1967 Buick Skylark Convertible 455 V8 P/b P/s 400 Turbo Trans Gs Tribute on 2040-cars
Redding, California, United States
I am selling my friends 1967 Buick Skylark convertible. This is a regular convertible that has been given a GS treatment in the late 90's early 2000's.
Here is what my friend says about the car; 1967 Buick Skylark Convertible Pros: 455 (it’s fast) New Edelbrock carburetor Front disc brakes Front & rear sway bars New high efficiency radiator New fuel pump New starter motor Premium dual exhaust Bucket seats Floor shift Runs well Clean DMV Cons: straight body with relativly small paint damage convertible does not work (motors missing)…tear in the top near rear window (outside tear only) exhaust manifold gaskets leaking maybe needs new master cylinder…(brakes take a few mins to respond well after car warms up, but after that, just fine) gas gauge does not work window cranks and door handles are temperamental Now my take on the car; I have been a passenger in the car many times and have driven it a few times. It seems to have all the GO you would need. The car runs well and gets looks where ever you take it. No shortage of people that want to go for a ride in it. My take on the fit and finish of the car. It was painted and refreshed in the late 90's early 2000's and turned into it's current form. It was given a rebuilt 455, paint and interior. The bucket seats were sourced from a GS and all were recovered. The car was only driven for about 8 months then put into a garage for the winter and was not brought out the next year. I went and helped my friend pick up the car from his dad's house in 2012. We put a battery and some fresh fuel in it and it fired up and I drove it onto my trailer. Since then it has had the new parts replaced you see above. The paint is about a 7. It is presentable, but there are flaws. Probably the biggest is on the hood where there was a carburetor fire at one time(that is why there is a new carb! and fuel lines), but 95% of people that look at the car would not notice it. The body is solid and rust free. There are small dents and dings, but again, a very presentable 10 footer. The car spent about a week at an auto electric shop getting the wiring sorted out, but somehow the fuel gauge still does not work. I do know that the sending unit was replaced as well. Still no bueno on the fuel gauge. The interior could use a good cleaning. The white seats easily show dirt and they need to be vigorously cleaned. The chrome on the car is fair. Both the front and rear bumpers have pitting in spots and will need to be re-plated at some point in the future. The stainless trim is in excellent condition. The tires have like new tread on them. They are older, but the car has always been in a garage so there is no cracking on the sidewalls. The convertible top is also white and in need of a good cleaning. There is one small tear/rip that I don't think will be much of a problem in inclement weather as it is only the outer layer and is not very big. Most of the time you will have the top down anyway! There is also a top boot cover that is white. Again, this will need to be cleaned as it is not as white as it could be. I am not an expert on these cars, but I think that they did what was needed to make this a nice 455 GS tribute. If you have any questions please email me through eBay. Delivery to the Bay Area and Southern California shippers is available. Also, you will be paying the owner directly. I am just listing this for him. The good faith deposit will be returned when payment for the car is made. On Feb-16-14 at 19:33:40 PST, seller added the following information: I was looking up the production/vin number/codes for this car; 4 = Buick 44= Skylark V-8 67=2 door convertible coupe 7=1967 H= Flint Michigan 127532 =production number 100001 first of the model year I will get a picture of the body plate and post/decode that as well. On Feb-18-14 at 08:44:12 PST, seller added the following information:The body tag has the following; GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION / 10A / ST 67-44467FL1 39253 BODY / TR 185-A K-2 PAINT / W 2X / 4FC 5KY (COULD BE SKY) / BODY BY FISHER From what I found; ST Style is 2 door convertible Body was built in Flint MI. TR Trim is Black either Vinyl or Cloth Paint K is Aquamarine So it is a color change, but you would never know it. Any more questions let me know. This would not let me ad this like it appears in rows from top to bottom on the plate. Where ever this is a / that indicates all that is on that line of the data plate. |

Trump prods General Motors over its auto plants in China
Sat, Aug 31 2019WASHINGTON — U.S. President Donald Trump, who is engaged in a trade war with Beijing, said on Friday that the largest U.S. automaker, General Motors, should begin moving its operations back to the United States. "General Motors, which was once the Giant of Detroit, is now one of the smallest auto manufacturers there. They moved major plants to China, BEFORE I CAME INTO OFFICE. This was done despite the saving help given them by the USA. Now they should start moving back to America again?" Trump said in a post on Twitter. Trump appeared to be referring to a Bloomberg News story that reported GM's hourly workforce of 46,000 U.S. workers has fallen behind that of Fiat Chrysler as the smallest of the Detroit Three automakers. Over the past four decades, GM has dramatically cut the size of its overall U.S. workforce, which numbered nearly 620,000 in 1979. GM did not directly comment on Trump's tweet. "GMÂ’s China operations are not a threat to U.S. jobs," the company said in a fact sheet, noting that its joint ventures have sent $16 billion in equity income to GM since 2010 and that it has invested $23 billion in U.S. operations since 2009. GM's U.S. hourly workforce has fallen by about 4,000 jobs since the end of 2018 to about where it was a decade ago. Trump's ire with GM comes as contract talks with the United Auto Workers union with the Detroit Three automakers intensify ahead of a Sept. 14 deadline. Trump has previously attacked GM for building vehicles in Mexico and for ending production at plants in Michigan, Ohio and Maryland and threatened to cut GM subsidies in retaliation. GM's decision to close four plants in the United States is a central issue in the contract talks. Trump has made boosting auto jobs a key priority and has often attacked automakers on Twitter for not doing enough to boost U.S. employment. His 2020 re-election bid will hinge on holding key industrial battleground states like Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Michigan that narrowly voted for him in 2016. China is the worldÂ’s largest auto market, and government policy favors automakers assembling vehicles there, and not importing them from overseas. In response to TrumpÂ’s latest tariffs, China said last week it will reinstitute 25% tariffs on U.S.-made vehicles. The U.S. is imposing 15% tariffs on more than $125 billion in Chinese goods starting Sunday. GM sold 3.6 million vehicles in China last year accounting for 43% of its worldwide sales.
