1972 Buick Gs455 All #s Matching on 2040-cars
Staples, Minnesota, United States
For sale today is a 1972 Buick GS 455. According to all the records there were 1015 of these built. I believe this was the lowest production year for this model making it the rarest. The car features its original numbers matching drivetrain which is a 455 ci. V-8, Automatic Transmission and 3:08 open rear differential. Car also includes an original build sheet which was found above the gas tank. Also included is a thumb drive with several hundred pictures of all the parts and car before and after work was done and in various stages. This was a frame off restoration. The frame and entire body was stripped and sprayed with PPG DP90 before any work was done. The car was from Nevada and was in very solid condition when purchased and did run and drive. There were two soft spots the size of a golf ball behind each rear tire where the jack had been stored and set against the inside of the quarter panel since 1985 when the car was parked. these were cut out and small patches were welded in place The car is painted the original color of Burnished Copper (DuPont base coat) and PPG Deltron 2002 Clear Coat. The car was originally a white vinyl top car but I did not put the vinyl top back on, I do have all the original trim if someone wished to put one on. (holes etc. were removed-welded). Some of the factory options include: 455 ci. V-8, Ram air, Automatic Transmission, Air conditioning, Power steering, Power Brakes (front disc), In Dash Tach (replaced with new original style replacement), ralleye gauges, Factory 8-Track Player, Custom Build-up interior: Front split bench with folding armrest and 3 color side panels and lots of d'ecor and trim and lighting options (see build sheet picture). The heads have been completely rebuilt with hardened seats, new springs and valve job. The block has new main and rod bearings, new rings, timing gear and chain and water pump. The carb has been completely rebuilt and is the original carb to the car. The car has all originally equipped components except the following: New in dash tach (exact factory replacement), new wiper motor, new master cylinder and rear wheel brake cylinders and new brake pads and shoes, end links for stabilizer bar, new front door panels, new headliner and sail panels, new carpet, rocker moldings, new grill emblem and fender 455 emblems and trunk stainless trim. New factory style exhaust including tailpipes, mufflers and front pipes, battery and wiper fluid bottle and water pump. Chrome wheels are the original wheels with new lug nuts.
As the car sits right now it needs the following to be 100% complete: The finish needs some light sanding and buffing to be perfect, the ralleye gauge pod appears to have a grounding issue from what I can find out as the fuel gauge is on over full, the temp gauge and oil gauge are not responsive. The exhaust system should arrive any day and will be installed at that point, I have a new correct non-perforated headliner and sail panels but have had no luck in finding someone to install them yet. I will continue to work to finish the car but whatever is left will be taken into account when making an offer. I have spent over a year working on this car to ensure the best job possible. This is a very nice and solid investment vehicle and the few items it still needs are very minor compared to the work done on this car. For everything else I have included pictures which I hope answer many questions. Thanks for looking and reading my rambling. Buyer to deposit $500.00 non refundable to paypal account within 24 hrs of purchase. Car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end auction early. May consider partial trades as well. You will have to arrange your own transport. thank you again. I am not a car salesman but believe in total honesty and Its very hard to describe and list everything that people would want or need to know when deciding on a purchase so please ask questions if I have missed anything important. contact John at two-1-8-four-1-four-02eight0. |

1987 Buick GNX with 8.5 miles sells for ... well, you won't believe it [UPDATE]
Mon, Feb 11 2019UPDATE, FRIDAY, FEB. 15: Blowing past what was believed to be the previous sales record of $165,000, this 8.5-mile 1987 Buick GNX sold for $200,000. It jumped approximately $80,000 in the final 10 minutes. The winning bid went to username PETRO917, who joined Bring a Trailer in February, seemingly specifically to bid on the GNX. The previous story appears below. Automotive grails are expected to cost unfathomable amounts of cash, but this 8.5-mile (EIGHT!) 1987 Buick GNX could reach monetary digits not seen before. With four days still left on the Bring a Trailer auction, the GNX is already up to $100,000. The Grand National, particularly the GNX, is one of those cars that has skyrocketed in value in the past 10 years. It's been earning payouts that put it in a rare class of General Motors vehicles typically occupied by classic Corvettes and Camaros. At the Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach auction in 2015, a 362-mile example sold for a brain-scrambling $165,000, likely the most ever paid for a GNX. Last year, the first GNX ever released to the public (VIN No. 1 and 2 were kept by the company) had 8,200 miles and sold for $126,500. The most expensive GNX ever sold on Bring a Trailer had 28,000 miles and ended at $60,000 in summer 2018. Bidding on this example is already $40K past that, with days to go. To the shock and dismay of many, this ultra-rare performance icon has been driven less than the distance of a half marathon. Its odometer reading makes it possibly the most pristine GNX on the planet. After it was originally sold in Mena, Arkansas, it simply sat on display in a Texas dealership for decades. The seller purchased the car in 2002 and supposedly kept it in a climate-controlled environment. Plastic wrapping over the seats and door panels further the immaculate cleanliness. According to the listing, the only parts that have been replaced are the battery and a relay switch, both of which come with the sale. In a comment on the auction, the owner shared the reason he has decided to sell the car: Collecting is enjoyable only if you can share the collection with other people of similar mind who can also appreciate it. I am at a point in my life when the relationships, not the material possessions, mean the most to me. The time has come for someone else to own a piece of history and share it with those individuals most important in his or her life.
