 For Sale:

Low Mileage, 1987 Cadillac Allante Survivor. Rust Free (Florida Car) & in great shape. Solid Body, solid panels and all good glass. A few light sun-faded spots, but, easily buffed out and treated.

Interior is in FAIR condition - leather is a little dry and faded - however, all power seat components as well as controls are in order and in great shape. Digital dash, all LED displays are 100% mint - no cracking or broken displays.

Power windows, seats, and all on-board computer features work. Cruise, twilight sentinel, mirrors, etc. all in working order. Power antennae working.

Interior Work Includes: New maplight console, lower door panel on driver's side needs repair or replaced. Could use new speakers (I believe passenger side, rear is blown). Has original floor mats and carpet in good shape.

Needs PULL-DOWN motor for convertible top - I do not know this for sure, previous owner told me that when I purchased car. Also, owner told me there is ONE (1) 3" tear on driver's side of top, patchable. Rest of top is in great shape. I have not taken off the hard top since owning the car (for about a year now).

Just bought new battery - starts and runs great.

Mechanically - Needs thermostat and radiator cap as hypothesis. Runs terrific, however, appears thermostat sticks at times.

This car DID sit for a while; the prevous owner passed away, leaving it to his son. His son, essentially 'dumped' the car for cash. I purchased it from the son as a project.

Reason for selling: Living downtown, I do not have the space and ability to work on it - look at the pictures of my garage!

Please ask any questions. GREAT car for the enthusiast... I love Allante's... this is my FOURTH one!

Please e-mail with questions. Make reasonable offer.

**I'm trying to upload photos, however, the EBAY photo uploader is crashing, I'll keep trying. If you want more photos asap, please e-mail me your address via ebay messenger and I'll get it to you **

Lincoln hijacks Cadillac's 'Dare Greatly' tagline

Tue, Feb 24 2015

Talk about comedy - not even 24 hours after Cadillac teased its CT6 while inviting us to "Dare Greatly" during the Oscars telecast, Lincoln was doing the same but on Google. An anonymous tipster informed us the day after the Oscars that typing "dare greatly" into Google returned two ads before the search results. When we checked it over the course of a few hours, the first ad was always for Cadillac and either read, "Cadillac - Dare Greatly - Only those who dare drive the world forward," or, "Cadillac - Dare Greatly - It's not the critic who counts, it's the man in the arena." (On a side note, come on, Cadillac - "the man in the arena?" Well. It's a quote. Suppose that's all right, then.) The second result was for Lincoln and read, "Dare Greatly - It's not about making a statement, it's about doing what you love," with the associated URL being www.lincoln.com/dare+greatly. The first time we clicked it, it went to the Lincoln homepage showing the 2015 MKZ Hybrid. The second time, we got a page saying that the Lincoln site wasn't available; the Lincoln site was fine, the link didn't work. There's no reference to the Google joke at the Lincoln site - this was just about getting eyeballs. The English have the perfect phrase for Lincoln's provocation: "You've got some cheek!" We think it cunning, dastardly, and funny, and there's no doubt it worked - they knew people would flock to search the term. One of our competitors, Autotrader, said that within an hour of the first of four Cadillac spots airing during the Oscars, car searches for Cadillac vehicles climbed 53 percent from pre-Academy Award coverage levels. Searches for Cadillac cars were up 120%, they said. If this is Round One of our homegrown scrappy old-timers going at it, we're all for it. It's going to cost $12 billion to fix Cadillac

Wed, Apr 1 2015

The Cadillac CT6's development predates Johan de Nysschen taking over at Cadillac, but the forthcoming flagship is the luxury brand's first major new product launch since the beginning of his tenure. The vehicle's debut also marks the beginning of a comprehensive $12 billion renewal plan bringing eight new vehicles in the next five years. Now, the former Audi and Infiniti exec is talking about joining Caddy and the company's future. "Cadillac will be a powerhouse global luxury brand that will command the respect of its peers," de Nysschen said about the forecast state of the company in 2020 to Bloomberg. He disclosed that three of those new vehicles under the five-year plan would be crossovers and reiterated that plug-in hybrids are on the way that would take advantage of the Chevrolet Volt's tech advances. De Nysschen also reminisced about joining Cadillac last year. He told Bloomberg that leaving Infiniti wasn't an easy decision, and there were apparently long conversations on the phone with General Motors President Dan Ammann discussing strategy for the luxury brand. De Nysschen was apparently clear that a greater investment and more autonomy from the corporate mother ship were vital. These days, the revitalization of Cadillac is just getting rolling. The company has a swanky New York office with a dedicated team to focus on the future. According to de Nysschen, the brand will grow its staff to around 150 people by the end of the year, compared to over 40 now. The marketing plan is to position the American luxury brand as a more distinctive product versus more common German rivals. It's going to be very interesting to see if this new Caddy can dare greatly enough to accomplish these lofty goals.

Cadillac exec realizes ELR pricing was stupid high

Thu, May 14 2015

At least one Cadillac exec has finally started to come to terms with something we knew all along: the initial $75,000 price for the ELR plug-in hybrid was way too high. The bad decision in part led to the model selling just over 1,000 units last year. Company marketing boss Uwe Ellinghaus recently gave an interview to Bloomberg where he discussed what went wrong. "The MSRP was, indeed, a mouthful," Ellinghaus said to Bloomberg. "We overestimated that customers would realize our competitors were naked at that price." People balked at the ELR's price from the very start, and dealers were receiving $5,000 at one point just for getting customers to test drive the PHEV. Later, some incentives for buyers were as high as $14,000. Cadillac planners saw a conundrum when it came to the ELR's price. Too low of a figure was thought to bring the model close to the Chevrolet Volt, and $75,000 was also believed to signal Caddy's PHEV as something special. "We just wanted to make this a statement for the brand of how progressive we are," Ellinghaus said to Bloomberg. Cadillac is now working to rehabilitate the ELR's reputation with a host of updates for 2016. Buyers get a 25-percent boost in powertrain output, additional standard features, and the whole package comes with a $9,000 drop in price. The tweaks should help the luxurious PHEV make a better second impression. Related Video:
