1971 Buick Riviera Gs Gran Sport Loaded With Options, Never Rusted. on 2040-cars
Woodside, New York, United States
1971 Buick Riviera GS Factory Gran Sport - First year of the beautifully redesigned and sensational 1971 model year Riviera, featuring the dramatic, flowing boat-tail styling with sweeping, sculpted sides, coupled with the very desirable GS Gran Sport option, makes this very low production dream car a very rare automobile. The GS option includes the Big Block 455 ci V-8 matching-numbers 7.5 L engine linked to the rugged, specially calibrated Turbohydramatic 400 three-speed transmission, topped with the exclusive GS chrome air cleaner. GS features include automatic floor gear shifter mounted on a center console that is canted towards the driver for ease of operation, and heavy duty springs, shocks and stabilizer bars. I am not the original owner to verify any mileage, the odometer reads 10425. This GS is not at all tired and is very fast and responsive. The distinctive V-butted rear window and the spine running down the full length of the car, through the roofline and down through the boat tail were design cues inspired by the 1963 Corvette Sting Ray split window coupe. Other distinctive features on the 1971 Buick Riviera are the dual deck lid slotted ventilation system louvres on the trunk lid, only available in 1971, Buick's Mack trac traction control system (prevents wheelspin during acceleration on slippery surfaces), and numerous GS standard features making this Gran Sport fully loaded, including Factory A/C, Power Steering, Power Front Disc Brakes, Power Windows, Power Seat, Dual Exhaust, Safety Speed Alarm, Tilt Steering Wheel, AM/FM Radio, Buick Chrome Mag Wheels including the spare in the trunk, original jack, factory body-side moulding, trunk light, owners manual etc. Always garaged, this GS is strong and solid (no body filler) including the undercarriage, floors and trunk. This particular GS spent its entire life in the dry NM climate until 2002 when it was shipped here to NY and garaged and cared for ever since. Chrome is gorgeous including the rear bumper which is seldom seen free of dings or damage. The GS drives and shifts beautifully and always garners much attention and many compliments whenever it is seen. A Top-of-the-line classic; a motion-sculpted work of art from any angle viewed. Gorgeous unexcelled Bill Mitchell concept car design. Low starting bid. Please bid with confidence. This is rare opportunity to own this very low production GS model. No reserve auction. For any further detailed information, please call (718) 486-3271. NY Thank you. |

How to hack a Buick Regal with CarKnow
Thu, 08 Aug 2013If you own an Apple iPhone or Android device, perhaps you've been tempted to jailbreak or root it. This process gives you access to the the software's code, and can be used to make minor or drastic changes to its operating system. CarKnow, a company in Boston, is working applying a similar concept to the automobile.
Translogic recently took a look inside CarKnow to see just how it can tweak the computers inside a car and what sort of things can be done. As our transportation tech sister site explains, CarKnow basically created a digital duplicate of their Buick Regal in the cloud, while harvesting data generated to create custom apps and infiltrate the deepest function of their test car.
And before you freak out about people maliciously taking over your car, CarKnow's founder, Josh Siegel, stresses that it isn't quite so easy as driving up alongside someone. Take a look at the full video below to see just what it's like to jailbreak a car.
No, Cadillac is not killing its flagship CT6 sedan
Sat, Jul 22 2017Mark Twain never actually said that reports of his death had been greatly exaggerated. But if the Cadillac CT6 could talk, those are the exact words it would use. Speaking to Jalopnik, Cadillac chief Johan de Nysschen confirmed, emphatically, "There is absolutely no plan, at all, to cancel the CT6." In fact, says de Nysschen, the CT6 will soon be the beneficiary of significant investment. "The [CT6] forms a very important part of our product strategy going forward for the brand. The car also has a very major contribution to make to the shaping of brand perceptions, and the transformational process that Cadillac is undergoing." For instance, expect the CT6 to spearhead General Motors' most advanced forays into self-driving automobile technology. Interestingly, though, the Cadillac ATS and CTS sedans probably won't live past their current generations as the automaker 're-balances its sedan portfolio.' Replacement models are "in development" right now, says de Nysschen, which will "much more clearly separate the market position, both in terms of target customer demographics, in terms of market segments and in terms of price points between these three sedan lineups." So, that's confirmation that the Cadillac CT6 is going to stick around for a while. But what of other models cited by Reuters to potentially be killed, like the Buick LaCrosse and Chevy Impala and Volt? Read our take on that here, but suffice it to say that we don't think they're in danger, either. Jay Leno finds no detail neglected on Icon's Derelict 1948 Buick Super
Wed, Apr 1 2015Jonathan Ward seems to have one of the greatest jobs in the world. As the CEO at Icon, he's in charge of not only the company's fantastic trucks but its Derelict series of semi-restored classics, as well. Ward's vehicles are no strangers to Jay Leno's Garage, but the latest guest on the show might be one of Icon's coolest yet. What looks like a 1948 Buick Super Convertible on the outside hides the supercharged heart of a Corvette ZR1 underneath. Like the rest of the Derelict series, this old Buick's toasted paint and pitted chrome are all part of the charm of the car, and it's really a case of beauty being more than skin deep. The Super rides on a custom chassis and suspension to make the convertible a far better driver than even a pristine original example. Plus, Ward hides all sorts of modern upgrades inside that are practically invisible until he points them out. Leno absolutely falls in love with driving the Derelict Buick. If his enthusiasm grabs you, the video below from Ward goes much deeper into the build process of this awesome project.
