Here is what I have found while driving it… The A/C doesn’t work (fan will come on, but changing the temperature doesn’t work), the original stereo doesn’t work (but an aftermarket stereo has been added which does work) and the power seat doesn’t move. The power windows DO work, but sometimes you have to hold a switch down, let it go and then hold the switch down again. Car is available for viewing anytime or I am happy to help facilitate transportation to a local mechanics shop for inspection if requested."

Impressive ride... I acquired this DeVille Convertible from my brother who practices law in Orange County, CA. and he took it in as payment against a legal bill.  Here is what I can tell you about the car: It runs great, in fact we drove it up from California to Utah this spring rather than having it trucked up.  We also had a state inspection and emissions test done when we got it to Utah and it passed just fine. Also, the car has no visible oil drips under the engine in the garage where we park it which surprised us for a 40+ year old vehicle.  The motor for this year’s model was a 472 Cubic Inch V-8.  The odometer works and shows 49,379, but I have no way to verify if they are actual miles.

The top is in excellent condition, and the power mechanism to open and close the top works fine. The paint looks great with only minor rust showing along rocker panels.  We are quite certain the paint is original, and the white color has endured well over time (plus the car has likely been garaged for most if not all of its life).  In short, the car is ready to roll and is unbelievably fun to drive. When we drive this car, we have people giving us the “thumbs-up” from all walks of life, the car is universally “cool” to everyone.

What doesn't work? Here is what I have found while driving it…  The A/C doesn’t work (fan will come on, but changing the temperature doesn't work), the original stereo doesn't work (but an aftermarket stereo has been added which does work) and the power seat doesn't move. The power windows DO work, but sometimes you have to hold a switch down, let it go, and then hold the switch down again.  Car is available for viewing anytime or I am happy to help facilitate transportation to a local mechanics shop for inspection if requested.  No Reserve on listing... We really don't know what the car is worth.  We put a buy-it-now price that seems lower than similar condition cars sell for on AutoTrader Classic (fully restored are running $35k to $50k).    Please email with any questions...  Thanks and good luck bidding!

Cadillac chief says ATS convertible, wagon on the table

Wed, 15 Jan 2014

What we do know is that the ATS will wear at least one more bodystyle. That comes from Cadillac head Bob Ferguson, who answered "Absolutely" when Automotive News asked him about the possibility of another variant. What we don't know is what that bodystyle or styles will be.
We now have a sedan and coupe ATS, there's supposedly a V sedan coming. After that, a convertible is a likely option given that the man who just became the global product honcho at General Motors, Mark Reuss, admitted to having one already designed in 2012. The decision on it can't get out of the underworld and a wagon is the other option, but the droptop would seem to make the most sense if one considers the competitive set: the BMW 4 Series and Audi A5 convertibles are hot property and Mercedes is bringing a C-Class convertible. Meanwhile wagons are the sentimental utility vehicles that, refusing to die, seem forever destined for life support... CTS Sport Wagon, anyone?
Based on Ferguson's statements, it appears that what Cadillac definitely won't do is play model variant catch-up with the European luxury brands it has spent years hunting down, telling Automotive News, "We want to keep our focus on a limited number of vehicles and do them very well."

2014 Cadillac CTS

Fixated By Europeans, GM Ensures The Third Time Is A Charm
Few things are better for consumers than competition raising the bar. And no campaign seems fiercer than the one currently underway in the midsize sport-sedan segment now that Cadillac has introduced its all-new 2014 CTS to go head-to-head against the benchmark Audi A6, BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class.
While the CTS has been on the market for slightly more than a decade, up until this third-generation, Cadillac hasn't truly had the proper high-performance rear-wheel-drive architecture to build a genuine world-class fighter, both inside and out. And now that the American automaker has successfully mirrored Audi, BMW and Mercedes in overall vehicle size, engine output and cabin appointments, the first shots have been fired.

Cadillac moving to NY as separate business unit

Tue, 23 Sep 2014

Cadillac is under new leadership, and the automaker is committed to turning itself (back) into a global luxury powerhouse. It's got a strong product offensive (of products currently in showrooms, and much more on the way), and now it will have a new location to call home.
Following earlier speculation, GM has confirmed that it is moving Cadillac's base of operations from Detroit to New York. Lest you think it might rent offices in the Chrysler Building (which is, after all, one of the tallest in the city), the new Cadillac global headquarters will be located in the Soho area with a "multipurpose brand and event space in conjunction with modern loft offices." The company is still evaluating which staff will move along with it to Manhattan, and which will remain in Michigan where technical operations will still be based.
The move from Detroit to New York is the first major change being instituted by new Cadillac chief Johan de Nysschen, who previously undertook a similar shift in moving Infiniti away from Nissan headquarters to its own facility in Hong Kong. Ford had attempted a similar move in relocating its luxury portfolio under the Premier Automotive Group (which then included Lincoln, Mercury, Land Rover, Jaguar, Aston Martin and Volvo) from Dearborn to Irvine, CA, but ended up moving Lincoln (the last one still under the Ford umbrella) back to Michigan. Other luxury automakers like Audi (Volkswagen) and Maserati (Fiat) are headquartered away from their parent companies as well, but have a longer history of independent operation.
