I am selling this car for my friend Wanda it was bequeathed to her by her late Father. I have driven it for about 500 miles, and it tracks down the road straight as an arrow, blows ice cold air. It shifts smooth. The seats look as if no one has ever sat in them, it is a very clean car. It does NOT smoke, and it was never owned by a smoker, it does not leak any fluids including oil, whatsoever. The engine has very low miles, considering it's age. It is a small V-8 and gets very good gas milage, (way better than my Tahoe.) All the bells & whistles are in excellent working order, the electric windows all roll up and down the seats all work, the trunk opens etc. The registration and inspection have expired as of yesterday. Now for the bad news, the engine light is on, the gas cap light is on as shown in the photos, There is a dent/ crease on the passenger side rear (see photos) the key forbe has a dead battery, the engine light is on. White duct tape has been applied to the front bumper, wheel well and a few other places. Filler neck is rotted, Needs 4 new tires, brakes & rotors. Please keep in mind, Wanda is a nurse and not a mechanic by any stretch of the imagination, and neither am I. There is a clunking noise when you go over a bump a friend said it could be the torsion bar or maybe a shock? in the front. Needs 4 new tires, and whatever the reason the "check engine light is on"? Personally I would not hesitate to drive this car across the country, I have borrowed it and drove it back and forth to work last week, which is 80 miles R/T. Hence the 500 miles. Wanda has reached the law of diminishing returns and is not going to register, or inspect it another year. So Wanda has asked me to sell it for her. I welcome anyone to stop by and inspect it. The car is being sold as is as shown w/ no warranty or guarantee expressed or implied whatsoever. The junk guy has offered her $350.00, so this is the opening bid. As a bonus, I will pick the winning high bidder up at the Portland Maine jet port, or the bus station, or at a car rental agency within a 50 mile radius of zip code 03864. Wanda has the clear title, and will write a bill of sale to the new owner.

Weekly Recap: Lincoln Continental serves up the style, Cadillac CT6 delivers the substance in New York
Sat, Apr 4 2015Lincoln and Cadillac grabbed the spotlight this week at the New York Auto Show in a dramatic fashion that evoked the brands' glory days. America's two luxury carmakers went toe-to-toe with their glittering reveals and plans for ambitious expansion. Both were selling their technology, style and the promise of a better future. Cadillac vs. Lincoln. At the Javits Center, 2015 seemed a lot like 1956. Neither company was interested in drawing comparisons with the other, which is fair, and accurate. They're in vastly different places in terms of sales and the pace of their turnarounds, but they hope to reach the same eventual destination at the pinnacle of the luxury-car world. Lincoln used the element of surprise to great effect with the Continental concept. A production version is still at least a year away, and the company was vague on details. Officially, we don't even know if it is front- or rear-wheel drive, though speculation abounds. Who cares? The seats can be adjusted 30 ways! The Continental also showed off a bold chrome grille that will be the new face of Lincoln. The blue bomber also rolled on blinged-out 21-inch polished aluminum wheels, used a 3.0-liter EcoBoost engine and had huge LED head lights with "laser-assisted" high beams. All of this resulted in almost blinding attention. The concept drew rave reviews, stirred controversy with Bentley designers who argued Lincoln ripped them off, and most importantly, pointed a way forward for the newly determined brand that hopes to compete with Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Cadillac and Lexus. View 32 Photos Meanwhile, Cadillac showed the CT6, a finished product that will top its range and is loaded with the best and latest technologies General Motors has at its disposal. With production starting late this year, Cadillac had more specifics at the ready. Engines? Cadillac has a couple V6s and a turbo four for sure. It's working on a hybrid, and has considered a V-Series variant. It's based on a new rear-wheel-drive, aluminum-intensive chassis called Omega, features an advanced collision-mitigation system with automatic braking and has a cabin that's laden with "leathers, exotic woods and carbon fiber." It will be assembled at GM's Detroit-Hamtramck factory and goes on sale next year. At this point, Cadillac is more than willing to talk about every except for the price. The devil was not in the details for Cadillac, as evidenced by the CT6. But it wasn't for Lincoln either.

Top horsepower-per-dollar cars in 2017
Tue, Feb 17 2015Bang for the buck. That quasi-scientific statistic is bandied about by motor heads everywhere from classrooms to barrooms, though the truth of the matter is that it's exceedingly complex to measure. A fair performance-per-dollar index would include something like cross-referencing MSRP (Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price) with point-to-point times on a track or driving route, which is obviously hard to do comprehensively. But, for the sheer joy of talking about cars and playing with a big spreadsheet, there's always the horsepower-per-dollar index, which is more straightforward, albeit hilariously flawed. There are vagaries even with this simple formula, of course: MSRP for vehicles can change at a moment's notice, to say nothing of the bottom-line shifting that happens with local deals or showroom negotiation. For this list we're running with the straight MSRP wherever possible, and as recently reported as we can get it. All the vehicles on this list are 2017 models, and all trims are reported where the lowest price and differing power levels intersect. Some choices were made for personal preference and some for sanity, avoiding things like all 48 trim levels of the Ford Transit, all with the same horsepower). If this list were a simple top ten, or even a top fifty, you'd be bored to tears with all the red, white and blue that is represented. Following perfectly with conventional wisdom, American cars really do lead the world where hp/$ is concerned. So, for the sake of variety (and the sheer joy of seeing a minivan 'win' one round of this thing) I've sorted out some top five and bottom five lists for broad power categories. Let's dive in. Less Than 100 Horsepower Okay, okay, this is hardly a category we'll grant you. But we've often tried to click off all the sub-100-hp cars on sale in the US, and making this list gave us an excuse. It also illustrates that none of these smallish vehicles bring cheap horsepower to the table - for that you'll need a motorcycle. The segment-leading Chevy Spark (above) asks just over $139 for each hp, and that Smart Fortwo Electric Drive has hp on sale for about the same price as its very distant family cousin, the Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG (insert your favorite Smart joke here... we know you want to).
