1960 Cadillac Convertible 62 Series " Original Unrestored " Great Project on 2040-cars
Freeland, Pennsylvania, United States
HERE IS ONE HECK OF A CAR THAT NEEDS TO BE RESTORED BY THE RIGHT PERSON, IN THE RIGHT MANNER. IT HAS THE POTENTIAL TO BE WORTH A LOT OF MONEY. THIS IS A ONE FAMILY OWNED, 50,000 MILE CAR. IT IS CLOSE TO 100% ORIGINAL. THE ENGINE, TRANS AND REAR ARE ORIGINAL. ALL OF THE SHEET METAL IS ORIGINAL. THE TRUNK STILL HAS THE CLOTH TRIM ALONG WITH THE SPARE AND THE JACK PARTS. THE RED LEATHER INTERIOR AND ALL DOOR PANELS ARE THE ORIGINAL AND ARE IN NICE SHAPE. THE DASH (NO CRACKS) AND STEERING WHEEL ARE EXCEPTIONAL. SOME BUTTONS MISSING AND SOME SEAMS SPLIT ON FRONT SEAT. THE RUG MAY NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE UNDERSIDE OF THE CAR IS VERY SOLID. THERE IS SURFACE RUST ON STEEL FRAME PARTS BUT NO ROT. THE FRONT AND REAR FLOOR PANS ARE SOLID AS IS THE TRUNK FLOOR. THE CAR HAS NOT BEEN ON THE ROAD SINCE 1983 BUT IT RUNS, DRIVES FORWARD AND REVERSE, AND STOPS. AMAZING. I REMOVED THE EXHAUST SYSTEM BECAUSE IT WAS BAD, SO IT IS LOUD. I WILL BE GLAD TO ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE AND LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING THIS CAR BEING RESURRECTED. THANK YOU AND GOOD LUCK! ( p.s. this is a 62 series not a De Ville model.)

Car subscription services: A slow, expensive start — but the potential is huge
Wed, Dec 26 2018Americans are used to paying for subscriptions — to magazines and cable television, for instance — but experience shows they'll cancel when the price of admission gets too high, or there are more tempting alternatives. Cord cutters ditched nearly 1.5 million pay-TV subscriptions in 2017, according to a survey by Leichtman Research Group. Cable TV started out cheap with basic offerings, and then got expensive. The auto industry's subscription offerings are new, but they're starting out costly, and not price-competitive with traditional leasing. The upside is that they take the hassle out of car ownership for busy people by letting the service take care of maintenance, insurance, licensing and taxes. And they give consumers choice, often allowing relatively painless switches between different cars in the automakers' lineup. Subscription services also point the way toward an ownership-free auto experience, and offer an easy transition to a potential world where ride- and car-sharing will be dominant. Subscriptions are here to stay, but consumers may take a while to "get" them. Lincoln's subscription service for lightly used 2015 to 2017 models, offered through the Ford-owned Canvas beginning this year, got off to a slow start. Many early subscribers canceled. Last month, Cadillac announced it would " temporarily pause" its $1,800-per-month Book subscription service for "adjustments" as of December 1. According to the Wall Street Journal, "Snags with the back-end technology used to support the service made some customer-service functions tedious and time-consuming, adding costs for the company." The challenge for automakers is to come up with a strategy that offers consumers a compelling, affordable option to regular ownership, and one that can also make a profit. I think they'll find that sweet spot, but they're not there yet. Jack Nerad, former executive editorial director at Kelley Blue Book and author of " The Complete Idiot's Guide to Buying or Leasing a Car," points out that "A lot of people expected that subscriptions would be very valuable for people who wanted inexpensive transportation, but the reality is quite the opposite. Subscriptions are offering more choices for the wealthy.
2016 Cadillac ATS-V brandishes 450 horses and 6-speed manual
Tue, 11 Nov 2014Details about the hotly anticipated 2016 Cadillac ATS-V are tumbling out, and they look to be everything we could ask for in a high-performance Caddy coupe.
According to Road & Track, the ATS-V will use a version of the twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter V6 from the CTS Vsport, but the wick will be turned up to 450 horsepower and 445 pound-feet of torque. In glorious news for driving enthusiasts everywhere, that potent mill will be available with either a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic.
According to R&T, the engine has a heap of high-performance tech to let it make the extra ponies, including titanium connecting rods, two water-to-air intercoolers, titanium turbines for the turbos and an additional radiator dedicated to cooling the gearbox and electronically locking differential. Keeping it all planted are a set of Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires, and a suspension with 50 percent more roll stiffness.
GM recalling 524k vehicles over hood latches and toe link nuts
Fri, 03 Oct 2014Just hours after confirming to Autoblog its intention to recall 97,540 vehicles in the US (117,651 in North America) for a possible manufacturing defect in the chassis control module of several models, General Motors is issuing two more campaigns that affect another 379,401 units in the US (524,384 in North America).
One campaign covers 290,107 US examples of the 2010-2015 Cadillac SRX and the 2011-2012 Saab 9-4X because the "rear toe link adjuster lock nuts" may be improperly torqued. If not up to spec, the toe adjuster link could separate and allow the wheel to shift while driving, making the handling unstable. GM says that it knows of three crashes and two injuries as a result of this problem. Dealers are inspecting the nuts and installing a new link assembly, if necessary. Autoblog first reported about this potential issue when it showed up on a list of recalls from Transport Canada.
The second recall is for 89,294 examples of the 2013-2015 Chevrolet Spark in the US manufactured from January 17, 2012, through July 29, 2014. According to GM, "corrosion can cause the secondary hood latch striker to stick in the open position." If this happens, and the primary latch also isn't engaged for some reason, the hood could fly open while driving. About 13,000 of these affected Sparks are at dealers and are being held until repaired. The fix requires replacing the hood striker. GM isn't aware of crashes, injuries or fatalities caused by this problem.
