If you have been looking for something special and unique then here it is! Your heart will skip a beat every time you see this car! I have decided to sell my non-smoker collector 1988 Cadillac Allante that is from my personal collection of collector cars. 26 years old and on Hagerty Antique Insurance for $150 a year full coverage!! The car is an excellent example of a very rare and collectible vehicle. I always wanted to put Dayton wire wheels and Vogue tires on one of these and I believe that this makes the car. (it should make the car with how much they cost!) The best of the best color combinations is the black with red piping and red leather. The Dayton wire wheels are show condition and the Vogue tires are 85%. I just had the car aligned too. The car is ready to make a long road trip and to be a daily driver if that is what you desire. The car is very user friendly!! The air conditioning is original R-12 and still nice and cold. The automatic climate control features of the climate control works perfect. The motor is all tuned up. Undercoated under the hood when new makes the motor compartment look dirty. The motor is a 4.1 liter 250 cubic inch with 170 Horse power but 235 ft. lbs. of torque. 25 mpg is a good estimate. The transmission shifts superb in every gear and is all serviced up. This Cadillac has a brand new high quality canvas convertible top and it was installed Excellent! Fits perfect and looks GREAT! The Allante has a glass rear window with defroster. The aluminum hard top has a great shine with a spotless black headliner. The hardtop cart keeps the top stored safe and out of the way. I even have a maroon cloth interior cover that attaches over the windshield and Velcro tabs hold it in place while the top is down to protect the car from sun and droppings. I have a carpet dash cover to protect the dashboard since there are NO cracks or fade on it. The floor carpet is very clean and odor free. Lloyd High end ALLANTE floor mats with the Cadillac Crest are a nice addition. The cruise control works great. The tilt wheel and telescopic steering wheel works as it should. The power windows operate as they should. The car has power locks that work great. Power seats with memory positions and even lumbar. The seats are factory Recaro seats. There are many different positions to move the seats on both sides and some selections are touchy. They work after some extra pushing of the switches as if the contacts are a bit dirty. The, "TOWER" is where all of the information is displayed. It all works properly! Even the cassette player works. The power antenna works. The power trunk close and trunk release works. The power gas door release works. The lights are all working and the timer lights work perfect. The wipers work and have intermittent that works great too. New wiper blades even though it is kept out of weather if possible. The trunk area is factory carpet done like a living room! It is clean, fresh and HUGE! It even will open up to the back of the seat compartment for additional room. The seats are comfortable and hold you in place very nice. The brake rotors, calipers and all brake hoses are new. The exhaust is factory and in great shape. The converter is present. The AC Delco battery has plenty of power. The suspension feels very nice. Tight and sporty but still has a plush Cadillac ride. The pictures were taken on 4/21/2014 and show much detail. There are many pictures but I want you to really know how nice the car is. The car runs and drives so nice!! Easy to drive, park, and to operate the top. It is not a power top but it does have power pull down that takes the effort out of the procedure. NO SURPRISES!! There are a few dings on the car in it's 26 years. It does make a few drips of oil when sitting (common). When cold the Anti Lock Brake light sometimes comes on but the brakes work fine. Some new items are a new radiator, thermostat, coolant, oil change, and transmission service. The new radiator had no coolant level sensor hold the car will notice that on the information center and tell you. I was going to mount the sensor in the coolant recovery tank but never got to it. New spark plugs, wires, cap, rotor, EGR valve, air filter, gas filter, wipers, brakes, tires, wheels, convertible top, floor mats, and more. My point is it is ready to be enjoyed by it's new owner. I have the clean Lien free title in hand ready to transfer. I have no extra fees in my auction. Some Allante Figures: Built to compete with the Mercedes SL and Jaguar XJ. $56,533 new! 21,430 made in the 7 year run. 2569 are 1988 Allante. Shipped 4,600 miles to Italy since it was designed and manufactured in Italy by Pininfarina. The car is safe in my warehouse until the new owner arrives or the shipper comes to take her home. No extra miles will be put on the car so it is EXACTLY as you see it. Uship gives good quotes on shipping so you have an idea on that part. As mentioned the car is ready for a long drive also. I'm not desperate or in need of money. I will however give you a very nice car that you will like more than your money. I'm sure what you offer will be 1/2 of my investment but I am realistic so let's make a deal. I am Mike McNamara 585-645-5009.

