1971 Buick Riviera Base Hardtop 2-door 455 V8 on 2040-cars
Gresham, Oregon, United States
1971 Third Generation (1971-1973) "Boat Tail" Riviera 1971 was the first model year of the dramatically redesigned third generation Riviera model. The "Boat Tail" design was inspired by the 1963 Corvette Sting Ray split window coupe. The 1971 Riviera model featured a unique louvered trunk design ("Full-Flo" ventilation system) that was not available on later models. The 455 CID V8 Engine was rated at 335 HP while the car has impressive performance despite it's size and weight. Great driving car for long distance car show enthusiasts. This is a fantastic example of a true survivor car. I purchased this car 2 years ago from it's original owner.Replace the heater core & carpet with a kit, flushed all fluids and replace all filters, transmission fluid and filter, spark plugs, wires, rotor, cap, air filter. The interior is amazingly clean and it still has the original factory installed 8-track radio.Everything works all power windows, horn, key buzzer, int courtesy lights, trunk light, No cracks on the dash or rips on the headliner.very nice vynol top.The car is stock and runs and drives like a new car. The engine is the factory 315hp 455 ci V8. 43,825 original miles I was told. It has a small exhaust leak coming from the right manifold, maybe a doughnut or gasket. The AC system worked a few years ago but needs to be charged now. The interior is a 9.5 out of 10 and the factory paint is a 7 in my opinion.Drivers bottom seat has a split in the seam, rear bumper on passenger side has a little blemish/dent,In front of passenger rear tire theres some bobbling at the bottom. It is very solid and rust free and I showed the car at local shows last summer, but the paint is not perfect. Glass, chrome and rubber are very nice and the pictures don't lie. |

Buick GN and GNX will return
Question of the Day: Best recipient for supercharged GM V6?
Wed, Apr 20 2016The good old Buick V6 engine was built from 1961 through 2008 (including a decade of production by Kaiser-Jeep) and went into way too many General Motors vehicles to list here. In 1991, the supercharged version of the 3800 was introduced, with a Roots-style Eaton blower on top, and now you can find these engines in just about every junkyard in North America. The 3800 shares a bellhousing pattern with the also-made-by-the-zillions GM 60° V6 engine, which means that it will install (with varying levels of sledgehammer clearancing and/or axle mix-and-matching) into plenty of GM vehicles that never received the 3800 from the factory. That means one thing: engine swaps! An excellent example of this is the 1992 Chevrolet Lumina APV "Dustbuster" minivan, which is a fully caged high-performance road-racing machine that features a supercharged 3800 and 5-speed manual transmission under its long, vacuum-cleaner-snout-like hood. The RaceVan, in Springfield Monorail livery, will compete this weekend at the Michigan 24 Hours of LeMons race with Autobloggers Mike Austin, David Gluckman, and Alex Kierstein at the wheel. My personal choice for supercharged 3800 power, though, has to be the Cadillac Cimarron, preferably the not-so-sought-after Cimarron d'Oro Edition. Some bashing and welding and cutting and pasting and this lightweight Cavalier sibling could have well over double its original horsepower. So, what's your blown 3800 engine-swap choice?
