Up for bidding today I have a 1974 Cadillac Coupe DeVille. 78356 original miles on this former Minnesota car. Was daily driven until last fall when the steering box went out, has been parked since. The motor runs smooth and strong, transmission shifts perfectly, brakes work awesome. Oil changed regularly, bright red transmission fluid with external tranny cooler installed. Clean and clear title in hand.
All glass is good, as is the interior. Radio has been upgraded, stock radio is in the trunk along with 2 sets of rear fin extensions, one set fiberglass and the other stock. Some chrome is also in the trunk, as there is very little on the car. The following is a list of new parts that have been installed: Starter, radiator, power steering pump, full exhaust, alternator, fuel filter, rear tires, and some other things I can't think of right now. It will need a battery to be driven onto a trailer, as it needs to be trailered due to the steering box.
The steering box is under $200 and can be found here: http://www.buyautoparts.com/buynow/1974/Cadillac/Deville/Power_Steering_Gear_Box/82-00275.html
I am moving out west in a few months and cannot store this vehicle, so I am forced to sell it. I have owned it since 2006 and it has treated me well. It could use some body work, as there is some surface rust and bondo where the Landau roof used to be. Front tires are old, but still have tread. May be interested in partial trade for '90s full size pickup. These old Cadillacs are getting rare, pick one up while you still can!
MUST BE PICKED UP IN WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI WITHIN 1 WEEK OF AUCTION CLOSE. NO DELIVERY AVAILIBLE. CASH ON PICKUP. SOLD AS IS.
Feel free to email any questions, and happy bidding.

2016 Cadillac CTS-V First Drive [w/video]
Fri, Jul 31 2015A million insects lost their lives today. Boxelder bugs and mayflies making the ultimate sacrifice in Elkhart Lake, their carapaces no buffer against a rocketing rectangle of safety glass. Their bodies gorily streaking into spangles along the diamond-faceted face of the Cadillac CTS-V. Road America is a four-mile ribbon of pavement snaking its way through the emerald center of the country's northern heartland. Since the 1950s it's seen uncountable fields of diverse racing machinery rocket over its hills and around its 14 corners. I would imagine that on those occasions the tramping of onlookers and hubbub of vehicles, both competitive and commonplace, would dissuade a great number of our six-legged friends from making their way onto the track. But today it's just me turning laps. Inconceivably just one journalist, driving the baddest roadgoing Cadillac ever made, on one of the loveliest circuits America has ever carved out. So big-winged bugs made it out to me in a vast array and a tragic sum, and I drilled through them oblivious to anything but one of the greatest days of driving I've ever had. Cadillac has turned its CTS-V from a performance sedan to a monster. For 2016 Cadillac has turned its CTS-V from a performance sedan to a monster worthy of the carnage described above. The words "epic" and "awesome" are hilariously overused on the Internet, but in the case of the CTS-V's 6.2-liter supercharged V8, their literal meanings are fitting. The capacity to produce 640 horsepower and 630 pound-feet of torque is astounding. Feeling those outputs come to growling life under my foot arch, uncorks different reactions in my brain as the day wears on: first trepidation, next cautious optimism, finally red-eyed bloodlust. A glance at the power and torque curves will show you that the charged V8 behaves more like a naturally aspirated thing than a turbo'd on/off switch. Peak torque arrives at 3,600 rpm, horsepower at 6,400, giving the engine lovely, linear power delivery. Even with top torque happening near the middle of the tach, there's no small amount of the stuff when the engine first spins up, so launching all 4,145 pounds of Detroit iron still feels exotic. Launching all 4,145 pounds of Detroit iron still feels exotic. On the roads around Wisconsin, using all of the available power is hardly advisable, but I have no trouble driving this fast car slowly (sort of).
How GM's grueling 24-hour test gets the kinks out of its performance cars
Tue, 27 Aug 2013One of the biggest challenges automakers face when designing a high-performance car is making sure that it is both fast and reliable. For General Motors, any car that might be taken to the track by its owner - like the Corvette, Camaro Z/28 (shown above) and the Cadillac CTS-V, for example - undergoes a rigorous and strenuous 24-hour test by engineers at the Milford Proving Grounds, as pointed out by Car and Driver.
We've posted on this topic in the past - on a video showing the Camaro ZL1 being brutalized, for instance - but this article gives a more in-depth look at what actually happens behind the scenes... including what that poor ZL1 went through. Though the test isn't for 24 hours straight, the cars are pushed as hard as possible by some of GM's best drivers with only the brakes and tires replaced frequently.
We don't want to ruin the fun for you, but it is an interesting article that tells just some of what GM does to develop its sports cars. Check out the full article over at Car and Driver for the rest of the story.
Cadillac planning its own engines, halo cars
Tue, 30 Sep 2014Cadillac is in the midst of some big changes. It's got a new chief executive. It's taking some distance from parent company General Motors and moving to a new headquarters in New York. And it's instituting a new naming scheme that will allow not only for a more clear progression in its lineup, but also for more models. But that's not the end of the story. Not by a long shot.
Speaking with Automobile magazine, Cadillac's new president Johan de Nysschen revealed his intention to develop several new models and powertrains. For starters, he does not want Cadillac to continue borrowing engines from the GM parts bin, but intends to develop a new range of engines specifically for the luxury automaker. The program will likely start with smaller-capacity engines but eventually lead to new V8s as well, taking the place of the long-serving Northstar engine that finally ended its lifespan a few years ago after some two decades of production. Along with other technologies, de Nysschen envisions possibly sharing these powertrains with other GM divisions, but developing them first and foremost for Cadillac.
The bigger question, however, is where those engines would go, and de Nysschen had some thoughts to share on that front as well. For starters, the former Infiniti and Audi exec sees room for an even bigger sedan above the upcoming new CT6 that will cap the current range. Maybe even two of them. But that's not all. Johan wants to see Cadillac get (back) into the sports car game with a new halo model or two - something it hasn't really done since the Corvette-based XLR roadster. A pair of new crossovers are also said to be in the works, flanking the SRX on both sides with smaller and larger models.