GM Design shows what could have been and what might be

Thu, May 27 2021

We periodically like to check in with GM Design's Instagram account to see what they're cooking up. Even better is when we catch a glimpse of an alternate history of what legendary designers from The General's past were thinking, though those ideas may not have made it into production. This week, for example, the account posted some illustrations from George Camp, whose career at GM spanned nearly four decades, from 1963 to 2001. One of the renderings is of what appears to be a 1971-72 Pontiac GTO Judge, but with two headlights instead of the production unit's quad beams. The rear departs from the canonical version most dramatically, with a massive integrated wing. Other bits that didn't make the production cut include large side vents, a gill-like side marker and rectangular intakes below the headlights that wouldn't be out of place on a modern design today. Amazingly, from what we can make out of the date, it appears that the drawing was done sometime in 1965, which makes it quite prescient.           View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by GM Design (@generalmotorsdesign) There's also a very aerodynamic interpretation of a Corvette ZR-1. To our eyes it splits the difference between the 1986 Corvette Indy concept and a fourth-generation F-body Pontiac Firebird, so perhaps parts of Camp's work on this sketch did make it into physical form. There's also a radical sports car concept from May 1970 that resembles the Mazda RX-500 concept from the same year, a Syd Mead-looking Cadillac coupe, and an Oldsmobile with a cool take on the company's trademark waterfall grille and elements of the Colonnade Cutlass at the rear. Other recent posts include a FJ Cruiser-like off-road EV, a sleek coupe with the Chevy corporate grille, and a rendering of a Silverado-esque pickup that looks far better than the current production version.           View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by GM Design (@generalmotorsdesign) It's pretty easy to lose hours in the account, but it's always fascinating to see GM's visions of what could have been and what might be. Cadillac president reveals XTS sedan refresh, flagship vehicle plans

Mon, Aug 29 2016

Update: The second paragraphed has been changed from the original text to make it clear that de Nysschen, not Autoblog , claimed the report by The Detroit Bureau is inaccurate. Cadillac has been on a tear ever since the automaker poached Johan de Nysschen from Infiniti, becoming a more profitable automaker while delving deeper into the luxury market. While some reports indicate that Cadillac may be limiting its lineup, de Nysschen just put everything out in the open. In the comment section of an article by The Detroit Bureau that claimed Cadillac would cut its lineup down, de Nysschen stated the report was inaccurate and outlined the automaker's future. The Cadillac CEO wrote "Some of what you report is correct, some incorrect, most is conjecture." A Cadillac spokesperson confirmed that de Nysschen did write the comment, but did not comment on any of the details. The Detroit Bureau's Paul Eisenstein told Autoblog that he stands behind the information in the report. In any case the most interesting tidbit in de Nysschen's comment is the major refresh for the Cadillac XTS. The news directly contradicts previous reports that indicated the XTS would be killed off by 2019. In Cadillac's pursuit to add some space between it and GM, the XTS was expected to get the axe in favor of more profitable vehicles. The sedan, which was introduced in 2012, shares its underpinnings with the latest generation of the Chevrolet Impala. To the contrary, Nysschen stated that "We ARE planning a major refresh for XTS." What the major refresh will bring the aging sedan is still a mystery, but the vehicle isn't dying. The move to keep the XTS in its lineup is a bit of a surprise as Cadillac has filled its lineup with track-oriented sports cars, rear-wheel-drive sedans, and extravagant crossovers. The boat-like XTS with its front-wheel-drive layout and available all-wheel-drive system sticks out like a sore thumb, even if it were to receive a major overhaul. The only real explanation is that Cadillac hopes the vehicle will still appeal to its old-school customers that are unwilling to compromise interior space and ride quality. In our most recent review of the XTS, we thought the luxurious sedan was a great long-distance cruiser, but not a talented sports car – no surprises there. It's unlikely that Cadillac will focus on driving pleasure with the refreshed XTS, focusing instead on pure comfort and luxury.

Comparing Cadillac's crazy classy coupes

Wed, May 6 2015

I just returned from the press launch of Cadillac's new ATS-V, a high-performance version of the US luxury marque's entry-level compact car. While ordinary ATVs offer a choice of a 202-horspower, 4-cylinder, a 272-hp turbocharged four or a 321-hp V-6, this one packs a twin-turbo V-6 that pumps out 464 thoroughbred horses and 445 pound-feet of hard-charging torque. Starting at $62,000 for the sedan and $64,000 for the sexy coupe, ATS-Vs are available with a 6-speed manual (with Active Rev Matching and no-lift shift capability) or an 8-speed automatic with steering-wheel shift paddles. They comes with GM's latest 4-mode Magnetic Ride Control, 5-mode Performance Traction Management (with launch control), competition-spec traction and stability controls, an electronic limited-slip differential, specially-tuned electric power steering, huge Brembo brakes, and added air cooling for their engine, transmission, and rear axle lubricants. They roll on 18-inch Michelin Pilot Super Sport tri-compound summer tires on 9-inch-wide front alloy wheels and 9.5-inch-wide rears. And they will rocket from rest to 60 miles per hour in less than four seconds while delivering 16 city EPA miles per gallon and 24 highway with the automatic and 17/23 with the manual transmission. The obvious purpose of all this technology is to effectively endow Cadillac's latest V-Series models with a rarely achieved true dual personality: go, stop, and corner like race cars on a track, then sooth, coddle, and entertain like luxury cars on the way to and from the track, or work. We had ample opportunity to verify both personalities with multiple hot laps of the Circuit of the Americas (COTA) Grand Prix course, followed by a more leisurely drive on public roads near Austin, TX. Even lacking wheel-to-wheel comparisons, we believe these hot new ATS-Vs are fully competitive with their pricier German competitors, and probably superior in some ways. So now, Cadillac will offer not one but two very sharp-looking, upscale, small-volume, 2016 compact coupes, almost the same size and at similar prices, but with totally different missions: this new high-performance ATS-V and the soon-to-be-upgraded ELR extended-range EV. The key question: why? Aside from its cramped back seat and ridiculous $76,000 starting price, I loved the ELR when it was introduced for 2014.
