1990 Cadillac Allante. This is a great car, lots of fun. Champagne Frost Metallic with a tan leather interior. 150k miles on her and everything works! Dash is bright, radio plays....everything.
This is a rare girl. Designed by Pinin Farina and built on the worlds longest production line (started in Turin Italy and finished in Detroit Michigan), she is a cousin to the Ferraris of the same time frame. With 23k cars built over a 7 year period, the Allante Owners Club estimates fewer than 12k left on the road. She is a 2nd gen car with the exception of the top which still has manual pull downs (yep, using up parts) which means she is a rare "transition" car. This is a blessing in disguise as the electric ones stink. This beast just had 1300 bucks worth of air conditioning work done at Car Tech here in Indy. They are known as the Cadillac Specialists and really looked this girl over. New hoses, new air and top cables repaired and adjusted. She has new wheels and tires from Discount Tire 2 months ago, plus the factory units. This beast also has the color matched aluminum hardtop with stand.
She has a couple of door dings and a few scratches, plus shows evidence of a bit of paintwork here and there, but her Carfax is clean (no accidents) and shows all local service (Lockhart Cadillac, Tutweiller Cadillac, O'Brien Group). The previous owner had a new transmission put in at 142k (Aamco...all papers). I also just replaced the battery. All receipts come with the car.
The interior needs a couple of bolsters replaced, as well as the arm rest recovered and the shift knob refinished. This was quoted at about 600 bucks at a local custom upholstery shop here in Indy. Also, the soft top was not folded properly and has the dreaded holes from the frame arms. A new top would be in order to be pristine, but she doesn't leak badly. It's good enough to drive with it down and toss it up when a storm pops in.
This car runs and drives great. The 4.5 Caddy pulls like a mule and it handles like a slot car. The Italian heritage shows through, but the Cadillac drivetrain is a winner all the way.
This is a good solid car that looks like a million bucks, but is cheap enough to be driven every day and enjoyed. Hey, it's a car....it's supposed to be driven. But it is an aluminum bodied sports car and that means rare. CarFax lists a suggested price add of $1600 because of complete maintenance history. Look up the NADA and bid accordingly.

Hennessy wastes no time in supercharging the 2015 Cadillac Escalade
Wed, 23 Apr 2014The ink is still drying on the all-new 2015 Cadillac Escalade sales brochures, but that hasn't stopped Texas-based Hennessey Performance (HPE) from leaping out of the gate with its own high-performance variant. In stock form, the big fourth-generation Cadillac flagship arrives with a new small block naturally aspirated 6.2-liter Ecotec3 V8 delivering 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. Fresh out of the showroom, the 5,900-pound SUV will sprint to 60 mph in 5.9 seconds.
While that is plenty fast for some owners, others don't want to be shamed by a 550 horsepower Mercedes-Benz GL63 AMG or a 510 horsepower Land Rover Range Rover Sport - both will leave the stock Escalade at a stoplight.
The team at HPE has come to the rescue with its HPE550 supercharger upgrade, which includes a belt-driven supercharger, air-to-water intercooler, recalibrated engine management software and a three-year/36,000 mile powertrain warranty. With 6 psi of boost, the direct-injected 6.2-liter is tuned to deliver an impressive 557 horsepower and 542 pound-feet of torque - gains of 32 percent and 18 percent, respectively, over stock. Although HPE isn't releasing performance figures as of yet, our math says that should be enough power to put the two Europeans in the Cadillac's rearview mirror. The company also offers a set of 20-inch lightweight H10 forged monoblock wheels, to further improve performance.
Ford C-Max spot aimed squarely at Cadillac ELR 'Poolside' hubris [UPDATE]
Thu, Mar 27 2014If we had tried to predict the first video response to the controversial Poolside video for the Cadillac ELR, we would not have thought it would center on compost. But, hey, it's always nice to be reminded that the real world is sometimes better than fiction. Instead of the chic swagger of 'Poolside,' 'Anything Is Possible' is all about getting dirty. The new short in question is called Upside: Anything Is Possible and it promotes two things: Detroit Dirt and the Ford C-Max Energi. As in the ELR ad, Ford's plug-in C-Max only makes an appearance at the tail end of the spot, but instead of the chic swagger of Poolside, Anything Is Possible is all about getting dirty. The ad stars Pashon Murray, co-founder of Detroit Dirt, which takes natural waste from around Detroit, composts it into soil and then spreads that around "forgotten parcels" of Detroit to create urban farms. Detroit Dirt gets its bio-waste from a lot of sources, including the Detroit Zoological Society (all that herbivore manure has to go somewhere), Ford and General Motors, but this particular ad was the idea of Ford's PR agency, Team Detroit. It was a frenetic shoot, filmed with an LA-based director right after a big winter storm blew through Detroit, and Murray couldn't be happier with the result. "This was Ford Motor Company pushing my story, letting me tell the story that I believe in," Murray tells AutoblogGreen. "I get to help push this car and I get to tell my story." She says that the Team Detroit and Ford had to agree on the message, "from my understanding, [YouTube] is where they wanted to start, not where they wanted to finish." The ad is already getting a positive response on Twitter, so we won't be surprised if it shows up in more places soon. "It's not saying Ford is better than GM. It's telling the story of a black woman who's working hard in Detroit." As Detroit Dirt has off-screen support from both GM and Ford, it's unsurprising to hear Murray say that the video "is not a rivalry thing." She notes that the ad agency Team Detroit came to her and offered to tell the Detroit Dirt story using the framework of the GM ad. "It's a parody on this commercial, but it's not saying Ford is better than GM," she said. "It's telling the story of a black woman who's working hard in Detroit." What is that story? It's about urban farming, recovery and recycling. Murray tells us that for the last seven or eight years, she's been dedicated to sustainability.
Cadillac CT6 to be lighter than CTS, get PHEV model
Mon, 06 Oct 2014Cadillac is suddenly one of the most talked about automakers in the US with Johan de Nysschen taking control. The brand claims that it eventually wants to become, once again, the standard of the world. One of the first vehicles to actually prove whether that's possible is its upcoming CT6 flagship sedan. We still don't know what the production version looks like undisguised, but other important details are falling into place. The latest big news sheds some light on the Caddy's powertrain and some estimates of its weight and size.
General Motors product chief Mark Reuss dropped the details at the automaker's Global Business Conference. According to The Detroit News, he revealed that the CT6 would use a twin-turbocharged, 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine with an eight-speed automatic transmission, and a plug-in hybrid would be an additional option. He reportedly claimed it would be the most "powerful six-cylinder gas engine in the segment" and said the hybrid could get around 70 miles per gallon.
Reuss also revealed that the CT6 would be about 53 pounds lighter than the current CTS, despite being about 8 inches longer, according to The Detroit News. If that's the case, the new flagship is about 203.5-inches long, which is 1.5-inches more than the XTS.
