bet Cadillac will push the envelop this time around, a new sedan lap record is almost a certainty - and we can only hope for an all-out war between Europe's performance sedan power houses to ensue.

2017 Cadillac CT6 Plug-In Hybrid Drivers' Notes Review | Seamlessly green

Fri, Jan 5 2018

In many ways, the Cadillac CT6 Plug-in Hybrid is the most interesting car the brand sells. Despite having a turbocharged four-cylinder hybrid powertrain, it makes the most torque of any CT6, even the twin-turbocharged V6 model. It also has a claimed electric range of 31 miles and can still manage a combined fuel economy of 26 mpg with just the gas engine. Even its origin is interesting, since its final assembly point is China. To cap things off, it's also the second most expensive CT6 in the range. To find out if the CT6 is worth that money, and has more to offer than fun facts, we spent some time behind the wheel. Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore: I achieved 34.1 miles per gallon for my roughly 14-mile roundtrip in the CT6 hybrid. This sedan is a rolling example of where luxury is heading in the near term: Existing models souped up with hybrid tech, and the green features will go along way toward keeping big sedans like this relevant. It's a smart play for Cadillac to add a product like this. Otherwise, it's a fairly standard-issue CT6, which is a solid car. The flashy head- and taillights look great. The design is angled, creased and nicely proportioned. The interior is comfortable and roomy. It's a nice car. Cadillac invested a lot in the CT6, and it shows. Rumors have long swirled that the brand will add a larger flagship, though in this climate, that's hard to envision. For now, the CT6 does the job as Cadillac's standard bearer. Associate Editor Joel Stocksdale: Of all the different CT6 variants available, the CT6 PHEV is the one I would pick for myself. Why? Because the hybrid powertrain finally delivers on the quiet, refined driving experience I want from a flagship luxury sedan. I was a bit surprised by this, too, since the gas engine under the hood is the 2.0-liter four-cylinder used elsewhere, which isn't the smoothest thing in the world. But assist from the electric motor helps keep the four-cylinder from having to wind up too much to move the big Caddy, and when the gas engine does rev hard, it's well muffled by whatever insulation is in the car. Besides aural refinement, the power delivery is oil-on-ice slick. The blending of electric and gas power is seamless. There's no waiting on the turbo to spool up, and there's no loss of power at higher rpms with the electric motor. They work in perfect harmony providing excellent low-down grunt and solid upper-end power. The transmission is super smooth, too allowing for happy wafting wherever you go.

Despite De Nysschen saying it won't, Cadillac cuts struggling CTS prices

Wed, Jan 7 2015

Ah, well that didn't last long. Not even two years after elevating the price of the then-new third-generation Cadillac CTS by $7,000, the company is now stepping back, telling dealers it will be slashing the price of the 2015 model by anywhere from $1,000 to $3,000. It seems that there are two reasons behind Cadillac's move. First, and most obviously, are its slumping sales, down seven percent last year. That figure is made worse, Automotive News reports, by the seven-percent gain made by the greater luxury market, not to mention gains from fellow American luxury brand Lincoln. Cadillac, meanwhile, also likely faced pressure from its dealer body, which AN reports hasn't been so keen on the price increases. The price reduction is something of a surprise following statements made by Cadillac President Johan de Nysschen shortly after he took office. In September of last year, the 54-year-old exec, who took charge of Cadillac in July of 2014, defended the company's decision to raise prices, telling Automotive News a price cut was "not going to happen." It seems current conditions contradict de Nysschen's statements, though. "We're taking what we've seen are the more desirable optional features for customers and making them more readily available," Cadillac's Dave Caldwell said of the price cut. "Once a car has been on the market for a while, it's not unusual to look at the customer behavior and try to optimize for it." In what's sure to be a pleasant surprise for anyone in the market for a CTS, the most expensive models are getting the biggest price cut, with the price on the Premium and Performance Collection sedans dropping $3,000, AN reports. The 2.0T will get a $2,000 drop, while certain optional extras will now be standard on the Luxury trim, including a panoramic sunroof, navigation and Bose stereo.
