1960 Cadillac “California” Coupe

My Intention Is To Sell This Coupe With EVERY Nut And Bolt I Have!

I WILL NOT “Part Out”, So Please Don’t Ask.

Not Interested In Trades

Born In California, Purchased In Hershey, PA in 2007

I have a number of other interests that will prevent me  from completing this coupe. Much of it has been completed by a very experience body man and professional welders who know how to produce exceptional customizations.

I completely understand anyone can buy a 60 Cadillac "running" for $20K, but more than likely, will need restored or at least "refreshed". To restore a 60 Caddy Coupe will cost you a minimum $50K for a "fairly nice" driver. $100K for a strong show car. So many steps, so much to accomplish. Tons of cash!

I've done most of the hard work. A good chunk of the body work cost, chrome cost per much done. Yes there is more, but its the "start" that's the hardest part. Now it's just discussions to make?

60 Coupe Body

This 60 coupe was brought in from California where is spent its entire life until 2006. It was titled in MI for a few months until I purchased it. Rust free and in excellent condition. I purchased it in Hershey at the annual Antique Auto Show on October, 2007.

The body was completely soda blasted, sanded and sealed approximately 3 months later. The under carriage was COMPLETELY stripped of all Cosmoline (used in firearm preservative), neutralize, sanded and painted black. The undercarriage is in beautiful, rust free condition.

The body is 80% finished with frenched doors with door poppers. All stainless trim has been removed and mounting holes filled. Left and right inner rockers have been repaired along with other miscellaneous repairs.

The left and right side “rear body” light extensions will need minor repair.

In terms of corrosion, this car was incredibly clean.

I have every original nut, bolt and washer for this car. They have been turned and cleaned.

Engine/Engine Bay:

This is or was to be a “custom, one off” 60 Cadillac. The engine bay frame was designed and EXPERTLY engineered to house a 496 cu.in. BB Chevy, that will includes a polished aluminum motor plate and custom made headers that fit perfectly and they have been power coated. No motor mounts were planned to be used, but ultimately it would be the new owner choice.

This 496 BB should produce approximately 500hp. The motor does not include the carburetor, but the intake is intact. Very nice motor that will push this 4,600 lb. Caddy around nicely. You won’t find finer metal work on an automobile. I do have the center link and driveshaft, but it will need to be cut and shortened.

Chrome Plating – Librandi’s, Middletown, PA.

I don’t have to tell anyone the COST and EXPENSIVE of getting parts rechromed. The list includes every part that has been stripped and beautifully rechromed.

I will apologize beforehand if I have forgotten a few parts, but there is SO MUCH still wrapped and I would prefer not unwrapping them until someone is actually interested in this car.

There are 49 chromed parts at last count at a cost exceeding $14,000.00.

All chrome pieces have been stored inside in a dry environment and coated with WD-40 and ALWAYS recoated from time to time, just to be sure! These chromed parts are in GORGEOUS condition! You get it ALL!

** Shipping this car and all parts would be complex and expensive undertaking. I would prefer local pickup only at this point, but would assist in packing and loading it all up if someone outside the area is interested.

I've never shipped a car oversea's or to Canada, so I prefer local pickup only.

I will accept fair offers, but PLEASE don’t waste with frivolous ones. I don’t have time for them. The FACT is I have over $38K invested in this car.

If you are interesting in discussing this car, please email me your name and phone number and when it is best for me to call you.

I will not communicate thru email. If your serious about this car, you will want to talk!!

Cash, Bank Transfer or Certified Bank Check Only.

HURRY before I change my mind!

I appreciate your time. I know it's alot of reading, but I felt it was necessary for everyone to understand what they can expect.

Best and Worst GM Cars

Thu, Apr 7 2022

Oh yes, because we just love receiving angry letters from devoted Pontiac Grand Am enthusiasts, we have decided to go there. Based on a heated group Slack conversation, the topic came up about the best and worst GM cars. First of all time, and then those currently on sale, and then just mostly a rambling discussion of Oldsmobiles our parents and grandparents owned (or engineered). Eventually, three of us made the video above. Like it? Maybe we can make more. Many awesome GM cars are definitely going unmentioned here, so please let us know your bests and worsts in the comments below. Mostly, it's important to note that this post largely exists as a vehicle for delivering the above video that dives far deeper into GM's greatest hits and biggest flops, specifically those from the 1980s and 1990s. What you'll find below is a collection of our editors identifying a best current and best-of-all-time choice, plus a worst current and worst-of-all-time choice. Comprehensive it is not, but again, comments. -Senior Editor James Riswick Best Current GM Vehicle Chevrolet Corvette We were flying by the seats of our pants a bit in this first outing and my notes were similarly extemporaneous. When it came time to tie it all together on camera, I failed spectacularly. Thank the maker for text, because this gives me the opportunity to perhaps slightly better explain my convoluted reasoning. I chose the C8 Corvette because it's simply overwhelmingly good, and it's merely the baseline from which this generation of Corvette will be expanded.  While the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing (more on that in a minute) is an amazing snapshot of GM's current performance standing and its little sibling so enraptured me that I went out and bought one, their existence is fleeting. Corvette will live on; forced-induction Cadillac sport sedans, not so much. So while all three are amazing machines when viewed in a vacuum, the Corvette stands above them as both a reflection of GM's current performance credentials and a signpost of what is to come. So, given the choice between the C8 and the 5V-Blackwing right now, I'd choose the C8. In 10 years, when the Blackwing is no longer in production and Corvette is in its 9th generation? Well, that might be a different story. Now, just pretend I said something even remotely that coherent when we get to the part of the video where I try to make an argument for the 5-V Blackwing as best GM car I've ever driven. Or just laugh at me while I ramble incoherently.

Combative de Nysschen defends Cadillac move, naming change

Mon, 29 Sep 2014

Johan de Nysschen isn't afraid of taking quick, decisive actions, even if they are criticized. Since taking the wheel at Cadillac, he instigated moving the luxury division's base of operations to Manhattan's SoHo neighborhood and introduced a new naming scheme for the future of the brand, like he did at Infiniti. The polarizing boss recently explained his feelings about the future of Cadillac in more depth on his Facebook page, but unfortunately only his friends could read it. Thankfully, Daily Kanban posted much of the strongly worded missive for the whole world to see.
Much of the message examines the decision to move some employees to New York. De Nysschen claims that it's all about giving Cadillac distance from Detroit to reshape itself. It allows for, "No distractions. No side shows. No cross-brand corporate considerations. No homogenized lowest common denominator approach. Just pure, unadulterated, CLASS."

Cadillac ELR, Nissan Resonance and Ford Atlas win Eyes on Design awards

Fri, 18 Jan 2013

This year's annual Eyes on Design awards were presented at the end of press days for the Detroit Auto Show on Tuesday. Given out for the best production and concept car designs that debuted at the show, and voted on by an esteemed panel of actual car designers, this year's award for best production vehicle design went to the 2014 Cadillac ELR. The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette, which was the show favorite among Autoblog editors, apparently did not impress the Eyes on Design judges enough with its all-new vent-festooned design.
The award for best concept design was actually split as a tie among the Nissan Resonance and Ford Atlas concepts. Last year's winners were the 2013 Ford Fusion and the Lexus LF-LC concept.
The Eyes on Design organization also presented a new honor this year called the Catalyst Award to Bob Lutz, former Vice Chairman of General Motors. Lutz is reported to have given a defense of design in his acceptance speech, arguing that advancements in quality across the industry as a whole have made good design a key differentiator for buyers.
