You are looking at a pristine 1984 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz with just 44,110 original miles!  ONE OWNER!  ORIGINAL California car with the original blue/yellow license plates issued in 1984.  HEAVILY DOCUMENTED with tons of records. 100% original paint and body.  RUST FREE

Cadillac introduced it's new down-sized Eldorado in 1979, it was an immediate success.  The new sleek and smaller Eldorado featured taught design and crisp lines.  Arguably it was one of the best executed "down sized" American cars of the late '70s & '80s.  The new design was elegant and regal, well proportioned, distinctive and luxurious looking.  The bladed fenders recalled the dynamic styling of the first front wheel drive Eldorado of 1967.  This was a true personal luxury car finally packaged in a very drivable and enjoyable size.  This body style was so successful it was built virtually unchanged for a whopping SEVEN model years!  The Biarritz is the ultimate expression of this beautiful design and is, in my opinion, the last really great looking Eldorado produced by Cadillac.

This particular car was purchased new by my Aunt and Uncle on July 18, 1984 to celebrate their 15th wedding anniversary.  They knew they wanted something really special, and a top of the line Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz was it!   They lived next door (still do!) to Don Bonander the owner of Vintage Cadillac-Buick-Pontiac-GMC in Madera, CA.   Don had them come down to the lot to pick out their new car. (Notice he's listed as the "salesman" on the original sales invoice pictured below).   There was a triple “Cameo Ivory” Biarritz on the showroom floor.   My Aunt and Uncle immediately fell in love with car, however my Uncle could not get past the matching “Cameo Ivory” leather interior – it was just too bright.   Ultimately they decided to custom order the car you see here.   This cars exterior is finished in beautiful ORIGINAL Cameo Ivory with matching vinyl roof but with the custom ordered and rarely seen pairing of “Saddle” leather Biarritz trim.    The contrast is striking and richly luxurious.    This unique color combo really plays up the glamorous look of Cadillacs last great personal luxury car, and is so much more interesting than the commonly seen white, black, and blue Biarritz cars.

In the last 30 years this car has traveled barely 44,000 lovingly cared for miles by ONE driver.  Those miles are 99% highway miles between Madera, CA and Carmel or Reno.   My Aunt does not drive to this day, and my Uncle (a contractor) has always driven a truck.  This car was for special occasions only and 100% garage kept and pampered.

The Eldorado Biarritz was Cadillac’s top of the line “personal luxury coupe” and was appropriately marketed as the the “Eldorado Dream Machine”.  The Eldorados were extremely well equipped cars to begin with.  Of course there were extra cost optional features available.  In addition to Cadillac's many standard features, this car is equipped with $4,836 of options to include:

  • ·         DOOR EDGE GUARDS  ($19.00)
  • ·         ILLUMINATED ENTRY SYTEM  ($76.00)
  • ·         SIDE MIRRORS – ELECTRIC POWER  ($101.00)
  • ·         ILLUMINATED VANITY MIRRORS –DRIVER & PASSENGER  ($140.00)
  • ·         CA EMMISSIONS  ($99.00)
  • ·         STEERING WHEEL – TILT & TELESCOPE  ($184.00)
  • ·         TWILIGHT SENTINEL  ($79.00)
  • ·         SYMPHONY SOUND DIGITAL CASSETTE STEREO  ($299.00)
  • ·         DIGITAL INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  ($238.00)
  • ·         CRUISE CONTROL  ($185.00)
  • ·         BIARRTIZ PACKAGE  ($3395.00!!)

*An interesting foot note to options.  My Uncle told me they ordered this car with the power passenger recliner option.  Somehow it arrived without it.  That option was something my Aunt really wanted for road trips.   The owner of the dealership felt bad and did them a favor.  I have an invoice dated 8/23/84 (the car was five weeks old) from the dealer showing that they actually removed a Saddle power passenger seat (with recliner) from an in stock new Biarritz and swapped them to this car!  So this car has the factory optional power passenger recliner but it does not appear on the original window sticker.

Exterior Condition:  STUNNING! This is a low mileage garaged Central CA car.  The owners pampered this car and it has rarely ever been exposed to rain.  The body and undercarriage are RUST FREE.  The ORIGINAL paint is like a mirror with no swirl marks.  The original painted dual band pinstripes in Saddle are perfect. All of the bright work sparkles.  There is not one door ding or dent on this car; just a few small flea bite sized chips at edge of  the hood (photo) and one scratch on lower drivers door below the bodyside molding (see photo).   The original Cameo Ivory Elk Grain vinyl roof is in outstanding condition (check the photos showing the original stitching - still clean and white!)  The brushed stainless steel portion of the roof is gorgeous also.  The car does have the typical brittle body fillers; common even on the lowest mile examples.  The front driver’s side corner is the worst; the rest are very presentable.  A complete set of front and rear (14 pieces) replacement body fillers is included in the sale.  These are easily color matched and installed when the new owner is ready. Two of the wire wheel covers have imperfections (two correct Cadillac NOS/never mounted wire wheel covers are included in the sale).  The car has BRAND NEW Coker American Classic whitewall tires with less than 50 miles on them.

