This car runs and drives great, and is street legal. The engine is a freshly rebuilt Buick 350 with less than 100 miles on it. It has ported heads, Poston 114 cam, roller rockers, aluminum intake, blow through Holley 650 with full annular swap, aftermarket metering blocks, new baseplate with 4 corner idle, and tri-y turbo headers. It has a chrome high amp alternator, HEI distributor with vacuum advance/boost retard, an MSD CD ignition box with rev limiter, and Taylor 8mm wires. It has an Aeromotive A1000 fuel pump, Mallory boost referenced bypass regulator flowing from an RCI 16 gallon cell in the trunk. It also has the TA Performance high volume oil pump. The short block is all stock but has a big crank and a deep true y-block, making it amazingly tough. It has an aluminum radiator with an electric 2 speed fan that keeps it nice and cool.

The turbos are 50mm hybrids running through a 2 in 1 out style intercooler. It has twin 35mm wastegates and dual blow off valves to protect the cold side piping when coming off boost. It has full mandrel bent 3" exhaust on each side feeding stainless perforated tube race mufflers. The turbos are very well matched and because they are hybrids there is essentially no lag between throttling up and accelerating. With the conservative 8psi tune it runs great on 93 octane pump gas, which is all I have ever used.

The transmission is a strong TH350 that has alto reds, kolene steels, stage 2 shift kit, extra frictions, a 3800rpm 9" nitrous converter, and has a stand alone trans cooler with a 10" fan. The converter isn't too loose on the street, but hits really hard when you want it to.  The shifter is a B&M dual lockout Pro-Stick with a .44 magnum revolver cylinder handle (it holds real rounds). The driveshaft has heavy duty universals.

The rearend is a shortend 10 bolt upgraded with a Richmond 4.56 ring & pinion and zytanium locker. The back half suspension is hung from 1/8" wall 2x3" rectangular steel. It features Camaro/Nova monoleafs for excellent comfort on the street, and true & tried track performance. It has custom traction bars integrated into the spring plates. The 6 point roll bar is .135 wall 1 3/4" steel. It has Summit racing bucket seats with a driver's side RCI harness. It has a Grant woodgrain/ polished aluminum steering wheel. The aluminum dash is full of Autometer Sport Comp gauges and Innovate wideband AFR system for on the fly tuning info. The bumpers, hood, fenders and trunk lid are all VFN fiberglass. Some of the pictures have the "GSX" stickers on the rear fenders and trunk lid but I removed them and installed OEM "GS" and "Stage 2" emblem's. The core support is fabricated aluminum and drops about 25lbs off the nose. The battery is in the trunk. There isn't anything under the hood that doesn't need to be there.

It easily overpowers the huge 32x17.5" Mickey Thompson ET's going 30mph. At part throttle this car is quiet and mellow. At about 1/3 throttle the turbos start to whine and stacks up a few psi in the bonnet. At around 1/2 throttle it gets really fun. But at full throttle / full boost, this car launches straight as an arrow and with an aggressively mean roar. I took it to the drag strip once and my best run was 7.73 in the 1/8 mile. Although the exterior is solid there are a few scratches and the windshield has a crack in it. The interior is okay except for the driver's side door panel is missing and the rear seat has a couple splits.

This car is really clean and mean and it is being sold as is with no warranty. I am not interested in trading it for a Chevelle, GTO, 442, Camaro, Mustang, Cuda, Harley, etc. because I already have a new project I'm working on. That is the reason why I'm selling this one. I am extremely confident that the new owner will thoroughly enjoy this powerful muscle car as much as I have. Please feel free to email me if you have any questions. Thank your for your interest and good luck bidding!

