Up for auction AS-IS and WHERE-IS is a 2001 Cadillac DeVille DTS with 4.6L V8 Northstar engine. It is a beautiful car with very nice pearl white paint, polished chrome factory rims, leather interior, and Bose premium sound system. The air conditioning works good. The tires have approximately 60 to 70% of the original tread still left. It would be a great car for a do-it-yourself mechanic if you had an engine from another car or a salvage yard that you could put in it. It needs an engine replacement or rebuild. The car starts but it is not roadworthy and will need to be picked up locally and trailered or towed by the winning bidder. The transmission shifts hard and will need work too. A part for the transmission was purchased based on the recommendations of a mechanic and is included with the car. It was being driven regularly until it started having engine problems last fall. I have been told the 8th digit in the VIN is a 9 which tells you what engine should work in this car if you have one you would want to install but it is your responsibility to verify that information with a dealer or salvage yard. It is a very nice car on the outside, and the inside is also in good condition as can be seen in the pictures. Please ask any questions through eBay messaging prior to bidding. Ghostbusters director tweets first photos of new Ecto-1
Wed, Jul 8 2015Ghostbusters is heading back to theaters next year with a new look. Rather than bringing back the original's aging comedic actors, four actresses are taking over the starring roles, including Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones. Although, one of the movie's major highlights is missing from that list – the Ecto-1. Originally based on a 1959 Cadillac ambulance, we're now getting the first glimpses of the decked-out, ghost-hunting wagon from the new version thanks to director Paul Feig on Twitter. Purists might like that the Ghostbusters are sticking with a Caddy, but the producers are going for a slightly newer, more macabre approach, as well. Rather than an ambulance conversion, the latest one starts as a hearse. Having the ladies driving a '50s Caddy might stretch the imagination too far even in a movie about fighting the undead. This approach seems like a perfect compromise between old and new.

A few years ago, Audi Of America's boss Johan de Nysschen went on record describing the Chevrolet Volt as "a car for idiots." Fast-forward to earlier this summer, and the well-regarded executive suddenly found himself in a new office with new business cards bearing the title: President, Cadillac. That means that among other challenges, de Nysschen is now tasked with selling the ELR, a car that is, at its core, a Volt in a sportier, less utile frock wearing a price tag that's twice as expensive.
Frankly, it's not a prospect we imagine the South African executive and recent Infiniti boss relishes. Just about nobody is buying the ELR - Cadillac has sold but 774 examples of its plug-in hybrid coupe this year and it presently has an almost a 200-day supply according to Automotive News. What's more, those numbers actually represent big improvements over just a few months ago, before GM started heaping on the incentives. The cynic in us says that the bad news for De Nysschen is that he's got a borderline sales-proof car in his new corporate garage. The good news? Cadillac customers apparently aren't idiots.
Cadillac ATS to go racing in 2015 as CTS.V.R replacement
Thu, 21 Aug 2014Cadillac has been racking up victories with the CTS.V.R in Pirelli World Challenge racing for two model generations now, including recent GT class championships in 2012 and 2013. However, even winning racers eventually have to retire, and it looks like the CTS may be taking a bow at the end of the season. In its place, Caddy is reportedly working on a new racecar based on the ATS Coupe, and it might even get to compete internationally.
According to Racer, Pratt & Miller Engineering is leading the development and is already lapping the ATS racecar in Michigan for testing. It reportedly drops the CTS' V8 in favor of a twin-turbocharged V6 powering the rear wheels. Since this is the same team behind the hugely successful Corvette Racing program and the current CTS.V.R, the latest car appears to be in good hands.
The new model would also adhere to GT3 rules, according to Racer, and that might signal a big change for Cadillac's motorsports program. It means that the ATS could be sold to teams in the numerous series around the world that accept these vehicles. That would broaden the luxury coupe's exposure and put it up against GT3 racecars from premium brands, like Bentley, Porsche and McLaren. If it wins, the change could be a marketing bonanza for the brand.
