Unfortunately I am in a position where I have to sell my Skylark. This car was originally owned by my ex-wife's grandmother which she bought new in 1970. I bought it from her approximately four years ago. The car was driven on a regular basis until two years ago when I pulled the original Buick 350. The car now has a fresh Chevrolet small block 406. The motor has zero miles on it other than a few dyno pulls to which it hit approximately 550 hp and about the same in torque. The carb on the motor in the pictures is not included. The motor is currently just sitting in the car and has not been started since setting it in there. There is no transmission in the car, nor is one included. I do have the driveshaft. The rearend is the stock single track ten bolt. There is also no radiator included. I do have the original front bumper, it has been rechromed and just needs reinstalled. The car is extremely solid overall and still sports the original paint. These cars are getting extremely hard to find in this condition. It has always been garaged until this year when I was forced to remove it from storage. I can not stand the thought of it sitting outside through the winter. There is some rust around the front windshield and rear glass. There is also a little bit of rust in the lower front fender about the size of my fist. I will post more photos of these areas as soon as I can. The Weld wheels are included. The two front tires are brand new and the rear tires are brand new 275/60/15 Mickey Thompson ET Streets. The car also has relatively new air shocks on the rear. This car is the perfect winter project. There is over ten thousand in the motor alone, not to mention another fifteen hundred in wheels and tires. I will require a five hundred dollar non-refundable deposit within 48 hours. After that, I will release the car upon the transfer of funds. I do have the clear title in hand. Remember this, if you bid on it, then you bought it. Please ask any questions ahead of time. I will answer all questions to the best of my knowledge. The car is also being advertised locally. I am up for offers, so feel free to e-mail me. Thanks for looking.

Jay Leno finds no detail neglected on Icon's Derelict 1948 Buick Super
Wed, Apr 1 2015Jonathan Ward seems to have one of the greatest jobs in the world. As the CEO at Icon, he's in charge of not only the company's fantastic trucks but its Derelict series of semi-restored classics, as well. Ward's vehicles are no strangers to Jay Leno's Garage, but the latest guest on the show might be one of Icon's coolest yet. What looks like a 1948 Buick Super Convertible on the outside hides the supercharged heart of a Corvette ZR1 underneath. Like the rest of the Derelict series, this old Buick's toasted paint and pitted chrome are all part of the charm of the car, and it's really a case of beauty being more than skin deep. The Super rides on a custom chassis and suspension to make the convertible a far better driver than even a pristine original example. Plus, Ward hides all sorts of modern upgrades inside that are practically invisible until he points them out. Leno absolutely falls in love with driving the Derelict Buick. If his enthusiasm grabs you, the video below from Ward goes much deeper into the build process of this awesome project.
2016 Buick Cascada convertible isn't afraid of Detroit's snow
Mon, Jan 12 2015It's the great irony of introducing a convertible in Detroit – while the assembled media might look at the car and imagine warm weather and clear skies, the atmosphere outside is anything but. Such was the case Sunday as Buick rolled out the 2016 Cascada in Detroit's Eastern Market. Snow didn't dampen the atmosphere, though, as we clapped eyes on the sleek, Astra-based convertible for the first time. While this is far from the first product Buick has borrowed from General Motors' European operations, unlike previous vehicles, changes for the Cascada were kept to a minimum. There is no waterfall grille or four-way portholes, which Buick was sure to install when converting the Insignia and Mokka to the Regal and Encore. Then again, neither of these styling treatments were really necessary, as the Cascada remains a handsome and stylish offering. Its cabin is typical of other Buicks, and features a few too many buttons on the center stack. Still, a thick-rimmed, flat-bottomed steering wheel, similar to what's found in the Verano, is both attractive and functional, while the perforated leather seats looks quite comfortable, as well. Take a look at our gallery of live images, which includes shots of the Cascada with the top up and down, and then head back to our original post on the new convertible for all the mechanical details.
Buick Encore production increased to lift supply by 50%
Wed, Feb 4 2015Trying to zero in on the Buick Encore leads us to the conclusion that the only place it really fits is in buyers' driveways. Every member of its so-called competitive set – we've read everything from the Ford C-Max to the Nissan Juke to the Volkswagen Tiguan to the BMW X1 – is so different in small yet fundamental ways that the Encore neatly slinks between them all, and with 48,892 sales in 2014, it doesn't stop slinking until it reaches consumer garages. That success, and preparation for the aggrandizing of the compact CUV segment, is why General Motors is upping production for the US market by 50 percent. Analysts keep predicting there will be more shoppers for tiny crossovers, and that's why those that don't have them are getting them. Yet the Encore came out in 2013 before people realized the power of the segment, and it has substantially out-performed GM and observer expectations: analysts predicted 18,500 US sales in 2013 and 25,000 in 2015; in 2013 we wrote, "We admit it. We have no earthly idea how this whole thing is going to shake out." It shook out 31,046 sales in 2013, puffing that number up by more than 50 percent last year. GM thinks that this year it will it will go from Buick's third-best-selling vehicle to its best-selling vehicle. GM wants that to continue, what with the Honda HR-V, Jeep Renegade, and Mazda CX-3 on the way. Dealers say they'd sell more if they could get them, and the four-month lead time at the moment between a dealer ordering and taking delivery – about double the normal time – creates a handicap. Plants in Mexico, Korea, and Spain will hive off production to bolster US inventory to keep the "downsizing empty nesters" who love it, happy. Seeing as the coming competition is falls meaningfully outside the Buick's combination of traits, there's a chance its popular tale can continue.