Interior Condition:  AMAZING.  The leather seats appear like new and the driver’s seat shows virtually no wear or compaction of the padding.   It could pass for a car with 20k miles. Door panels and dash are PERFECT.  Leather steering wheel is perfect. The carpet is excellent and all matching factory floor mats are present.  My Aunt and Uncle have no children or pets and are non-smokers.  They have never eaten in the car. The trunk is as new.

Mechanical Condition:  All power accessories/features work as they should, with the exception of the power antenna which is currently stuck in the UP position.  The original R12 Air Conditioning blows ice cold and the heater/defroster functions excellent.  The Twilight Sentinel and all exterior lights - opera lights (with new bulbs) and fender mounted monitors all function as they should.  Outside temperature reads accurately as do all gauges, without any glitches.  The Auto Leveling System works perfectly as well as the power trunk pull down feature.  Even the original “Symphony Sound” stereo still sounds great.  The original “Gold Key Delivery” cassette is in the glove box.  The original Cadillac owners manual portfolio with warranty information is included.

This Biarritz starts/idles/drives/shifts like a Cadillac, smooth and quiet.  My Uncle made a point of telling me he has always run the car with the GM recommended coolant tabs added to the system.  The fuel pump was replaced in 2011 and radiator in 2006.  The car cruises beautifully and the 4.1 liter V8 gets decent gas mileage.   YES, the car is up to being driven anywhere in the USA – fly in to SeaTac airport and take off on your road trip!  Keep in mind it is a 30 year old car, so anything can happen on a long road trip.  I am happy to work with your shipper to get the car to you.

My Aunt and Uncle have retired now and it is time to part with their beloved Cadillac and entrust it to a new owner.  A photo of their last goodbye to their special Cadillac is included here. They asked me to handle the sale of the car for them as I have sold several cars via eBay over the years.  I transported it to my home in Seattle to facilitate the sale.  The car is located in Seattle, WA zip 98116.  The title is the ORIGINAL CA pink slip issued in August, 1984 and is clear and signed off (see photos).  All of the paperwork is ready to go.

These Eldorados are now 30+ years old and nice originals are becoming harder and harder to find.  Collectors are grabbing the nice low mileage loaded examples like this one and stashing them away.   This is a stylish and very drivable modern classic with excellent appreciation potential down the road.   Considering the exceptional quality, originality, detailed documented history, and low miles, it is priced to sell.  No disappointments.   Please note that I have uploaded a ton of high definition photos here.  You can click on any of them to save them to your computer which will allow you to zoom in and see what an exceptional example this car really is.

The car is 30 years old, so obviously it is sold as is, with no warranty expressed or implied. Something that was working today might not work tomorrow, or two months after you buy it.  Please be realistic, it is a 30 year old car.  I have tried to describe the car in the best detail possible, but I may have missed something important to you.    Please feel free to ask any questions you may have BEFORE making an offer.  I reserve the right to cancel the auction at any time for a local sale.

A $500 NON-REFUNDABLE deposit is due within 24 hours of the end of the auction. The balance is due within 7 days of the end of the auction. Wire transfer for the balance is preferred.  Cashiers or personal check is okay, but verification of clearance will delay the release of the car. I am happy to work with your shipper once the car is paid for and I can provide indoor storage for the car up to 30 days after the end of the auction. I reserve the right to cancel all bids and end the auction early for local sale.  I am happy to work with International buyers. Please keep in mind car will need to be paid in full and clearance of payment will need to be verified prior to the car being released for transport.

I have had the same eBay id for over SIXTEEN years; my feedback speaks for itself.  I have sold a number of cars over the years and every buyer has been very happy with their purchase. The checkmark neext to my eBay id shows that my identity has been verified by eBay.  You can buy with confidence.

