1961 Cadillac Convertible **** NO RESERVE **** Cars History: About 25 years ago the owner at the time parked the car in his garage because the water pump was leaking. He removed the water pump and bought a replacement that was wrong and never finished the job. The car sat there over the years until it was purchased by a neighbor and then shortly after by myself. Description: This "barn find" is a very restorable project car and in above average condition for its age in my opinion. The car will be sold on a bill of sale, if you are a US buyer I can help with the documentation for importation as I am familiar with the process. Body: The body has the usual rust and dents but I consider it decent. I have not had it on a hoist but the rear floor on the drivers side has been patched needs work, a replacement panel is about 70.00 on ebay. The car is blue from factory, it has been repainted and touched up. There is some rust in the rockers one fender skirt is missing the other has rust. Look at the pictures carefully and decide for yourself and feel free to call me for a description of any area you are particularly concerned with. Mechanical: I hooked a gas can to the fuel line and car started and ran. The transmission went into drive and reverse and the brakes held it while it was in gear. I was not able to run it long without a water pump or drive it, but the engine sounded good and the exhaust was not loud. The car has been parked for a long time and will need to be put through the normal process of fluid changes servicing that would be expected before a proper mechanical assessment can be made. Interior: The interior is blue leather and in poor condition. I removed the carpet as it was musty and stained, there are no splits in the dash, the drivers door window switches and power seat switch is missing other wise it appears to be complete and original. The leather will need to be completely redone. The top holds out the elements but the stitching is coming loose and will need to be replaced. Reason for selling: I have several cars and not enough time to complete all the projects I have taken on, as a result some are being sold. Location: The car is located near Salmon Arm British Columbia. I can help load the vehicle and in many cases I can help arrange shipping. If your looking for a shipping quote I will only do this for the winning bidder as it is very time consuming for me. The Seller: Although I have 0 feed back, this is a second Ebay account for me, my main account is Maracars with over 700 feed back and 100% positive rating. I've started a new account just for the cars I'm selling for book keeping reasons. Overall: These cars are rare and desirable, I know this one is a little rough and needs work but this is your chance to buy a Cadillac Convertible for less than you paid for your house and drive while you restore it. The car is 98% complete so you won't have to spend time and money on hard to get parts and I don't think it is far from being a drivable car. If you have less than 10 feedback call me before you bid or your bid may be canceled. SCAMMERS: I've heard it all before, don't waste your time or mine. This car is for sale locally as well so I reserve the right to cancell the auction. If you want to view the car in person or by agent, or if you have any questions give me a call at (250) 515-1110 or send me an email through Ebay. Thanks for looking. |

Three automotive tech trends to watch in 2018 and beyond
Thu, Dec 28 2017Every year, technology plays a bigger and bigger role in the auto industry. To put things in perspective, 10 years ago iPod integration and Bluetooth were cutting-edge in-car innovations, and smartphones and apps weren't yet a thing since the first iPhone was only about six months old. And I can't recall anyone talking about autonomous cars. Compare that to today, with mainstream coverage of the auto industry dominated by autonomous technology, along with electrification and almost every move made by Tesla. These three topics were the most significant trends of car tech in 2017 and I believe they will continue to shape the auto industry in 2018 and beyond. Let's examine them. Full Autonomy Gets Closer to Reality While there were many developments this year that indicate we're inching closer to fully autonomous vehicles, I was behind the wheel for hours to witness one of them. In October I had the chance to test Cadillac Super Cruise on a 700-mile, 11-hour drive from Dallas to Santa Fe – and had my hands on the wheel for maybe 45 minutes max throughout the entire trip. Super Cruise is far from making the Cadillac CT6 or any GM vehicle fully autonomous, and has limitations such as functioning only on pre-mapped main highways. While it simply adds a layer of lane centering to adaptive cruise control, the technology will go a long way in making mainstream drivers more comfortable with letting machines take over. On a separate front, GM is pushing ahead with fully autonomous vehicles and announced last month that it plans to launch of fleets of self-driving robo-taxis in several urban areas in 2019. While most automakers are also in the race to make autonomous cars a reality, GM's turbocharging of its efforts appeared to be in response to Waymo, which announced just weeks earlier that its Early Rider Program in the Phoenix area would go completely driverless. The Early Rider Program launched last April, offering the public a chance to ride in Waymo's autonomous Chrysler Pacifica minivans. In this new phase of testing, Waymo is using its own employees as guinea pigs instead of the public while the vehicles operate without a human behind the wheel, and takes another giant step forward for fully autonomous driving.
Trucks and tidbits from GM's earnings report
Wed, Feb 6 2019General Motors announced this morning that 2018 was a good year for it financially, thanks in large part to the company's performance in North America, which was predicated, according to the company, on "strong pricing, surging crossover sales, successful execution of the company's full-size truck launch, growth of GM Financial earnings, and disciplined cost control." GM reported full-year income of $8.1 billion and EBIT-adjusted income of $11.8 billion. Crossover sales in 2018 were 1,034,808, an increase of 7 percent compared to 2017 deliveries. Throw in the body-on-frame SUVs and the ute number is a total 1,295,700. But let's face it: It is the trucks that really matter. The Chevy Silverado and Colorado, the GMC Sierra and Canyon. Altogether, GM sold 973,463 pickups in the U.S. in 2018. Although Ford gets bragging rights for F-Series sales, GM gets to point out that it has a greater aggregate number. An important factor regarding the trucks and the reported income is that during the last quarter, more than 90 percent of the new 2019 trucks were crew cabs (which have a higher sticker), and at GMC more than 70 percent were Denali and AT4 models (which have even higher stickers). According to reporting by Bloomberg, GM's pickup trucks combine for $65 billion in annual revenue. Clearly when the 2018 sales of the Silverado — 585,581— dwarf the combined sales of both Buick (206,863) and Cadillac combined (154,702), pickups are what matter to the overall health of the company in a way that it is difficult to otherwise achieve. The "disciplined cost control" is something that is very much in the public eye right now, as the company is taking out thousands of its workers, and there is still the "unallocated" plant situation and other plants that will remain under capacity. The numbers in GM's earnings report probably made Unifor members' heads explode in consternation, coming fresh off their Super Bowl ad: " GM, you may have forgotten our generosity, but we'll never forget your greed." But there are a couple of curiosities in the full GM earnings release. One is that so far as its autonomous efforts go, it mentions only that (1) in the first quarter of 2018 Cruise introduced a production-ready autonomous vehicle, and (2) Cruise attracted $5 billion in external capital from SoftBank and Honda. Not a whole lot of love for autonomy. Good thing they have the trucks to fund the program, to say nothing of the external capital.
Cadillac mulling CTS Coupe successor after all
Thu, 04 Apr 2013The 2014 Cadillac CTS made a big splash last week at the New York Auto Show, but now that we've seen the sedan, we can start to wonder about whether coupe and wagon versions are in the cards. According to Edmunds, Cadillac is at least considering bringing back the CTS Coupe for a second generation, which seems like an even better chance since the brand's global marketing director, Jim Vurpillat, was quoted as saying that the car was the top-selling luxury coupe in the industry.
Of course, this goes against reports we heard last year that Caddy's coupe and wagon would live on just not under the CTS name, but the interview with Vurpillat has us hopeful for a next-generation CTS Coupe. If it does come to fruition, we would expect the new two-door to have a largely unique exterior design like the current CTS Coupe, to echo that of intended rivals like the Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe and even the high-dollar BMW 6 Series.
