1966 Cadillac convertible.  Same owner since 1967.  This car has been in storage since 1997 when the owner passed away. This car has the rare R code trim package which includes bucket seats, head rests, and reclining passenger side bucket seat. This car is loaded with other options including Air conditioning, tilt telescopic steering wheel, twilight sentinel, automatic headlight dimmer, AM/FM Stereo radio (first year offered), and Eldorado horn. The Red interior could be cleaned and used as is.  It is that nice so is the carpet. The top is good and so is the trunk lining.  The original red top boot is still in the trunk. The floors in the car are great with no rot I can see. The trunk floor is the same. The only spot I see an issue is the very back body mount is starting to flake away at the bottom, but is not gone.  See pictures.  The grille center bar is cracked, but another very nice grill goes with the car. The front bumper ends are rotted, but a set of nice ones go with the car. The left front fender is dented, which is very fixable, but I have another nice fender that goes with the car. I also have a set of steel wheels I’m having sandblasted and painted black that will go with the car.  The car fires right off and runs off the gas tank fine.  I have backed the car up and down the drive fine.  The brakes work when I pump them a couple times.  You could drive this car up on a trailer no problem.   This car shows 57,000 miles and I believe it to be correct, but can’t guarantee same. This car is sold where is as is.  Make your inspections before you bid. I can be reached through e-mail or Call 630-542-0031 with questions. $500.00 dollar pay pal deposit due within 24 hours of auction end. The remainder of payment is due within 7 days of auction end via bank transfer. Shipping is buyer’s responsibility, but I will help arrange. This is a nice car at a great price. Thanks For Looking!

Driving the 2016 Cadillac CTS-V at the old Elkhart Lake road course

Wed, Jun 24 2015

The placid community around Elkart Lake, WI, looks about as far removed from a glorious motorsport venue as you can imagine. A turn of the century downtown gives way to old-school resorts, beaches, and boat launches around the picturesque lake, with farms framing the rolling hills all around. But it was those very same meandering country lanes that gave birth to one of America's greatest racing circuits, some 65 years ago. Between the first race in 1950 and the opening of the dedicated Road America track in 1956, the roads around Elkhart Lake provided the setting for some great post-war racing. Competing on public streets was ultimately outlawed across the country, but not before drivers risked life and limb in the name of glory in the Wisconsin summer. Cadillac asked us out to the area recently, not to talk racing history, but to look forward at one of the most track capable cars the company has ever offered: the 2016 CTS-V. We got to drive the 640-horsepower beastie for an entire morning of hot laps at Road America, but unfortunately, we're not allowed to tell you about all of that right now. You'll have to wait until the embargo lifts on August 3, at which point we promise a full recounting of our adventure. Having the CTS-V for a full two days though, and in the spirit of the motorsport that imbues the air in Elkhart Lake, we took the Cadillac on a drive around the old 6.5-mile road course. Come for the new Caddy, but stick around to find out what the hell Wacker's Wend is. Cadillac Luxury Performance Videos

Mary Barra thinks GM is a leader in autonomous tech

Thu, Oct 15 2015

Saying General Motors is "among the leaders" in autonomous vehicle technology, CEO Mary Barra rapped about her company's driverless work in an interview with USA Today. Barra covered a number of topics, including well-known efforts, like Cadillac's upcoming Super Cruise technology, as well as hinting at "a lot of efforts that are confidential." "Things are moving quickly in autonomous [cars] because there's so many different pathways and the standards aren't even set. A lot of people can claim leads because people are making advancements in different areas," Barra said. "Next year we're going to have Super Cruise on one of our Cadillacs. On highways you'll be able to take your hands off the wheel and feet off the pedals – with a very creative way to make sure the driver is alert and involved in the driving process." As for those "confidential" efforts, feel free to speculate. GM has recently confirmed that it'd be running autonomous Volts at its Warren, MI tech center, which certainly indicates that the company is playing with much more than Super Cruise. GM will need to continue to embrace autonomous driving, owing to both traditional competitors like Toyota, as well as non-traditional opposition, like Google and Apple. Speaking of its competition from Silicon Valley, Barra was asked about two of the region's biggest names – Apple's Tim Cook and Tesla boss Elon Musk. "I have tremendous respect for Tim Cook, and I don't really think he needs advice from me," Barra told USA Today with a laugh. And when asked about Apple's future as a "viable competitor," she said, "I have no insights other than what I read in the papers. But it would be foolish for me not to assume that they're going to." As for Mr. Musk's openness about future products and how it contrasts with GM's relatively closed attitude, Barra also gave a chuckle. "I'm sure you would like me to say yes. I think we're fundamentally different. Look at our volume and look at the segments where we compete. His product line – his two products – his scale, it's completely different." The rest of Barra's interview is certainly worth a read, and includes talk about the Volkswagen diesel scandal, GM's changed relationship with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, and Uber. Head over to The Detroit Free Press website for the full story from USA Today.

GM intends to offer semi-autonomous vehicles by 2020

Fri, 30 Aug 2013

Prepare for a few years of technological saber-rattling, as the world's automakers begin pushing to bring self-driving cars to market. Earlier this week, Nissan announced that it aims to offer autonomous vehicles by 2020, while Google, BMW and several other marks are working on similar efforts.
General Motors is doing things differently, though. Rather than push for a fully autonomous car, it's continuing to refine its semi-autonomous Super Cruise, a product that we tested in April 2012 and that will eventually see use on some Cadillacs before trickling down to the rest of the General Motors family. Super Cruise, which is undergoing testing in the Cadillac SRX, doesn't take complete control out of the driver's hands. Rather, under a very specific set of circumstances on the freeway, it will marry the capabilities of things like lane departure warning and adaptive cruise control to allow the driver to take their hands off the wheel. All of which sounds a lot like the system Mercedes-Benz is launching on the 2014 S-Class.
The system is still in development, according to John Capp, GM's director of electrical controls and active safety technology. Now that that the biggest hurdle, steering control, has been cleared, GM's engineers can focus on things like teaching the system to adapt to differing road conditions and visibility levels. As we reported in 2012, Super Cruise is still befuddled in low-visibility situations or when road markings aren't particularly clear.
