Here is a great car that is in excellent shape. It has had one recent professional repaint on a body that had NO rust or damage. The paint is slick and smooth- base coat/clear coat. The Buick spent most of it's life in a garage with a car cover on it and it shows. The interior is not faded anywhere nor are the plastic  panels brittle in any way.The list of recent improvements is as follows.....New headliner with side panels, front and rear calipers, front and rear brakes including the rubber lines and rotors,130 amp alternater, timing chain kit,oil pan gasket, oil sending unit, water pump, all hoses and drive belt, driver's window motor, power antennae, factory rebuilt digital dash, transmission has been power flushed and a tranny cooler was installed,4 wheel alignment and recent tune-up including all filters, plugs and wires. THE CYLINDER HEADS WERE RECENTLY REMOVED--LAST MONTH-- AND A THREE ANGLE VALVE JOB WAS PERFORMED AT POWER-TECH MACHINE SHOP, ONE OF THE FINEST AROUND!!!  THE HEADS WERE MILLED 20 THOUSANDTHS ,SO COMPRESSION WAS INCREASED FROM 8.5  FACTORY RATING TO 8.9 TO ONE----- THIS CAR IS REALLY POWERFULL.!!!!!!! ALL NEW SEALS AND FREEZE PLUGS.THE CYLINDER WALLS WERE WELL WITHIN SPECS, ALMOST NO WEAR AT ALL !!!!!    I noticed a small anti-freeze leak around the intake when i fired it up for the spring so off with the heads!!! --- gasket deterioration. Now it runs better than it ever has.  New front struts and rear load leveling air shocks. It has LEGAL 20% window tint all around. The man I purchased it from always used Mobile One synthetic oil in it and so have I.Now for the real goodies!!!!!!!    It has Excalibur 20" wheels with LIKE NEW Toyo Pro XES4 - tires.size 225/35zr2090w-there is 90% tread remaining on them. This combo was over 2 grand. It rides really smooth and floats down the highway at 80 MPH with no problem at all.Shifts are smooth as silk and the legendary 3800 series 1 engine is quiet and powerfull. The sound system is VERY LOUD AND CLEAR,all professional equipment purchased and installed by a local stereo shop with no corners cut and all monster cables.Panasonic cq7413u CD player with remote and IPOD compatible-it's 50 watts X 4 by itself, with  2  Alpine 6x9-3 ways are in the rear package tray 2,Alpine 6& one half -two ways are hidden in the doors. Now for the real power-----a Kicker KX 350 x 2 amp is mounted on top of a Kicker boom box housing two Kicker 12" comp subs. The box carpet matches the trunk carpet---it looks great and sounds AWESOME!!!!!!! The clarity is amazing. The sound system was over 1.500 bucks. If you don"t like the 20's,I have a complete set of aluminum factory 16" Riviera wheels that came off a '95 and all the lug nuts--NO TIRES ON THESE WHEELS.So you have a choice in wheels. That's about all I can think of although I'm sure there are things I left out about the car.EVERYTHING WORKS as it should and the air conditioning will freeze you out.   NO rattles, shakes or shimmies, air leaks nor anything else obsene. This is a wonderfull car that gets LOTS of attention everywhere I have taken it,even when you aren't shaking windows for three blocks with the stereo blasting .Gas mileage is over 32 on the highway and 26 plus in town.My reserve is well below the money tied up in the car,so bid with confidence. This would make a GREAT car for anyone.Feel free to call me @ 606-473-0320 if you have any questions,I'll be happy to answer them.My cell is 606-471-5283 but please try me at home first, I would be interested in a partial trade for a pre -1986 Celica or Supra GTS, automatic transmission only, hardtop in good condition. Not interested in convertibles. Buy something nice for yourself with that tax refund, this Riviera. It has been stored all winter and is ready for cruisin. Thanks for looking.

Car technology I'm thankful and unthankful for

Mon, Nov 27 2017

The past few years have seen a surge of tech features in new vehicles — everything from cloud-based content to semi-autonomous driving. While some of it makes the driving experience better, not all tech is useful or well thought out. Automakers who are adept at drivetrains, ride quality and in-cabin comforts often fail at infotainment interfaces and connectivity. From testing dozens of vehicles each year and in the spirit of gratitude, here are three car tech features I'm thankful — and a trio I could live without. Thanks Connected search: This seems like a no-brainer since everyone already has it on their smartphones, but not all automakers include it in the dashboard and as part of their nav systems. The best ones, such as Toyota Entune, leverage a driver's connected device to search for a range of services and don't charge a subscription or require a separate data plan for the car. I also like how systems like Chrysler Uconnect use Yelp or other apps to find everything from coffee to gas stations and allow searching via voice recognition. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto: It took two of the largest tech companies to get in-dash infotainment right. While they have their disadvantages (you're forced to use Apple Maps with CarPlay, for example), the two smartphone-integration platforms make it easier and safer to use their respective native apps for phoning, messaging, music and more behind the wheel by transferring a familiar UI to the dashboard — with no subscription required. Heated seats and steering wheels: I really appreciate these simple but pleasant features come wintertime. It's easy to get spoiled by bun-warmers on frosty mornings and using a heated steering wheel to warm the cold hands. I recently tested a 2018 Mercedes-Benz E400 Coupe that also had heated armrest that added to a cozy luxury experience. Bonus points for brands like Buick that allow setting seat heaters to turn on when the engine is remotely started. No thanks Automaker infotainment systems: Automakers have probably poured millions into creating their own infotainment systems, with the result largely being frustration on the part of most car owners. And Apple CarPlay and Android Auto coming along to make them obsolete. While some automaker systems, such as Toyota Entune and FCA's Uconnect, are easy and intuitive to use, it seems that high-end systems (I'm looking at you BMW iDrive and Mercedes-Benz COMAND) are the most difficult.

