1965 BUICK RIVIERA WITH BUICK DUAL QUAD INTAKE & CARBS. EXCELLENT CAR TO CLONE A GRAN SPORT. THE 4 CORRECT (NEW) EMBLEMS & NEWLY CHROMED DUAL QUAD AIR CLEANER CAN BE INCLUDED WITH THE SALE FOR AN AGREED ADDITIONAL PRICE.

This is a turn key car. Get in & drive anywhere. It had been repainted in 2002. Intake & rebuilt carbs were installed in 2012. I purchased it last year to clone a Gran Sport. But I have since lost my job & have too many other cars that need my attention. So unfortunately I have to sell this one.

The body is straight & very solid. Paint is in excellent condition. But has a scratch on the the right fender (see photo). Also a small brush touch up spot on the deck lid (see photo).
All of the chrome & moldings are very nice driver quality. No rust or pitting on the bumpers.
Floor boards & frame are solid!

The engine runs very strong & is very responsive. I was told that the transmission was rebuilt (with a mild shift kit) in 2012 when the dual quads were put on the car.  This car has a lot of power!! It does have a minor oil seepage from the back of the pan gasket. Also a minor power steering leak from the pressure line.
The odometer shows 30850. Which considering the condition & way it runs it very well could be correct. But there is no documentation to back that up. So figure on 130850.

The original seats are very nice but starting to show their age. Dash, door & rear side panels are nice. Carpet is getting dull & has a small hole on the drive side front. It could use replacing. Headliner had been replaced but it is not the original style. Wood grain on the console is showing it's age. Right rear power window is very slow.

Last but not least. The headlamp motor was working but very, very slow. One of the wires to the relay has broken off. So it will need to be rebuilt.

This is a great car! I truly hate to sell it. I planned on making a GS tribute car. I even bought an air cleaner & had it re-chromed. But I now need the money so all reasonable offers will be considered.

I'm happy to answer any questions. Serious buyers only please! No low ballers!! I know what these cars are selling for & what they are worth. I sold my 65 Gran Sport last August for $50k.

Movie Review: Black Air: The Buick Grand National Documentary

Thu, 06 Dec 2012

As Buick currently claws and scratches its way back into relevance to compete against luxury brands like Lexus and Acura, it's hard to believe that not too long ago, the brand had a car that was mentioned in the same breath as Corvette, Lamborghini and Ferrari. That car? None other than the Buick Grand National. All black with a turbocharged V6 and some of the quickest acceleration of its time, the Grand National, in today's standards, is along the lines of a 2013 Shelby GT500 with both cars essentially being a working man's supercar.
The last Grand National rolled off the assembly line in Flint, MI on December 11, 1987, and to mark the silver anniversary of that somber occasion, Black Air is a documentary of the Grand National from the perspective of the enthusiast, the collector, the media and even from those at General Motors responsible for creating such a sinister legend. Like the car itself, Andrew Filippone Jr. shoots the documentary in a raw fashion, and it definitely helps to show why a low-volume muscle car from the 1980s is still the object of obsession for many automotive enthusiasts to this day.

GM follows Ford and Honda in skipping SEMA

Fri, May 20 2022

The list of automakers skipping SEMA has become longer. First reported by Muscle Cars and Trucks, and confirmed to us by a company representative, General Motors will not have an official presence at the aftermarket show. It joins Ford and Honda in leaving the show. It will be a large hole in the show, with the GM brands typically filling a significant swath of available show space in one of the main halls. GM hasn't provided much explanation for the move, either. The GM representative provided Autoblog with the same statement that Muscle Cars and Trucks got: "GM has made the decision not to participate in the 2022 SEMA Show. The SEMA show has always inspired us, and accessories and performance parts remain an important part of our business." We also asked if we would see any sort of announcements around the time of the show — Ford said it has plans to share some things around that time — however, the GM representative said that the company has no immediate plans for announcements. Certainly things could change between now and the November show, though. SEMA had previously noted that other exhibitors would help fill in some of the space vacated by these major OEMs. Another OEM, Volkswagen, is returning to the show after an absence, which will also help with the display deficit. This 1988 Buick LeSabre Estate Wagon looks like a boxy, wood-sided bargain

Fri, May 8 2020

The growing interest in 1980s cars has meant that General Motors' full-size B-body station wagons of the era are now attracting the interest of collectors as well as iconoclasts seeking an SUV alternative. This 1988 Buick LeSabre Estate Wagon for sale right now on eBay Motors, looks to be a tempting example of the genre. It has covered just 72,000 miles and is described as a "rust-free southern car." The A/C is said to be cold, and it's equipped with power windows, a split-bench front seat and a rear-facing third seat. Whereas the Electra was the wagon for the finest estates, the LeSabre presumably was for those that were one rung down, so it has a slightly more downmarket maroon cloth interior where the Electra would have velour. Yet this LeSabre Estate Wagon is still slathered in a full complement of woodgrain siding, and this car sports a factory set of wire wheel covers. We're told the 5.0-liter V8 sound great, while the paint is said to be "a little tired" and one headlight looks like it needs to be replaced. The "Buy It Now" price is $8,500, and the seller is also inviting offers. Plus, 1% of the sales price benefits St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, so there's a feel-good factor. For comparison, this wagon's Oldsmobile twin currently being auctioned on Bring a Trailer already has been bid past $8,900 for four days still to go in the auction. This '83 Custom Cruiser has 74,000 miles and looks maybe a little spiffier, but not a lot more so. The seller of this Oldsmobile includes a video in his listing, and in it he appears to be not wearing pants. Sometimes it's all about presentation. Related Video:
