Additional Information about Cadillac CTS 2012 V Model Overview The Cadillac CTS is offered in three body styles: sedan, sport wagon and coupe. For the sedan and wagon, two trim levels are available, starting with the base 3.0, which features a 270-hp 3.0L V6 and a standard 6-speed manual or optional 6-speed automatic transmission. The CTS 3.6 is powered by a 318-hp 3.6L V6 and a standard 6-speed automatic. The coupe gets the 3.6, and all three body styles can be ordered with either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. All three versions share a chassis that was developed on Germany's Nurburgring test track, giving it both good handing and responsiveness while remaining comfortable enough for daily road use--although a bit stiff for some tastes. GM's StabiliTrak electronic stability control is standard across the line. All CTS models come well-equipped. The 3.0L features 17-inch alloy wheels, automatic headlamps, dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, an 8-way power-adjustable seat, a tilt and telescopic steering column, premium vinyl seats, an auto-dimming rearview mirror and an 8-speaker Bose sound system as standard. 3.0 Luxury trim adds a power passenger's seat, driver's memory functions, heated seats, leather upholstery, a wood and leather steering wheel and Bluetooth connectivity. The 3.6 models feature the larger V6 engine, but also 18-inch wheels, high-performance brakes, upgraded sport-tuned suspension, a limited-slip rear differential and HID headlamps. 3.6 Premium, adds a 5.1 surround Bose 10-speaker stereo with hard-drive based music storage and USB/iPod connections. A Luxury Level Two package is also available on top of the Performance trims, adding rear parking sensors, heated and cooled front seats, folding rear seat, keyless entry and remote start. The performance-oriented CTS-V comes with an impressive 556-horse supercharged 6.2L V8 and the choice of either a 6-speed automatic or manual transmission. For 2012, the CTS-V is available in either sedan or coupe versions. GM's Magnetic Ride Control suspension is standard, which gives the driver two separate firmness modes. In addition to that, GM's Performance Traction Management helps wrestle all the V's power to the ground without limiting spirited performance driving. Special bold exterior styling touches complete the package, as well as unique interior appointments that include optional Recaro seats with 14-way adjustments and special suede-like leather wraps on the steering wheel and shift knob. A GPS navigation system is standard.

Cadillac shows 2015 Escalade interior
Tue, 01 Oct 2013Following the reveal of the new GMC Yukon, Chevy Tahoe and Suburban, the next in line is Cadillac, which is set to unveil the new Escalade on October 7 in New York. And in the lead-up to the reveal, the company has released this third teaser image, giving us a good glimpse of the 'Slade's interior.
Or part of the interior, we should say, because while the image above clearly shows the new dashboard and center console, as well as parts of the front seats and interior door panels, the Escalade is most certainly not a two-seat coupe. The outgoing Escalade can accommodate up to eight in either standard or ESV form (but not in EXT pickup configuration), and the new model promises to deliver the same, and we're curious to see what Cadillac has in store for the rear passenger compartment.
Compared to its more accessible counterparts, the new Escalade clearly offers a more upscale environment than even the uplevel Yukon Denali, with softer-looking leather, richer wood veneer and a waterfall center infotainment console that's different from the more modular design in the Chevy and GMC. The steering wheel is also unique and the instrument cluster appears to meld more smoothly across the dashboard, but the door mirrors, wide center armrest, column shifter and A-pillar grab handle all look like they were carried over from the Escalade's platform mates.
Genesis wins J.D. Power Tech Experience Study for third straight time
Fri, Aug 25 2023The results are out for the J.D. Power 2023 U.S. Tech Experience Index (TXI) Study, which "focuses on the user experience with advanced vehicle technology as it first comes to market and is an early measure of problems encountered by vehicle owners." Its measurement metric is problems per 100 vehicles (PP100), same as with the J.D. Power Initial Quality Study (IQS). The takeaway this year isn't that owners aren't using advanced technologies, as was the case with the 2022 study, or that they're having more problems with them overall. It's that owners of battery-electric vehicles are having more problems with advanced tech than owners of ICE-powered vehicles. According to the study, 17 of 21 features that can be had on both propulsion types — such as remote parking assistance and gesture controls — get lower satisfaction ratings by owners of BEVs, in some cases nearly 20 PP100. The survey organization says this tracks with what its found in the IQS, where total vehicle problems were "46% higher among BEVs (excluding Tesla) than ICE vehicles and satisfaction is lower among owners of BEVs across nine of 10 APEAL categories than among owners of ICE vehicles." Findings regarding biometric measurements are among those that go against the overall study findings. Whether a fingerprint reader or an eye tracker, car owners in general said "they do not consider them to be useful." In terms of ease-of-use and satisfaction, plug-and-charge capability on EVs gets good marks. This allows EV owners to plug into a public charger and have payment taken care of automatically; the vehicle communicates with any charging station compatible with an automaker's plug-and-play system, so the vehicle can automatically submit a bill for the charging session to a central owner account with no further action needed at the station. Survey respondents noted a mere 6 PP100 and an 88.9% satisfaction.  Among manufacturers, repeat winners took the top prizes. Genesis earned the highest rank for innovation overall and among premium brands for the third straight year. Hyundai not only won the tech innovation banner for mass market brands for the fourth straight year, ahead of Kia, GMC, Ram and Subaru, Hyundai finished in second in the overall standings. On that overall chart, the top five are Genesis, Hyundai, Cadillac, Lexus and BMW. On the premium chart, Genesis is followed by Cadillac, Lexus, BMW and Mercedes-Benz in the top five. It wasn't close from the first to the rest, though.
GM posts $4 billion third-quarter profit thanks to trucks and SUVs
Thu, Nov 5 2020DETROIT — General Motors is posting huge third quarter numbers, pulling in $4 billion in profit over three months after losing money due to the virus outbreak. GM's adjusted earnings were $2.83 per share, easily outpacing Wall Street's per-share projections of $1.43, according to a survey by FactSet. Revenue of $35.5 billion also edged out most expectations. Shares jumped almost 6% before the opening bell Thursday. The company swung back from a $806 million loss in the second quarter, when it was restarting factories shuttered for safety during the early stages of the pandemic. The Detroit automaker joined most global automakers in reporting better-than-expected earnings from July through September as sales across the globe started to rebound from coronavirus lockdowns, especially in China. GM sales in China jumped 12% in the third quarter, with sales of its Buick and Cadillac brands both rising more than 25%. In the U.S., GMÂ’s most profitable market, sales fell 9.9% in the third quarter compared with a year ago, but were a dramatic improvement over the 34% drop in the second quarter. Sales improved sequentially each month, the automaker said, an encouraging trend. GMÂ’s profit was boosted by higher-priced pickup trucks and large SUVs, which have seen strong sales in the U.S. through the pandemic. It was the best quarter on record for GM's Chevrolet Blazer. Sales of the Cadillac XT6 spiked 45% in the U.S. over last year. Large pickups also sold well. GM also said it was pumping $2 billion into its Spring Hill, Tennessee manufacturing plant to push its transition to produce electric vehicles. Last week, crosstown rivals Fiat Chrysler and Ford reported strong third-quarter net income. FCA said it made $1.4 billion for the period, while Ford earned $2.39 billion.