Bring back the Bronco! Trademarks we hope are actually (someday) future car names

Tue, Mar 17 2015

Trademark filings are the tea leaves of the auto industry. Read them carefully – and interpret them correctly – and you might be previewing an automaker's future product plans. Yes, they're routinely filed to maintain the rights to an iconic name. And sometimes they're only for toys and clothing. But not always. Sometimes, the truth is right in front of us. The trademark is required because a company actually wants to use the name on a new car. With that in mind, here's a list of intriguing trademark filings we want to see go from paperwork to production reality. Trademark: Bronco Company: Ford Previous Use: The Bronco was a long-running SUV that lived from 1966-1996. It's one of America's original SUVs and was responsible for the increased popularity of the segment. Still, it's best known as O.J. Simpson's would-be getaway car. We think: The Bronco was an icon. Everyone seems to want a Wrangler-fighter – Ford used to have a good one. Enough time has passed that the O.J. police chase isn't the immediate image conjured by the Bronco anymore. Even if we're doing a wish list in no particular order, the Bronco still finds its way to the top. For now (unfortunately), it's just federal paperwork. Rumors on this one can get especially heated. The official word from a Ford spokesman is: "Companies renew trademark filings to maintain ownership and control of the mark, even if it is not currently used. Ford values the iconic Bronco name and history." Trademarks: Aviator, AV8R Company: Ford Previous Use: The Aviator was one of the shortest-run Lincolns ever, lasting for the 2003-2005 model years. It never found the sales success of the Ford Explorer, with which it shared a platform. We Think: The Aviator name no longer fits with Lincoln's naming nomenclature. Too bad, it's better than any other name Lincoln currently uses, save for its former big brother, the Navigator. Perhaps we're barking up the wrong tree, though. Ford has made several customized, aviation themed-Mustangs in the past, including one called the Mustang AV8R in 2008, which had cues from the US Air Force's F-22 Raptor fighter jet. It sold for $500,000 at auction, and the glass roof – which is reminiscent of a fighter jet cockpit – helped Ford popularize the feature. Trademark: EcoBeast Company: Ford Previous Use: None by major carmakers.

GM announces 6 recalls covering nearly 720k cars

Wed, 23 Jul 2014

General Motors has announced yet another sprawling recall campaign, with six separate elements covering 717,950 vehicles on US roads. At this point in 2014, it's starting to seem like there are more days with a GM recall than without. Perhaps most troubling about this latest volley, though, is that every vehicle is from the past few years, indicating that GM's quality woes may not be limited to pre-bankruptcy vehicles.
The largest element of this latest campaign covers 414,333 units, and includes the 2011 to 2012 Chevrolet Camaro, 2010 to 2012 Chevy Equinox, GMC Terrain and Cadillac SRX and the 2011 to 2012 Buick Regal and LaCrosse. Only vehicles with powered, height-adjustable seats are covered. In these particular cars and crossovers, the bolt that secures the height adjuster actuator may loosen of its own accord and in some cases fall out completely. If this happens, the seats will be able to move both up and down. GM claims the vehicles are safe to drive, provided drivers don't vertically adjust their seats. This particular issue has caused one crash and three injuries.

GM laying off more than 4,000 workers Monday morning

Sat, Feb 2 2019

According to reports from Automotive News, The Detroit News, and CNN, General Motors plans to begin laying off more than 4,000 salaried workers starting Monday morning. In a statement to AN, a spokesperson for the automaker said, "We are not confirming timing. Our employees are our priority. We will communicate with them first." We've been expecting layoffs at General Motors since November, 2018. At the time, the Detroit-based automaker announced it would seek to shed 8,100 salaried employees, shut down five assembly plants in North America, and kill off several slow-selling models. One month earlier, GM offered buyout packages to 18,000 workers and said it would seek to cut its global workforce by 25 percent. A spokesperson said at the time the moves were "proactive steps to get ahead of the curve by accelerating our efforts to address overall business performance." The cost-cutting moves are expected to save GM up to $2.5 billion in 2019 and as much as $6 billion by 2020. David Kudla, CEO and chief investment strategist of Mainstay Capital Management, referred to the impending culling as "Black Monday" and told The Detroit News that the layoffs would begin around 7:30 a.m. and continue in waves throughout the coming days and weeks. GM plans to deliver on its fourth-quarter and full-year 2018 earnings report on Wednesday. President Donald Trump plans to deliver the annual State of the Union address a day earlier on Tuesday. We expect to hear plenty more from both sides over the next several days.