GM laying off 500 workers to slow Chevy Sonic production
Sat, Oct 24 2015Due to slow sales of the Chevrolet Sonic and Buick Verano, General Motors is cutting a shift at the Orion Township plant that builds the pair. The move lays off about 500 workers, but most of them are expected to get offers to transfer to other factories, Automotive News reports. The move came just a day after GM announced adding 1,200 employees to the Detroit-Hamtramck plant. GM has been trying all year at the Orion Township factory to align production of the Sonic and Verano with their demand. The automaker first attempted idling the plant several times and eventually resorted to laying off about 100 workers. It also reduced the production rate there. With the huge rise in popularity of crossovers, demand for the plant's small cars is on the downturn. According to Automotive News, there's currently a 116-day supply of Sonics and 100 days of Veranos to sell. Delivers tell a similar tale because the Chevy is off 35.2 percent from January to September, and the Buick does little better with a 27.2 percent drop from the same period last year. While the situation at Orion Township might look rough now, big things are on the horizon. Soon, the new Chevy Bolt electric vehicle will be built there when it hits the market around 2017. Plus, the plant will also get a $245-million upgrade and 300 new jobs for another, unannounced vehicle.
Kia Telluride vs Buick Enclave Luggage Test | What actually fits behind that third row?
Fri, Jan 10 2020So, you want to buy a three-row crossover. Before plunking down $40,000 on a new sport utility vehicle, might we dissuade you with the prospect of minivan ownership? The Pacifica Hybrid, perhaps ... no? Fine. Good thing crossovers (especially the Telluride and comparable Palisade) are so nice to drive these days. We’ll assume you want the big three-row crossover, as you intend to seat folks in all three rows. Unfortunately, raising that third row reduces the luggage area from cavernous to crawl space. ItÂ’s rather devastating from a pure numbers perspective to the two models we have today. The 2019 Buick Enclave goes from a monstrous 58 cubic-feet with the second-row in place down to 23.6 cubic-feet (which along with the nearly identical 2020 Chevrolet Traverse is still best-in-class). Meanwhile, the 2020 Kia Telluride takes a similar hit, going from 46 cubic-feet down to 21 cubic-feet. Just looking at the numbers, it would seem that the EnclaveÂ’s big advantage all but disappears with the third row up, boasting just 2.6 cubic-feet of storage more than the Telluride. But as West Coast Editor James Riswick has discovered in the numerous luggage tests he's conducted, the numbers don't always tell the whole story. Let's see how the Enclave and Telluride compare when you actually put things inside. Boom. The Enclave swallows all of the test luggage we have for it without any fuss. The distance between the back of the seats to the hatch opening is enough to fit our full-size suitcase horizontally, making it easy to stack every other bag around it. It even fits below the seatbacks, so the driver will have an uninhibited view out the rear of the vehicle. At our Michigan HQ, our test luggage consists of the following pieces: 28-inch upright suitcase, 24-inch upright suitcase, 19-inch upright suitcase, two small tote bags and one backpack. ItÂ’s likely enough luggage for a quick weekend getaway with the family, given there are no strollers involved. As we attempted to pack it all into the Telluride, weÂ’re glad we didnÂ’t have anything else. The loss of 2.6 cubic-feet of space was indeed felt much harder than what it looks like on paper. We knew we were in trouble when the 28-inch suitcase didnÂ’t fit along the floor as it did so neatly in the Enclave. We were forced to stack it up next to the rear seats, which left it sitting rather tall back there. As a result, the other suitcases didnÂ’t have a neat or convenient place to go.