2018 Cadillac XTS V-Sport Drivers' Notes Review | Cruise missile

Fri, Jan 26 2018

The XTS is a standout in Cadillac's current lineup. It's a throwback to the automaker's cars of the '90s and early 2000s. It's big, comfy and packs a punch under the hood, but there's only a slight pretense of sportiness, despite the V-Sport moniker. If you want a Cadillac that handles, buy a CTS or ATS. Still, there's nothing wrong with being a big, slightly soft cruiser. Not everyone is out to conquer the Nurburgring. Some people just want comfy seats and a half-mile of wheelbase. Our tester is the range-topping Platinum V-Sport trim. At $73,040, it's not exactly cheap. That said, you do get a hell of a lot for your money. This car has heated and cooled massaging front seats with 22-way power adjustment, a heated steering wheel, heads-up display, the latest version of Cadillac's infotainment system, Bose surround sound, LED headlights and adaptive cruise control. That's not including all the V-Sport goodies like Brembo brakes, magnetic ride and a howling 3.6-liter twin-turbo V6. Senior Editor, Green, John Beltz Snyder — Hopping in the Cadillac XTS, the familiar surroundings created a certain set of expectations. Like judging a book by its cover, it's an easy trap to judge a Cadillac by its interior (they all feel the same to me). Some of what I expected, I got: a smooth ride, hearty pep, robust driver assist and fussy audio and HVAC controls. What surprised me was just how urgent this motor is. On paper, that should come as no surprise. The V-Sport's 3.6-liter twin-turbo V6, making 410 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque, is bound to pack a punch. You almost forget what that should feel like, though, until you put your right foot down. There's no lag, and despite the all-wheel drive, there's even a little torque steer. The lightness of the steering means it's no difficult task to account for it, though. Speaking of steering, I actually enjoyed bending this through tight corners. It's a breeze to saw the tiller back and forth, and the car communicates the interaction between the tires — especially up front — with the road. I'd like to take this Caddy to the track. Associate Editor Reese Counts: I liked this car way more than I thought I would. I was expecting a DTS or STS with a fresh face and a bit more punch. In a way, that's what this is, but I don't mean that as a knock. I don't need every car I drive to be able to put down hot laps. Sometimes I want something with soft seats (that massage!) and a big engine to get me home quickly.

Jeff Gordon will come out of retirement to race new Cadillac endurance racecar

Thu, Dec 1 2016

Jeff Gordon is not a man who takes well to retirement, apparently. That's not a surprise at all, given that we've been talking about his return to racing since almost the minute he retired in the first place. This year, he's taken the wheel for Dale Earnhardt, Jr., who is recovering from a concussion, several times already. So we shouldn't be too surprised to find out he's officially coming out of retirement – the twist is that it won't be in a stock car. Gordon has signed onto Wayne Taylor Racing, Motorsport.com reports, and he'll join Ricky and Jordan Taylor as well as Max Angelelli. Their ride will be the newly-revealed Cadillac DPi-V.R racer, a Dallara-chassis car powered by a 6.2-liter pushrod V8 loosely related, Cadillac claims, to the engine in the current CTS-V. You can read all about the DPi-V.R right over here. Remember, Gordon has a total of 93 NASCAR wins to his name, as well as four titles. He knows his way around Daytona pretty well, too, having won the 500 three times. He's also dabbled in endurance racing once before, in the 2007 24 Hours of Daytona with Taylor, Angelelli and Jan Magnussen in a WTR Riley-Pontiac car. They ended up on the podium, so you can say Gordon's inaugural and only outing in endurance racing so far was a success. It's been a decade, so we'll see if he's rusty, although knowing about how competitive champions are, we think he'll blow out the cobwebs and get right down to work. You can read Gordon's statement over at his personal site. Related Video:

Cadillac drops the base engine in the 2017 ATS

Tue, Jun 28 2016

Cadillac, in an effort to boost sales of the slow moving ATS, is making some changes to the 2017 model. Most notably, the luxury manufacturer is dropping the base 2.5-liter normally-aspirated four-cylinder engine from the lineup, leaving the 272 hp 2.0-liter turbocharged four as the base engine. The base 2.0-liter ATS will start at $35,590, $1,380 more than the 2016 model, though that's partially offset by more standard equipment. The base model now comes standard with Cadillac's controversial CUE infotainment system with an 8-inch touchscreen display, a Bose surround-sound speaker system, and a backup camera. Despite the bump in price for the base model, all other ATS trim levels will see prices reduced between $650 and $1,100, depending on the model. The ATS was designed to be Cadillac's answer to the BMW 3-Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class. Though the ATS was originally released at a time where the Germans were slightly off their game, it's never quite matched up in terms of performance or customer perception posting disappointing sales figures compared to the competition. Cadillac has had problems getting customers into cars, and few ATS customers are converts from luxury competition. In order to offload inventory and lure in new customers, the company has previously been forced to offer big lease deals. Many of these customers have come over from more mainstream brands like Chevrolet and Ford. ATS sales have fallen 23 percent through May versus 2015. The car's market share has fallen every year since 2013, currently occupying just 4.5 percent of the compact luxury market. Unless Cadillac can offer some truly amazing deals, we don't expect many shoppers to buy American over the strong German competition. Related video: Cadillac Luxury Sedan
