1968 Cadillac Eldorado 86k Original Miles 100% Rust Free on 2040-cars
Albuquerque, New Mexico, United States
Beautiful 1968 Cadillac Eldorado coupe with 86,000 original miles. The car was purchased new in Palm Springs California, and has lived its life in the Southwest so the body is 100% rust free!. It is equipped with power windows, power door locks, power seats, am/fm stereo, power steering and brakes, and working climate control. Finished in its original Primrose Yellow color, the paint is excellent and the body is straight with no dents. The black vinyl top is in nice shape but has a couple small bubbles on the driver side bottom (See pic). The whitewall tires are fairly new and excellent condition. The engine compartment is original and clean. The motor runs excellent, and has a newer dual exhaust with a nice throaty sound, yet very quiet on the inside. The transmission was recently removed, serviced, and resealed. It shifts smooth and quiet. It has new CV joints and front shocks. The black leather interior is original and overall in great condition. It has some light cracking on the driver side but no tears anywhere. The carpet and headliner are excellent with no tears. The door panels are excellent aside from the passenger side having some cracking in the wood trim (see pic). All glass is excellent. It has the original jack and lug wrench still in its original cardboard/foam factory packaging. All electronics work except for the clock. It has the factory am/fm stereo with upgraded speakers which works and sounds great. The hide-away headlights work and look great. The car runs and drives great. I'm thinning the heard so some lucky buyer will soon be the new owner of this fine Eldorado.
This beautiful Eldorado is a 46 year old classic and therefore is sold as-is, where-is with no warranty expressed or implied. Vehicle inspections are test drives are welcome and encouraged, just contact me to make arrangements. |

Question of the Day: Worst year of the Malaise Era?
Thu, Jun 23 2016The Malaise Era for cars in the United States spanned the 1973 through 1983 model years, and featured such abominations as a Corvette with just 205 horsepower (from the optional engine!) and MGBs with suspensions jacked way up to meet new headlight-height requirements. There were many low points throughout this gloomy period, of course. The horrifyingly low power and fuel-economy numbers for big V8s during the middle years of the Malaise Era make a strong case for 1974 or 1975— the years of Nixon's resignation and the Fall of Saigon, respectively— as the most Malaisey years. But then the GM-pummeling debacles of the Chevy Citation and Cadillac Cimarron could make an early-1980s year the low point. 1979, the year of the ignominious Chrysler bailout? You choose! Petrolicious eats up Rita Hayworth's 1953 Cadillac Ghia
Wed, Feb 11 2015The automotive industry has seem some wonderful transoceanic collaborations between America and Italy, from the Ford-powered De Tomasos of the 1960s to the alliance between Fiat and Chrysler today. Of course it's also seen unfortunate experiments in between like the Chrysler TC by Maserati and the Pininfarina-bodied Cadillac Allante. But before any of those, there was a beautiful tradition of rebodying American steel at the hands of Italian carrozzerie. And this could easily be among the most gorgeous of them all. It's a Cadillac Series 62 from 1953 with bodywork by Ghia. It's one of only two made, and has a star-studded history. The car was purchased by Aly Khan, prince of the Nizari Ismaili muslims and Pakistan's ambassador to the United Nations, for his wife... who just so happened to be the inimitable Rita Hayworth. They split up, but she held on to the car. Today it's part of the permanent collection at the Petersen Automotive Museum in LA, so the videographical artisans at Petrolicious went by to check it out. You'll want to as well in the five-minute short above.
2014 North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year finalists announced [w/poll]
Tue, 10 Dec 2013The 2014 North American International Auto Show is right around the corner, which means it's high time we found out which cars and trucks would be finalists for the prestigious North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year awards.
The finalists - three in cars and three in three trucks/utilities - are dominated by American brands, with two-thirds of the finalists hailing from either General Motors or Chrysler (don't worry Ford, there's always next year), while outliers from Mazda and Acura can be found in each contest. Here now is the list of finalists for the big prizes:
