I have for sale here a really decent and rare 1958 Cadillac Fleetwood 60 Special.  This 50's land yacht starts right up and runs and drives good.  The brakes are pretty decent and the ride is very comfortable.  You and 5 of your buddies can cruise around town in real style.  The wide whites are old, but give a good ride.  The engine does sound very good and starts right up.  Pretty quiet exhaust.

The body is good and all of the stainless is there.  The stainless is in decent condition but does have the occasional screw.  The paint is average to below average and some crazy previous owner painted the rear bumper.  Bothe bumpers are solid.  The chrome is just OK.  The front and rear windshields are good.  The underside is pretty solid looking also with the usual and expected surface rust present.  Both rear floor pans have been patched amteurishly, but seem solid.  The trunk floor has rust through in a couple places along the edge.  Overall, the body and underside are very usable and driveable.  Some rust through on front lip of hood.

The interior is really quite good!  Its all original and the fabric is in good shape and looks very stylish.  Nice dash and steering wheel.  Very good headliner.  All of the power windows work.  This '58 has power vent windows but they don't work.  Th dome lights, map light, and cigarette lighter work.  The horn, door locks, and turn signal indicators work.  Has remote mirror.  Heater and defroster blow and the wipers work.  The fuel ga, odometer, and trip meter also work.  These interior items are not working: speedo, clock, radio, and power seat.  The power seat makes noise but doesn't move.  As you can see in the photos, the interior is in really good condition and can be used right away.  All front and rear turn signals work and hedalights and turn signal dash arrows light up and flash.

These 1958 Fleetwood 60 Specials are very impressive indeed.  Pretty rare too!  This one can be enjoyed right away, or restore as you go.  This '58 Cad would be a great one to start with.

Please feel free to ask any questions.  Sold in as-is condition.  Inspection available.

Cadillac HQ has a New York address

Sun, 16 Nov 2014

The new home of Cadillac will be in the 330 Hudson building in New York City's Hudson Square, putting the luxury marque smack dab in the middle of three of the city's hippest areas, SoHo, Greenwich Village and Tribeca.
The announcement is yet another milestone in the company's controversial decision to relocate administrative and marketing operations away from Detroit and into the Big Apple.
"The addition of a headquarters office in New York is a key step in Cadillac's ongoing global expansion," Cadillac boss Johan de Nysschen said, according to The Detroit Free Press. "There is no better atmosphere in which to better immerse ourselves into luxury consumer and brand expertise."

Carpool Deville aims to be the world's fastest hot tub

Wed, 16 Jul 2014

The world needs crazy inventors with wild dreams. While we might not long for the things that they create, their contraptions certainly make the day a little more enjoyable. Take the Carpool Deville as an example. Nobody (well, almost nobody) is asking for a hot tub fashioned from a 1969 Cadillac that is still drivable. But now that you know that such a beast exists, don't try to tell us you aren't at least intrigued.
The team behind the six-year-long project has a pretty ingenious setup worked out. The Caddy's original 472-cubic-inch (7.7-liter) V8 both provides propulsion and heats the water. The interior is entirely replaced with a watertight, fiberglass tub that includes working jets, and the controls are all done by hand.
As if just building a mobile hot tub isn't enough, the team behind the Carpool Deville plans to take it racing too. Specifically, they intend to go to the Bonneville Salt Flats later this year to make a top speed run while immersed in water at over 100 degrees. They even have a roll cage all set to install to meet the safety requirements there.

De Nysschen says Cadillac will be ready for a $250,000 model in 15 years

Fri, Nov 21 2014

Cadillac president Johan de Nysschen has some very, very lofty goals for the American luxury car manufacturer. That's according to a new report from Reuters, where the former Audi and Infiniti exec says that Cadillac is only 15 years away from selling a $250,000 car. "It is too early today for a $250,000 Cadillac," de Nysschen told Reuters at the LA Auto Show. "Fifteen years from now, it won't be." Now, provided de Nysschen doesn't envision a future of hyper-inflation, where an ATS rings up at $200K and a CTS at $225,000, the idea that Cadillac could sell a car worth a quarter-of-a-million dollars in just 15 short years is the very definition of ambitious. That's doubly true when you realize that, at present, Cadillac's most expensive vehicle is the Escalade ESV Platinum, which costs no more than $97,940, while de Nysschen said the upcoming CT6 sedan will be priced "in the 70s." What do you think? Could a Cadillac that costs well over twice as much as the brand's most expensive current vehicle be a reality in the distant future? Or is de Nysschen aiming too high too soon? Let us know what you think in Comments. News Source: ReutersImage Credit: Jae C. Hong / AP Cadillac Luxury cadillac ct6
