LaSalle Classic Cars proudly presents this totally restored 1957 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham! LaSalle Classic Cars is specialized in high quality American cars of the forties and fifties. We are located in the Netherlands, Europe, near the Amsterdam Airport.

This 1957 Eldorado Brougham is in like new condition and is complete with all the vanity items! Body number 155, in the original color of Deauville Gray (paint 118) with a lovely new interior by SMS fabrics in the factory correct Bayou Gray Cloth and White Leather (Trim 138), the carpet is "Mouton" (sheepskin). This Brougham was fully restored in Sweden and is complete with all the original vanity items that belong with this particular Brougham! A unique Cadillac as the experts know. For many it is the ultimate Cadillac! There are only 704 of this first series made in 1957-58. Equipped with all possible options then available, including; a 325 hp dual carburettor V-8, a stainless steel roof, memory seat, power everything (even the vent windows and trunklid!), air conditioning, transistor radio (for the first time, instead of tubes), cast-aluminium wheels, automatic starter system etc., etc. All these features are in working condition! These Broughams featured a problematic air suspension when new but like most Broughams this car has long since been converted to coil springs. The new price was astronomically high; $ 13,740. In comparison, a Ford Fairlane Sedan would cost you only $ 2,200. So you could buy 6 for the price of a Brougham! The so-called "vanity items" associated with the Brougham consist of the following: 6 magnetized drinking cups with a cylindrical plastic holder, a plastic case for cigarettes, a beveled vanity mirror, a notepad with Silver Cross pen, a bottle of Arp`ege by Lanvin perfume with gold atomizer top and a lady vanity case made by Evans. The vanity case was especially made by Evans for the Cadillac and features the famous Cadillac "V" on the outside and has the same color leather as the top of the dashboard. Inside you’ll find a comb, lipstick holder and powder puff. The notepad and mirror are stored in the rear armrest compartiment and are therefore color keyed to the upholstery (in this case white leather). The Brougham runs and drives great! It is extremely difficult to find a properly restored Brougham, let alone find one with all the original vanity items complete!! This is truly a unique opportunity for the enthusiast /collector! Dutch registration papers.

C7 Corvette won't spawn new Cadillac XLR [w/video]

Fri, 23 Aug 2013

Between the new 2014 Chevy Corvette Stingray and the even newer Cadillac Elmiraj Concept shown off at Pebble Beach, we were already expecting some sort of chatter of a Cadillac XLR redux. During an in-depth C7 Corvette discussion with Tadge Juechter, the car's chief engineer, Fox News asked if a Corvette-based, Bowling Green-built Cadillac will be built off the C7. Non-spoiler alert: the answer is no.
Juechter says that General Motors has "no intent" on transforming this car into a Cadillac product since the C7 has been optimized for the Corvette buyer, a consumer that's generally a different sort of person than a Cadillac intender who might also be cross-shopping a Mercedes-Benz SL-Class or BMW 6 Series.
While we're not ready to write off a future XLR altogether, we assume that the Corvette Cadillac experiment is most likely never going to happen again. The interview with Juechter is posted below, but the XLR discussion comes in at the 9:00 mark.

First-edition Detroit muscle raises millions for charity at Barrett-Jackson

Mon, Jan 19 2015

Amidst all the classic metal crossing the auction block each year in Scottsdale, AZ, Detroit automakers have a tradition of donating the first examples of their most enticing new muscle cars, with the proceeds of their sales going towards worthwhile charities. This year, Barrett-Jackson handled three noteworthy examples. The highest price among them was the first Ford Shelby GT350R Mustang with the VIN #001, which raised $1 million for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. General Motors donated the first new Chevy Corvette Z06 Convertible, the first retail example of the droptop supercar garnering $800,000 for the United Way. Along with the Z06, GM also donated the first new 2016 Cadillac CTS-V sedan, which brought in $170,000 for Detroit's College for Creative Studies. Although these were the headline Motown muscle machines furnished by the automakers themselves, they weren't the only vehicles auctioned off for worthy causes. A 1950 GM Futurliner bus donated by collector Ron Pratte led the charge when it brought in $4.65 million for the Armed Forces Foundation. Other lots included a custom Jeep Wrangler donated by SEMA ($85k), a new M5 donated by BMW ($800k), a '79 Oldsmobile Cutlass Hurst ($140k), '39 Cadillac LaSalle C-Hawk ($410k), Jeff Gordon's 1999 NASCAR-spec Chevy Monte Carlo ($500k) and a Victory Cross Country 8-Ball motorcycle ($180k). All told, the charity lots raised over $8.7 million for local and national charities. Weekly Recap: GM scales back as Russian auto market teeters

Sat, Mar 21 2015

General Motors' extensive plans to scale back its Russian operations are the latest sign the automotive market in the former superpower is collapsing – and there are few signs of recovery. GM said Wednesday it will stop selling mainstream Chevrolets and shutter the entire Opel brand in Russia. The moves leave GM with a luxury-focused presence consisting of Cadillac and Chevrolet's Corvette, Camaro and Tahoe. The cutbacks will be completed by the end of the year. The automaker will also idle its factory in St. Petersburg and end a contract-assembly agreement with Russian manufacturer GAZ. "We had to take decisive action in Russia to protect our business," Opel Group CEO Karl-Thomas Neumann said in a statement. "We confirm our outlook to return the European business to profitability in 2016 and stick to our long-term goals." GM is the latest automaker to scale back in Russia as the economic conditions, volatile currency and uncertainty over the conflict in the Ukraine all have sandbagged new car sales. Last month, vehicle sales collapsed 38 percent in Russia to 128,298 units, according to the Association of European Business, which records sales. Joerg Schreiber, chairman of the AEB automobile manufacturers committee, didn't even feign optimism in a statement announcing the figures. "The market is entering a very difficult phase now, and February is only the beginning," he said. "Industry sentiment is the next few months will be extremely difficult and the market bottom has yet to be found." The dovetails with industry experts, who predict the Russian auto sector will remain in the doldrums. IHS said earlier this year it expects Russia's sales to slip to just 1.8 million units in 2015, which is a 40-percent drop from 2012. Other News & Notes Chief leads Jeep's Easter Safari stable Jeep is bringing seven attention-getting concepts to Moab for its annual Easter Safari off-roading celebration in Utah, but the Chief is perhaps the standout of the group. It salutes the 1970s Cherokee with a throwback appearance and surfer styling cues. The Chief has a custom modified razor grille made famous by the Wagoneer, and it rolls on 17-inch slotted mag wheels. The surf theme comes in with ocean blue paint, floral cloth and leather seats and a tiki-style shifter handle. Based on the Jeep Wrangler, the Chief has removable sides, a 3.6-liter V6 engine and a six-speed manual gearbox.
