1974 Cadillac Coupe Deville Base 2-door 7.7l (472 C.i.) on 2040-cars

Year:1974 Mileage:59787
Location:

Redondo Beach, California, United States

This is a beautiful 1974 Coupe De Ville, White over Black Leather. It has black leather seats with a new carpet kit throughout. Even the door panels, which normally show sign of fading, cracking and "elbow wear," are in excellent condition. The dash pad does have a crack in it but I cover it up with a dash mat.  Headliner is in excellent condition. It is the "new appearance" of the inside of the car and great paint that will really attract the period conscientious buyer, all items are correct down to the original floormats.

I inherited this Southern California garaged car in 2013 from the estate of a great uncle who drove this car for 37 years. The mileage is original at 56K.  He had a ranch and two trucks and a Buick and this was his “Sunday car” where he would go and to dance and play bingo.

The engine and transmission are truly mechanically sound. I just had the car tuned with new spark plugs, new wires, pcv valve, a new QuadraJet 750 cfm mechanical choke carburetor with 360 Degree Airfilter.  Very recent oil change and filter, all fluids have been topped off and rear end fluid was drained and refilled.   The car is in great condition.  I chose to do some restoration of parts that would deteriorate with time which included spending money on new front leather interior, carpet kit,  new battery, flush condenser and evaporator, replace some hoses, and service the brakes and new wiper blades. The clock is inoperative (very common on these cars but can be exchanged. 80% all original paint with some very minor imperfections here and there (great uncle was an avid golfer so there is a golf ball dent on the roof) but other than that it is good. There is absolutely no rust in the body panels and underneath the car is solid.  Electric windows, seats, aerial, wipers. Heater blows toasty and A/C is ice cold. The trip meter sometimes gets stuck but the odometer keeps excellent track of its original 56,787. The stereo system has been swapped out for a AM/FM Radio, MP3, Ipod with USB port.  New Sony 6”x9 “ speakers installed professionally on rear deck lid and reupholstered.

2013 Cadillac XTS [w/video]

The Cadillac Of Stopgaps
As confusing as most alphanumeric car names have gotten in recent years, at least one constant has been that the letter "X" is generally indicative of a crossover. Then why did General Motors use this letter on its new 2013 Cadillac XTS luxury sedan? Well, for that, we'll have to look to the world of mathematics where "X" stands for an unknown variable or a placeholder. Now we're talking. The XTS is just an interim product sitting at the top of Cadillac's four-door food chain until the brand gets a true flagship in place. That sounds like a lot of resources to spend on what will likely be a one-and-done model, but the automaker needed to get something - anything - to replace the DTS.
So here you have the 2013 XTS. A big luxury sedan that was created to bridge the gap between Cadillac's recent past and its pending future. Going into our week with this XTS knowing that it was a stopgap measure proved to be both a blessing and a curse. On one hand, we know (or hope) that this car will act as a baseline for future high-end Cadillac models, but at the same time, we couldn't help but be mindful of past stopgap models, albeit in more entry-level segments, like the Cimarron and Catera.

Cadillac to launch Super Cruise semi-autonomous technology in two years [w/video]

Sun, 07 Sep 2014

We all know that self-driving cars are coming. It's not so much a question of If so much as When. And when it comes to General Motors products, we now have something of a date to work with, as Cadillac has announced plans to roll out what it is calling Super Cruise technology in an unnamed new model within the next two years. As you would expect, this new tech can speed the car up, slow it down and keep it in its intended lane, but GM isn't expected to release a fully self-driving car, saying that it will still require "an attentive driver."
We're not quite sure what new model Cadillac will use to launch this new technology, but our best guess would be its upcoming LTS sedan. Other possibilities may include a new crossover - we've heard rumors of CUVS coming from Caddy both above and below the current SRX - or entry-level sedan, but those seem less likely than a high-dollar flagship like the LTS.
The next techy bit of kit currently being shown off by Cadillac engineers includes vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure communication, technology which would seemingly allow cars to travel in close proximity to one another, with less danger of collisions. According to our friends at Engadget, GM is working with the University of Michigan to outfit some 120 miles of roads in and around Detroit, MI, with the requisite sensors to make all this technology possible.

Lutz dishes dirt on GM in latest Autoline Detroit

Bob Lutz sits down for Autoline Detroit - Click above to watch video after the jump
Autoline Detroit recently played host to Bob Lutz, and, as is always the case, the former General Motors vice chairman dished out some great commentary. Lutz was promoting his new book Car Guys vs. Bean Counters: The Battle for the Soul of American Business, and talk quickly turned to his role as it related to product development and high-level decision making at GM. While on the topic of brand management, Lutz revealed a few rather interesting tidbits about his former employer:
All Chevrolet vehicles were required to have five-spoke aluminum wheels and a chrome band up front, as part of the Bowtie brand's overall image.
