1974 Caddy Eldo convertible up for auction with only 65k miles.
Engine, 500 V8 with automatic transmission. Options include disc brakes, telescoping and tilt steering wheel, 60/40 split power bench seat, twilight sentinel / auto dimming lights, power trunk release and power trunk pull down. including am/ fm auto-seek stereo with tape player. Mechanical: Caddy runs nice and quiet. The a/c (blows warm), the cruise control needs a new rubber "bellows" to work again. Cosmetic: convertible top replaced , top goes up and down easily with the push of a button, no help necessary. Power windows work well, Interior is like new as seen in the pix. The door panels and rear panels are also like new. The dashboard is perfect, no cracks anywhere. The carpet is in good shape and has no rips or bare spots. The Caddy paint shines and looks great for 40 year old car with only small imperfection’s . The chrome bumpers are in great shape, no pitting or fading. When you look at, get into and drive this car it's clear that's she's always been treated with love. She's roadworthy, all directional/brake/turn signal/headlights work, even the cool multi-color fender indicators. Engine always starts easily. Cruises nicely on the highway, holds the road perfectly, 8.0 liter V8 moves this big caddy easily up the highway with LOTS of power. The Caddy tracks straight as an arrow and brakes evenly, no pulling or fading. She idles perfectly and the suspension is luxurious. T he Eldo is almost spotless underneath; floors and trunk completely solid. This is the last year the Eldorado had rear fender skirts. Overall, drives like an American classic luxury car should. Cadillac CT6 beefs up with 400-hp twin-turbo V6
Fri, Mar 20 2015Cadillac's engine lineup is set to get a makeover led by the potent powerplants under the hood of the CT6. Our man Steven Ewing is onsite at an event in Detroit reporting all the details. Here's what we know so far: The CT6's top engine will be a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6. It's the first twin-turbo with cylinder deactivation, which essentially makes the V6 able to convert to a V4 unit. Power will be 400 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 400 pound-feet of torque at just 2,500 rpm. No word on what a potential CT6-V would get. The CT6 will also have a naturally aspirated V6 that Cadillac is claiming to be all-new. It's rated at 335 hp at 6,800 rpm and 284 lb-ft at 5,300 rpm. That's an improvement of 14 hp and nine lb-ft compared with today's 3.6-liter V6, and fuel economy increases nine percent. Cadillac says it's the highest output for a naturally aspirated V6 that's SAE-certified and runs on regular fuel. Both of these V6s will have stop/start technology and will be paired to with eight-speed automatic transmissions. The 3.6-liter V6 will also be used in the 2016 CTS and the 2016 ATS. Meanwhile, Ewing reports that Cadillac says the ATS-V is actually more powerful than initially announced, though there are no numbers to flesh that claim out as yet. The brand also plans to offer four- and six-cylinder diesel engines in various vehicles and new V8 options. The CT6 bows at the New York Auto Show. It will use an aluminum-intensive body that reduces weight by 198 pounds compared with a steel setup and continues Cadillac's creased design language used on the CTS and ATS models. The CT6 goes into production late this year in Detroit. The Gas Guzzler schedule, with mpg ratings and charges that haven't changed since 1991, lays out which fuel-swillers owe what to Uncle Sam.
I started thinking about the "Gas Guzzler Tax" - considerably less well known as The Energy Tax Act of 1978 - when I was driving Dodge's new Challenger SRT Hellcat last week. Unsurprisingly for a car that can burn 1.5 gallons of gas per minute at max tilt, theoretically able to empty a full tank of premium in about 13 minutes, the Hellcat will be subject to the Gas Guzzler Tax schedule when it goes on sale.
