1955 Cadillac deville series 62 hardtop coupe CALIFORNIA CAR custom rat hot rod

-I am selling a 1955 Cadillac series 62 Hardtop

- car runs and drives but needs fuel tank checked out. When I got it, it had a 1 gallon fuel can in the front supplying fuel to the motor along with an electric fuel pump wired into a toggle switch

-this is a cadillac motor but not sure which of the 2 sizes it is for sure, from what I can tell there are 2 options: 331 or 365

-car seems to be very solid with only very minor cancer starting. Along the very back of the trunk there are a few small holes, and there is a 2 inch section of the lower passenger 1/4 panel that is starting to show cancer

-the interior is in excellent shape, the seats and door panels were redone, and nice carpet, the headliner is still intact and the dashpad is still very nice

-the body seems to be very straight 90% or better, but the brown primer looks like it was put on with a brush, the black looks to be sprayed. But at least having primer on it has helped preserve the body

-the glass is in good original looking shape but the front windshield has been scratched and has a chip or 2 in it

-This has been a California car for at least 40+ years (it appears that it may have been bought locally at Hubacher Cadillac of Sacramento if the license plate frame is correct) but having the blue and gold plates means it was from the 1970's. I am assuming if the frame is correct they just needed to replace them in the 70's due to lost/stolen/damaged plates?

-I unfortunately dont have a title for this car, it was last registered in 1985, so it is clear of the CA DMV system, so it will be sold on a bill of sale.

- the stainless trim is 90% or more there, there is a few boxes of extra parts that also go with the car, there are no hood hinges.

-The tires are in very good condition, the brakes don't work except for the e-brake, I have not inspected to see what is wrong with them. Could be anything.

-this is still a project car, a very solid start to a Kustom, cruiser, rat rod, hot rod, lowrider, or what ever you want it to be.

GM's Mark Reuss explains why a performance Cadillac ELR-V won't happen

Tue, Mar 18 2014

Hey, I've got enough things to worry about. That's one interpretation of General Motors executive vice president Mark Reuss' response to a question posed by Driving the Nation about the recently-introduced Cadillac ELR plug-in hybrid. Reuss said GM will "definitely expand the tuning envelope" for the ELR. The question was whether GM would consider adding magnetic ride control to the quite-powerful-for-a-plug-in Caddy, creating an "ELR-V" model in the process. Reuss' non-answer: "Good question, can't really answer that," but then elaborated that magnetic ride control uses up "a lot" of power otherwise spoken for in terms of providing the longest electric-only range possible. Interestingly, he did add that GM will "definitely expand the tuning envelope" for the ELR, as you can see in the video below. With the model retailing for north of $75,000, fewer than 60 percent of US Cadillac dealers were carrying the ELR as of last month and just 99 ELRs were sold during the first two months of the year. In an effort to sell more vehicles, GM said in January that it would offer the ELR for a 39-month lease for $699 a month for qualified lessees and with a $5,999 down-payment required. Autoblog's First Drive impressions of the ELR can be found here.

2014 Cadillac ELR

Mon, 29 Sep 2014

Well, this is awkward.
A few years ago, Audi Of America's boss Johan de Nysschen went on record describing the Chevrolet Volt as "a car for idiots." Fast-forward to earlier this summer, and the well-regarded executive suddenly found himself in a new office with new business cards bearing the title: President, Cadillac. That means that among other challenges, de Nysschen is now tasked with selling the ELR, a car that is, at its core, a Volt in a sportier, less utile frock wearing a price tag that's twice as expensive.
Frankly, it's not a prospect we imagine the South African executive and recent Infiniti boss relishes. Just about nobody is buying the ELR - Cadillac has sold but 774 examples of its plug-in hybrid coupe this year and it presently has an almost a 200-day supply according to Automotive News. What's more, those numbers actually represent big improvements over just a few months ago, before GM started heaping on the incentives. The cynic in us says that the bad news for De Nysschen is that he's got a borderline sales-proof car in his new corporate garage. The good news? Cadillac customers apparently aren't idiots.