7 major automakers to build open EV charging network

Wed, Jul 26 2023

A new joint venture established by BMW, GM, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes-Benz and Stellantis will build a new North American electric vehicle charging network on a scale designed to compete with Tesla's industry-benchmark Supercharger network. The 30,000-plus planned new chargers will accommodate both Tesla's almost-standard North American Charging System (NACS) and existing automakers' Combined Charging System (CCS) options, effectively guaranteeing compatibility with the vast majority of current and upcoming electric models — whether they're from one of the involved automakers or not.  "With the generational investments in public charging being implemented on the Federal and State level, the joint venture will leverage public and private funds to accelerate the installation of high-powered charging for customers. The new charging stations will be accessible to all battery-powered electric vehicles from any automaker using Combined Charging System (CCS) or North American Charging Standard (NACS) and are expected to meet or exceed the spirit and requirements of the U.S. National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) program." Critically, the automakers involved will have a say in how the charging tech is implemented, guaranteeing that the hardware will play nicely with each automaker's in-house charging systems. Hyundai and Kia, for example, were hesitant to jump on board the Tesla NACS bandwagon earlier this year over concerns that the Supercharger network is insufficient for powering the two automakers' 800-volt charging systems; similar tech is used by Volkswagen and Porsche.  In addition to providing much-needed capacity and high-output charging for America's growing fleet of electric cars and trucks, the new network will integrate seamlessly with each automaker's in-app and in-vehicle features, rather than forcing customers to use third-party tools and payment systems, as is the case with some existing public charging infrastructure.  "The functions and services of the network will allow for seamless integration with participating automakersÂ’ in-vehicle and in-app experiences, including reservations, intelligent route planning and navigation, payment applications, transparent energy management and more. In addition, the network will leverage Plug & Charge technology to further enhance the customer experience," the announcement said.

Here are all the cars GM is axing as part of its restructuring

Tue, Nov 27 2018

GM plans to kill off a couple of great and a few meh cars as part of its restructuring. Here's a rundown of all the cars being phased out of production. None of the vehicles GM axed were SUVs or crossovers. Instead, it was an action reminiscent of what Ford recently decided to do by discontinuing U.S. sales every Blue Oval sedan. GM just didn't explicitly say, "We're killing our cars," like Ford did — probably a smart move by GM. Keep scrolling down to see the full list of deceased GM models. Chevrolet Volt This one was the most surprising of all the cars GM decided to can, primarily because cars with plugs are supposed to be our future. However, maybe consumer demand just isn't quite there yet for a plug-in like the Volt. We came up with all sorts of ideas for what was to blame for the untimely demise of the Volt, so go check that out for a full breakdown of the situation. Cadillac CT6 Here's another car we'll be sad to see go. Cadillac's flagship sedan was such a joy to drive, and it served as the conduit to deliver GM's semi-autonomous Super Cruise system, which still hasn't been surpassed by any other company's technology in our books, even Tesla's Autopilot. That being said, GM does plan to produce the CT6 until March, with the last cars coming off the line set to be twin-turbo V8 V-Series models. If it's going to go, this seems like a pretty great way to make an exit. We'll be patiently awaiting the next flagship Cadillac once this one finally fades away. Chevrolet Impala The Impala is actually a pretty good car. It doesn't sell terribly, and we think it's a completely satisfactory car to drive. However, people would rather have a Traverse or Equinox these days, making the Impala one of the vehicles to find itself on this list. Chevrolet is keeping its smaller brother, the Malibu, but a big, full-size sedan just isn't what people are ordering up these days. It's unfortunate to see it go, but we won't be broken up over it. Chevrolet Cruze We wouldn't rank the Cruze at the top of the compact car class, but if you were looking for a small, cheap American car, it was either this or the Focus. The Cruze had the potential to be a true small performance car if Chevy had ever wanted to make it into one. But sadly, we're seeing it bow out before Chevy ever tried to slot a hot engine and suspension in there to make it competitive with other hot hatches. A Cruze SS would have made enthusiasts take notice.