PSA's purchase of Opel from GM is expected to be finalized soon
Sat, Mar 4 2017PSA's purchase of the Opel/Vauxhall division from General Motors is expected to be officially announced on Monday, according to The New York Times. PSA, the parent company of European automakers Peugeot and Citroen, will reportedly hold a joint press conference with GM in Paris to announce the deal. GM has worked as part of an alliance with PSA in Europe since 2012. The deal could be a big boon for both companies. For PSA, the addition of Opel and Vauxhall into its fold would catapult the automaker into second place behind Volkswagen for European marketshare, and would allow the company to spend research and development costs across a greater number of vehicles. And GM, which has struggled in recent years to turn a profit with its European division, would be able to focus more squarely on the areas where it's most profitable and to invest in future technologies like automation. But the deal isn't without its potential pitfalls, primarily for PSA. GM hasn't been able to make a success of Opel and Vauxhall, and it's not a sure bet that PSA will, either. What's more, the addition of Opel and Vauxhall doesn't expand PSA's reach any further into new markets, like China or India. The NYT cites data from Ferdinand Dudenhoffer, a professor at the University of Duisburg-Essen in Germany, showing that 70 percent of PSA and Opel business is done in Europe, a market that has been shrinking since 1999. We'll have to wait a few days to see exactly how the deal between PSA and GM will be structured. We're also curious to see how the loss of Opel may affect GM's lineup in the States, especially for Buick, since the company's Regal sedan is based on the European Opel Insignia. In other words, stay tuned. Related Video:
GM may kill 6 car models as it works with UAW to tackle sales slump
Fri, Jul 21 2017The president of the United Auto Workers union said on Thursday the union is talking with General Motors about the potential threat to plants and jobs from slumping U.S. car sales. GM's response will be more trucks and SUVs, and sources say at least six slow-selling car models may be killed off. "We are talking to (GM) right now about the products that they currently have" at underused car plants such as Hamtramck in Michigan and Lordstown in Ohio, and whether they might be replaced with newer, more popular vehicles such as crossovers, Dennis Williams told reporters. "We are tracking it (and) we are addressing it," Williams added. GM has cut shifts at several U.S. plants this year as inventories of unsold cars have ballooned. Industry analysts said more jobs could be at risk as the automaker wrestles with permanently shrinking production of small and midsized sedans. GM is reviewing whether to cancel at least six passenger cars in the U.S. market after 2020, including the Chevrolet Volt hybrid, which could be replaced in 2022 with a new gasoline-electric crossover model, Reuters has learned from people familiar with the plans. Other GM cars at risk include the Buick LaCrosse, Cadillac CT6, Cadillac XTS, Chevrolet Impala and Chevrolet Sonic, sources said. Some analysts have singled out GM's Hamtramck plant in Detroit as one of the most vulnerable because of plummeting car sales. The plant, which opened in 1985, builds four slow-selling models: Buick LaCrosse, Chevrolet Impala, Cadillac CT6 and Chevrolet Volt. In the first half, it built fewer than 35,000 cars, down 32 percent from the same period in 2016, according to suppliers familiar with GM's U.S. production schedule. The typical GM assembly plant builds 200,000-300,000 vehicles a year.COMING ATTRACTIONS: TRUCKS AND SUVS GM must "create some innovative new products" to replace slow-selling sedans "or start closing plants," said Sam Fiorani, vice president of AutoForecast Solutions. The auto maker already has begun to shift future production plans from cars to trucks, according to Morgan Stanley auto analyst John Murphy. He estimates that fewer than 10 percent of the new vehicle models that GM will introduce over the next four years will be passenger cars, with the rest divided among trucks, SUVs and crossovers. GM plans to add production of the new Cadillac XT4 crossover next year to its Malibu sedan plant in Fairfax, Kansas.
