Hi, and thanks for the interest...Up for auction is an extremely rare 1962 Buick Skylark 2 door "postless" coupe with the 3.5 liter 215 cu in V8 ! Running and driving ! Clean Title and Bill of Sale ! All numbers matching !!! ... !!! ... with a stack of receipts and a newspaper from the seventies in the trunk. This car is bone stock and completely original. Everything that was installed on the car when it was new in 1962 is on it now....original everything from the hubcaps to the headliner to the white walled spare in the trunk.
This is a "black plate" California car...which indicates it has spent the majority of it's life, if not all of it's life in California since it was new. California is a little wetter than Nevada so you can expect a little rot here and there and some pitting and surface rust in places...but that is completely typical of a California car. The Value of this car is it's complete and untouched state. Rescuing classics and raw restorables has been a hobby of mine for as long as I can remember, and I cannot tell you how many cars I've found that are partially disassembled with parts strewn all over the back yard or carelessly thrown into bins...this is not the situation with this car. This car has never been disassembled, redone, tinkered with or disturbed. I bought the car from a Father and Son who had purchased it from the original owner to be the son's first car. Time went by, life went on and the son went to college and needed to sell the car for money for books and tuition and expenses. So, the car before me, has had only two owners in 52yrs !!! Beyond one lost hubcab and one little piece of passenger side headlight trim, nothing is missing or out of place.
The engine cranks right up without any knocks or unusual noises. The engine runs well with no overheating or strange behavior. The exhaust has a variety of holes front to back and sounds accordingly. The transmission shifts as it should through all forward gears and into reverse. The rear end doesn't whine and the car stops when you hit the brakes. Within the receipts that came with the car is the receipt to have the original carburetor recently rebuilt...although a new Edelbrock or Holley would have been less, they decided to keep it original and keep the original 4 barrel with the engine. I appreciate stuff like that when I'm looking at a car...going the extra mile to preserve the integrity of a classic, speaks volumes to me of the person making that decision.
I would not call this a daily driver at this point. The car will need minor attention such as a full fluids change front to back, a timing light hooked up and the car dialed in precisely, perhaps a new set of points and condenser or a solid state ignition upgrade, and the brakes bled and adjusted...really just basic fine tuning and preventative maintenance stuff. The engine in this car is one of the rarest engines ever produced by GM...the 215 cu in 3.5liter 195hp V8. Hailed to be decades ahead of it's time, this all aluminum lightweight and powerful V8 combined with a smaller postless coupe body and Buick amenities helped make this Motor Trend's "Car of the Year" for 1962. I would recommend taking every measure humanly possible to ease this car back into the life of a daily driver....slowly and cautiously with regard to the projected astronomical value of this car if kept in a complete state by Hagertys. These cars are projected to be of the next market highliners due to their rarity and compelling lines. This is an absolute sleeper with a super low reserve, just waiting for it's new owner. Where else can you find such a complete starting point on a 52 year old and extremely rare classic for under 3K?
The interior is worn, but completely original. All the original material is still on the seats. The headliner is the original polka dotted fabric with the tweed pinch welt. The knobs are in place, handles turn, and levers work. The heater fan operates and the switching mechanism for defrost or floor works flawlessly. The glass is exceptional and once again all original...the tiny triangular vent windows in the front have de-lamination staining and cracks and will need replacing but they are both there and easily replaced. The factory carpet is also intact to be used for patterning new carpet. Again this Skylark is so amazingly complete and untouched it is remarkable.
Good luck Everyone. Happy Bidding and I hope you enjoy the auction....winning stuff on ebay is a blast! Please have a look at the payment/shipping section....I offer a 5% discount to the winning bidder to help with after sale costs associated with getting your new toy home. I am available to talk anytime over the phone or email about the Buick...I love this car and can tell you anything you would like to know about it, so please don't hesitate to get in touch. As with any purchase, I advise and invite personal inspection...feel free to come by and have a look if you are close-by...she's a beauty.
Thanks again for the interest. I'm opening the auction at $1000, everybody enjoy the auction, have fun with it. Good Luck and Happy Bidding!!!!!

GM's Flagship Lambda Is (Still) A Smooth Operator
Consumers shopping for a domestic full-size crossover have heard all about GM's triplets. The Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia and Buick Enclave are a very appealing and talented group of siblings. Entering their fifth year of production, albeit middle-age in the automotive industry, each is attractive, well-rounded and very capable on the paved dance floor. While all share nearly identical base DNA and the same basic running gear, subtle physical differences and unique personalities emerge between the trio when one digs a bit deeper.
The most polished of the threesome, without question, is the Enclave from Buick. Fresh off a mid-cycle update (as are its siblings), the flagship of the platform boasts a facelift, innovative new features and an upgraded demeanor for the new model year.

Buick has taken the time to highlight some of the company's personal points of pride from the past 110 years. Those include everything from the automaker's very first vehicle, the 1904 Model B, to what Buick claims is the world's first concept car: The 1938 Y Job (above). That one also walked away with the worst name for a design study.
All told, the automaker has sold 43 million vehicles through the end of last year, and those include the lusty 1963 Riviera. That model celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2013, and remains one of the brand's most iconic designs.
Of course, Buick is rightfully proud of its quickest model, too. The 1987 GNX managed a 4.6-second bolt to 60 mph in tests by Car and Driver, and it also took the honor of being one of the automaker's rarest creations at just 547 units. You can check out all 10 in the gallery above.

Here at Autoblog, we love unexpected debuts at auto shows – and judging by our Detroit Auto Show comments and traffic, you do, too. Surprise reveals have been fewer and farther between in recent years with so many ways for vehicles to be teased or leak out, but this week's show has been a revelation. More to the point, it's been a series of revelations, with automakers from around the globe successfully delivering a brace of concept and production surprises. It's made our jobs a lot more exciting and challenging this week, and even though it's actually more work to react and run-and-gun when the sheet is pulled on a surprise reveal than it is to publish an already-written embargoed story, we've had more fun covering this show for you than any domestic show in memory. We hope you've enjoyed the surprises along with us. To that end, borrowing the words of an unnamed automaker PR flack, we'd like to thank the following automakers for enduring "mountain of antacids" and that "creeping sense of paranoia" necessary to keeping ones' wares totally under wraps until the sheets are pulled off the sheetmetal: Buick Avenir concept Chevrolet Bolt concept Ford GT concept Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R Ford F-150 SVT Raptor Hyundai HCD-15 Santa Cruz concept And while we're at it, we'd like to throw in an shout-out to Detroit's substantially revised and revitalized Cobo Center, and in particular, the redone Michelin media center, which is arguably the single best accommodations for writing show stories that we've encountered on the entire international circuit. Well done, everyone. Thank you, and keep the surprises coming. Auto News Detroit Auto Show Buick Chevrolet Ford Hyundai Volvo 2015 Detroit Auto Show
