1955 Cadillac deville series 62 hardtop coupe CALIFORNIA CAR custom rat hot rod

-I am selling a 1955 Cadillac series 62 Hardtop

- car runs and drives but needs fuel tank checked out. When I got it, it had a 1 gallon fuel can in the front supplying fuel to the motor along with an electric fuel pump wired into a toggle switch

-this is a cadillac motor but not sure which of the 2 sizes it is for sure, from what I can tell there are 2 options: 331 or 365

-car seems to be very solid with only very minor cancer starting. Along the very back of the trunk there are a few small holes, and there is a 2 inch section of the lower passenger 1/4 panel that is starting to show cancer

-the interior is in excellent shape, the seats and door panels were redone, and nice carpet, the headliner is still intact and the dashpad is still very nice

-the body seems to be very straight 90% or better, but the brown primer looks like it was put on with a brush, the black looks to be sprayed. But at least having primer on it has helped preserve the body

-the glass is in good original looking shape but the front windshield has been scratched and has a chip or 2 in it

-This has been a California car for at least 40+ years (it appears that it may have been bought locally at Hubacher Cadillac of Sacramento if the license plate frame is correct) but having the blue and gold plates means it was from the 1970's. I am assuming if the frame is correct they just needed to replace them in the 70's due to lost/stolen/damaged plates?

-I unfortunately dont have a title for this car, it was last registered in 1985, so it is clear of the CA DMV system, so it will be sold on a bill of sale.

- the stainless trim is 90% or more there, there is a few boxes of extra parts that also go with the car, there are no hood hinges.

-The tires are in very good condition, the brakes don't work except for the e-brake, I have not inspected to see what is wrong with them. Could be anything.

-this is still a project car, a very solid start to a Kustom, cruiser, rat rod, hot rod, lowrider, or what ever you want it to be.

Johan responds to critics again about Cadillac's NY move

Wed, 15 Oct 2014

Cadillac's new President Johan de Nysschen has faced a fair amount of criticism since assuming his position at the head of the American luxury manufacturer. From the company's move to New York City to a controversial new naming scheme, the first few months of his tenure have not been smooth sailing. Now, the embattled exec is firing back against his critics, notably Automotive News Editor-in-Chief Keith Crain, in a new column running in AN.
De Nysschen countered Crain's claim that the move to the Big Apple, "can only mean that someone wants to live in New York."
"The relocation decision is entirely unrelated to the personal living preferences of any Cadillac executive. No corporation would tolerate such indulgence by its leadership," de Nysschen wrote. "It is about structurally entrenching a challenge to the status quo by reinforcing the psychological and physical separation in business philosophy between the mainstream brands and GM's luxury brand."

Next Cadillac CTS-V confirmed for Detroit

Tue, Dec 16 2014

As a car enthusiast, you should be excited for the 2015 Detroit Auto Show. Hell, we can barely contain ourselves – it's shaping up to be a great show. And this bit of news only heightens our expectations – Cadillac will be bringing its third-generation CTS-V to January's North American International Auto Show. That bit of high-performance news has been confirmed to Autoblog by Cadillac officials. In fact, we've received an official invitation to the brand's press conference, and while the latter is light on information, it does say, "it's time for the V-Series to elevate to the next level." Considering our last experience with the CTS-V, we're not sure what there is left to elevate, although we're hopeful that Caddy will come up with something. What that could be, of course, is very open to speculation. When the last CTS-V debuted in 2009, it arguably outgunned Germanic challengers like the 500-hp BMW M5 and 518-hp Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG for a lot less money, boasting a detuned version of the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1's 6.2-liter supercharged V8. Could that trend carry on, with the next CTS-V borrowing the supercharged, 650-hp mill from the new Corvette Z06? If escalation is the name of the game, the Z06 engine would seem to once again allow Caddy battle it out on firm, big-booted footing with BMW and Mercedes-Benz. Of course, all will become clear on the morning of Tuesday, January 13. Like we said, we can hardly wait. Related Video:

2015 Cadillac ATS, CTS recalled over brake issue

Tue, Jun 23 2015

A problem with the brakes on the 2015 ATS and CTS has prompted Cadillac to issue a recall. According to the notice below from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the issue revolves around the bracket that connects the brake pedal assembly and the rod that actuates the brakes. Even under normal operation, that bracket could fracture, impeding the ability to slow or stop the vehicle. That, as you're surely aware, could increase the risk of a crash. The issue affects a reported 2,163 vehicles in the United States. Owners will need to be bring their vehicles in to their local dealership to have those brackets replaced starting on August 1. See the complete recall notice below. RECALL Subject : Brake Pedal Bracket may Fracture Report Receipt Date: JUN 09, 2015 NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V358000 Component(s): SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC Potential Number of Units Affected: 2,163 Manufacturer: General Motors LLC SUMMARY: General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2015 Cadillac ATS and CTS vehicles. The affected vehicles have a bracket between the brake pedal assembly and the rod that actuates the brakes that may fracture during normal brake pedal operation. REMEDY: GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the vehicle and replace any affected bracket, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin August 1, 2015.
