2005 Cadillac Cts Base Sedan 4-door 3.6l on 2040-cars
Montgomery, Illinois, United States
I purchased a stunning 2005 Cadillac CTS 3.6L from Don McCue Chevrolet in St. Charles at the start of the year. The car was on the lot for $10,000.
A few weeks ago I got a check engine light stating that cylinder 1 was misfiring. I took it to the mechanic and apparently the passenger side head needs to be replaced (the water jacket in cylinder 1 is broken). I'm heading back to school and have no extra money for repairs right now. Besides that, the car is in excellent condition! Clean CarFax, No accidents. It is fully loaded with a brand new touch screen navigation system that includes a Kenwood amp and Kicker door speakers paired with a stock subwoofer. It also features dual heated leather seats, dual climate control, steering wheel controls, tinted windows, V badges, new brakes and brake pads, just had a full synthetic oil change, upgraded headlights, upgraded white diamond pearl paint, and much more! I have all the paperwork for the work done since I purchased the car. As shown in the pictures there is a minor scrap on the rear bumper that was there when I purchased the car. In its current state, my mechanic highly advised waiting until the head is fixed to start the car. If it runs as is, it could cause further damage to the engine! Therefore, it will need to be towed! Buyer is responsible for all towing costs, etc. That being said, the car is sold AS-IS with NO WARRANTY, NO RETURNS, ETC. The car Blue Books for $8,445 without any upgrades! Nice car, I hate to see it go. For additional details and questions please call/text anytime 630-809-8618. |

GM recalling 8.4M cars, 8.2M related to ignition problems
Mon, 30 Jun 2014General Motors today announced a truly massive recall covering some 8.4 million vehicles in North America. Most significantly, 8.2 million examples of the affected vehicles are being called back due to "unintended ignition key rotation," though GM spokesperson Alan Adler tells Autoblog that this issue is not like the infamous Chevy Cobalt ignition switch fiasco.
For the sake of perspective, translated to US population, this total recall figure would equal a car for each resident of New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware, South Dakota, Alaska, North Dakota, the District of Columbia, Vermont and Wyoming. Combined. Here's how it all breaks down:
7,610,862 vehicles in North America being recalled for unintended ignition key rotation. 6,805,679 are in the United States.
GM recalls 61k more vehicles in three campaigns
Sun, 05 Oct 2014Following a stop-delivery order for its new midsize trucks and a rash of recent recalls, General Motors is issuing three more campaigns covering 60,575 vehicles in North America with 57,182 of them in the US. As of October 1, the automaker has issued a total of 74 recalls (see the ridiculously long chart to the right) this year covering 26,495,070 units in the US.
The largest campaign covers 46,873 examples in the US of the 2008-2009 Pontiac G8 and 2011-2013 Chevrolet Caprice Police Patrol Vehicle imported from Australia. It's possible for the driver's knee to hit the key and make it move from the "Run" to "ACC" position while driving. GM says its Holden division is developing a fixed-blade key that's supposed to fix the problem by only allowing it to rotate toward the "On" position. There has been one crash caused by this fault but no injuries or fatalities.
The second recall is for 10,005 units of the 2004-2007 Cadillac CTS-V and 2006-2007 Cadillac STS-V because "the fuel pump module electrical terminal may overheat." This can cause a flange to melt and allow the pump to leak fuel. GM specifies that the remedy for the CTS-V is replacing the fuel module and fuel tank jumper harness, but it doesn't specify how the STS-V is being repaired.
Combative de Nysschen defends Cadillac move, naming change
Mon, 29 Sep 2014
Johan de Nysschen isn't afraid of taking quick, decisive actions, even if they are criticized. Since taking the wheel at Cadillac, he instigated moving the luxury division's base of operations to Manhattan's SoHo neighborhood and introduced a new naming scheme for the future of the brand, like he did at Infiniti. The polarizing boss recently explained his feelings about the future of Cadillac in more depth on his Facebook page, but unfortunately only his friends could read it. Thankfully, Daily Kanban posted much of the strongly worded missive for the whole world to see.
Much of the message examines the decision to move some employees to New York. De Nysschen claims that it's all about giving Cadillac distance from Detroit to reshape itself. It allows for, "No distractions. No side shows. No cross-brand corporate considerations. No homogenized lowest common denominator approach. Just pure, unadulterated, CLASS."
