For sale a 1972 Cadillac Sedan DeVille.   I am the second owner, and I have all of the car's original sales documentation and owner's manual, and a Service Manual I purchased myself.   All lights, including reverse lights are working, and the horn works. The car has a new battery, alternator, water pump, spark plugs, cap, rotor and wires.   Front tires are new, original spare still in trunk.   The interior was all four original floor mats with Cadillac insignia.  The left front fender had rust in the lower part behind the wheel.  It was fixed PROPERLY by bending up a piece of metal and welding it on, not filling it with body filler.   The only filler used was to dress the weld area.  There is some rust in the wheel well and fender skirt area that should be addressed.   The roof rail weatherstrips should also be replaced.   This car is on the road and drives.  It runs well and does not create any smoke or consume oil,  and still has plenty of pep for a 1972 with close to 125,000 miles.    The odometer reads 123k, but the speedometer stopped working recently.   The cable, or the gear at the transmission has failed, and both are a relatively inexpensive fix on this car.   I keep the car garaged, and do not drive it in the rain or weather.   This was a top quality car when it was built, which has allowed it to survive this long time.  With some work and paint, this could be an excellent car, or do the basics and just enjoy driving it!

Buyer is responsible for shipping costs.   If you are a local buyer, you may come and drive it away.  I have a clear MA title for it.

Question of the Day: Worst year of the Malaise Era?

Thu, Jun 23 2016

The Malaise Era for cars in the United States spanned the 1973 through 1983 model years, and featured such abominations as a Corvette with just 205 horsepower (from the optional engine!) and MGBs with suspensions jacked way up to meet new headlight-height requirements. There were many low points throughout this gloomy period, of course. The horrifyingly low power and fuel-economy numbers for big V8s during the middle years of the Malaise Era make a strong case for 1974 or 1975— the years of Nixon's resignation and the Fall of Saigon, respectively— as the most Malaisey years. But then the GM-pummeling debacles of the Chevy Citation and Cadillac Cimarron could make an early-1980s year the low point. 1979, the year of the ignominious Chrysler bailout? You choose! Combative de Nysschen defends Cadillac move, naming change

Mon, 29 Sep 2014

Johan de Nysschen isn't afraid of taking quick, decisive actions, even if they are criticized. Since taking the wheel at Cadillac, he instigated moving the luxury division's base of operations to Manhattan's SoHo neighborhood and introduced a new naming scheme for the future of the brand, like he did at Infiniti. The polarizing boss recently explained his feelings about the future of Cadillac in more depth on his Facebook page, but unfortunately only his friends could read it. Thankfully, Daily Kanban posted much of the strongly worded missive for the whole world to see.
Much of the message examines the decision to move some employees to New York. De Nysschen claims that it's all about giving Cadillac distance from Detroit to reshape itself. It allows for, "No distractions. No side shows. No cross-brand corporate considerations. No homogenized lowest common denominator approach. Just pure, unadulterated, CLASS."

Hennessy wastes no time in supercharging the 2015 Cadillac Escalade

Wed, 23 Apr 2014

The ink is still drying on the all-new 2015 Cadillac Escalade sales brochures, but that hasn't stopped Texas-based Hennessey Performance (HPE) from leaping out of the gate with its own high-performance variant. In stock form, the big fourth-generation Cadillac flagship arrives with a new small block naturally aspirated 6.2-liter Ecotec3 V8 delivering 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. Fresh out of the showroom, the 5,900-pound SUV will sprint to 60 mph in 5.9 seconds.
While that is plenty fast for some owners, others don't want to be shamed by a 550 horsepower Mercedes-Benz GL63 AMG or a 510 horsepower Land Rover Range Rover Sport - both will leave the stock Escalade at a stoplight.
The team at HPE has come to the rescue with its HPE550 supercharger upgrade, which includes a belt-driven supercharger, air-to-water intercooler, recalibrated engine management software and a three-year/36,000 mile powertrain warranty. With 6 psi of boost, the direct-injected 6.2-liter is tuned to deliver an impressive 557 horsepower and 542 pound-feet of torque - gains of 32 percent and 18 percent, respectively, over stock. Although HPE isn't releasing performance figures as of yet, our math says that should be enough power to put the two Europeans in the Cadillac's rearview mirror. The company also offers a set of 20-inch lightweight H10 forged monoblock wheels, to further improve performance.
