Up for sale is a 1966 Cadillac Coupe DeVille my buddy bought back in 2009 in Merced ca. It's an original California car still sporting it's original black plates. The 429ci engine & A/T trans were rebuilt by the previous owner. Everything else was done since he purchased it. It was painted in 2009 back to it's original color which is Antique Gold Irredesent. We located original NOS interior fabric & had all the interior redone back to original & the dash pad is like new with no cracks. The air ride suspension consists of an Accu-Air block with Slam 7 bags at all four corners & 2 5 gallon tanks with 2 Air Zenith compressors.  Does FBSS & pancake. The front a-arms were trimmed & the rear was C-notched along with raising the floor under the rear seat. Lays frame on brand new Boss 338 22x9 1/2 with brand new tires. Just had the center console built by Auto Sound Lab in Fresno which houses the new Kenwood deck & Memphis pre-amp. Has 6k watts of Massive amps powering 4 15" Massive woofers and custom door enclosures & the 6x9's in the rear package tray. All the lights & signals work. All the A/C components are there but we've never tried charging it. Factory tilt telescopic.  Has 2 optima batteries. All the stainless trim was polished & the rear bumper rechromed when it was painted along with window & door rubbers. All the power windows are in working order. The front bumper end has a dent on one side. This has been a weekend cruiser & the owner hasn't driven it but a couple times all summer so he has decided to put it up for sale. I can help with shipping or deliver it to a port for a fee but the buyer is ultimately responsible for shipping.  If you have any questions send me an e-mail & i'll get back to you. thanks.

Artist imagines eerie world where cars have no wheels

Thu, 24 Jan 2013

The wheel ranks right up there with the telescope and four-slice toaster in the pantheon of inventions that have moved humankind forward. But what if a circle in three dimensions had never occurred to anyone, and we all had just moved on without it? Perhaps we'd be driving around in Lucas Motors Landspeeders with anti-gravity engines. Or maybe we'd have the same cars we do today, just without wheels.
That's the thought experiment that seems to have led French photographer Renaud Marion to create his six-image series called Air Drive. The shots depict cars throughout many eras of motoring that look normal except for one thing: they have no wheels. The models used include a Jaguar XK120, Cadillac DeVille (shown above), Chevrolet El Camino and Camaro, and Mercedes-Benz SL and 300 roadsters.
Perhaps one day when our future becomes our past, you'll be able to walk the street and see with your own eyes the rust and patina of age on our nation's fleet of floating cars. Until then, Monsieur Marion's photographs will have to do.

Cadillac ELR getting massive discounts, some up to $14,000

Mon, Jul 14 2014

Well, that didn't go as planned. General Motors had marketed the Cadillac ELR extended-range plug-in as a premium version of the Chevrolet Volt with some Caddy refinements. Now, it looks like that premium, at least from a price standpoint, is shrinking. Shoppers in a number of states are reporting that GM and its dealers are discounting the ELR in order to move more off dealer lots. The issue is that few people are biting at the official price tag of about $76,000, so GM has started offering as much as $8,000 worth of dealer and customer incentives, Transport Evolved reports. More recently, dealers in states such as Florida, Texas and Maryland are offering discounts in the $12,000-to-$14,000 range, and that's before any federal and state plug-in incentives kick in. It's not difficult to guess why. Through the first half of the year, GM sold fewer than 400 ELRs. Last month, Caddy moved just 97 units, or about as many as Tesla sells of its Model S in a day. Perpahs recent spy shots that reveal a test ELR that appears to up the sportiness quotient, with touches such as larger wheels and brakes, will also help sales. Check out Autoblog's "First Drive" impressions of the ELR here.

Bridging The Gap With Power And Poise
As you read these words, West Coast Editor Michael Harley is preparing to drive the brand-new 2014 Cadillac CTS along the gorgeous, sun-drenched roads of Southern California. And while I'll wait for Harley's full report before I put words in his mouth, I'm willing to bet he enjoys the hell out of Cadillac's new CTS. In fact, I'm sure of it.
I say this with confidence because, about a month ago, I spent the better part of a day flogging the new CTS Vsport around the 2.9-mile Milford Road Course - a challenging circuit laid out in the infield of an oval test track at GM's proving grounds in southeast Michigan. The MRC was built about a decade ago after Bob Lutz was lured out of retirement to work closely with GM's product development team, and thus, this circuit is known informally as the "Lutz Ring." The main objective of the MRC was to have an in-house facility for engineers to fine-tune vehicle dynamics, without having to constantly schlep cars over to Germany's infamous Nürburgring. (Of course, they still do.)
