Cadillac welcomes back Entourage favorite Ari Gold
Mon, May 18 2015With publicity for the long-awaited Entourage movie ramping up, we're finding that one of the stars of the film happens to be the handsome Cadillac Ciel Concept convertible. It makes a number of appearances in the trailers with Vince, E, Turtle, and Johnny Drama cruising about, despite the fact that it isn't actually a production vehicle. We guess it pays to be Aquaman and Enzo Ferrari. Supporting its tie-in with the flim, Cadillac has enlisted Jeremy Piven, famed for his roll as outrageous, obnoxious, abrasive, and amusing talent agent Ari Gold, to star alongside its droptop sedan. The pair are the focus of a four-minute featurette welcoming the actor's character back while expounding on the series-ending cliffhanger that basically made the movie a sure thing. Take a look at the spot, which was directed and written by Entourage creator Doug Ellin. And be sure to check out the brotastic HBO series when it makes the jump to the big screen on June 3.
Jeff Gordon will come out of retirement to race new Cadillac endurance racecar
Thu, Dec 1 2016Jeff Gordon is not a man who takes well to retirement, apparently. That's not a surprise at all, given that we've been talking about his return to racing since almost the minute he retired in the first place. This year, he's taken the wheel for Dale Earnhardt, Jr., who is recovering from a concussion, several times already. So we shouldn't be too surprised to find out he's officially coming out of retirement – the twist is that it won't be in a stock car. Gordon has signed onto Wayne Taylor Racing, Motorsport.com reports, and he'll join Ricky and Jordan Taylor as well as Max Angelelli. Their ride will be the newly-revealed Cadillac DPi-V.R racer, a Dallara-chassis car powered by a 6.2-liter pushrod V8 loosely related, Cadillac claims, to the engine in the current CTS-V. You can read all about the DPi-V.R right over here. Remember, Gordon has a total of 93 NASCAR wins to his name, as well as four titles. He knows his way around Daytona pretty well, too, having won the 500 three times. He's also dabbled in endurance racing once before, in the 2007 24 Hours of Daytona with Taylor, Angelelli and Jan Magnussen in a WTR Riley-Pontiac car. They ended up on the podium, so you can say Gordon's inaugural and only outing in endurance racing so far was a success. It's been a decade, so we'll see if he's rusty, although knowing about how competitive champions are, we think he'll blow out the cobwebs and get right down to work. Akerson says Cadillac will get a larger sedan within two years
Mon, 22 Jul 2013It seems that during a recent affair showing off the 2014 Cadillac CTS, General Motors CEO Dan Akerson confirmed reports regarding a new Cadillac flagship sedan. According to USA Today, which Akerson was visiting, he said that a sedan larger than the XTS would debut within the next two years.
This matches up with what we heard earlier in the month about a Cadillac model that will go up against the BMW 7 Series and Mercedes-Benz S-Class (not a pricier, low-volume sedan also discussed in that article). But this is the first time a high-profile executive name has been attributed to such a report, and the first time a broad timeframe has been mentioned. This article adds that the unnamed car will be rear-, and all-wheel drive with a platform "loosely based" on the new CTS, with styling closer to that car than recent Cadillac concept vehicles. The XTS will continue production of course, as well.
