For sale is my 1987 Buick Regal Turbo Limited - one of 1035 produced. I've owned this car for six years driving it little more than eight hundred miles during my time as care taker. I fell in love with the turbo whine after a visit to Bowling Green in 1999 and vowed I'd have "one of those" one day. I couldn't have been happier with what I purchased being a Limited versus the GN. Just a personal preference, in my 40's an armrest beats a bucket seat every day and twice on Sundays!
While I've had the car there were only two things that needed addressing: I had the headliner replaced by a fantastic classic car upholstery shop that I use regularly. The braking system was upgraded from the original Power Master system. All the components of the original system are included with the car. I also put new tires on the car as the BFG Comp TA's the car had were dry rotted.
I have accumulated a number of NOS items that go with the sale of the car: 4 - NOS 3.8 Turbo emblems, NOS door to window fuzzies, BUICK grille emblem and a number of other items. Also included is a GN dash cluster if you choose to convert the car to gauges from it's too late lights :) There have been no chips added to the car to my knowledge - it is as I received it quite original and unmolested.
Interior: 60/40 split power bench seat with a fold down arm rest. Buckets look cool and are for about 10 minutes but let's face it nothing beats a little Detroit lean to the right. The interior is in overall GREAT condition there is minimal sun fading on the tops of the door panels and in the package tray area. The carpet is original, thick and lush - it is in great condition. Original floor mats in good condition, seats in very good condition sans the notation for a couple cigarette burns. On the front passenger side above the glove box the Buick Limited panel lights up well at night - a very sweet touch from our friends at Buick.
Exterior: The car was repainted at some point in it's life. The paint work is presentable but it is more of a 15 footer. There is a repaired crack in the header and a small indentation on the corner of the hood - at the time of a repaint it could easily be repaired. The fenders, quarters and trunk are great. The doors have some ripples in them from door dings or something (I cannot say - it came that way). Also the car came with body side moldings attached to it. I removed them during a buffing out of the paint and regret that decision. The glue that was used to put them on was clearly developed by NASA for some wicked application. I've tried everything I can think of to remove the glue (looks white on the car) and figured either I would put body moldings back on or would eventually have the doors smoothed out and the car resprayed. Every time I do a restore though it's overkill and then I park the car. I wanted a great turn key Buick and this car is exactly that. I have most all the glove box documentation and I have the title from the previous owner showing the low miles on the car as well. This car is in great overall condition a few years ago a friend of mine put it up on a lift and the bottom of the car is solid and there is no visible rust on the car..It was rustproofed when new and has sat in a climate controlled garage on carpeting most of its life. It's not pristine but could be with paint and polishing. Bumpers are solid and both straight. There are tiny little surface rust dots on the bumper top I will take some chrome cleaner to it and they should clean up fine but not show chrome.
Being as original as it is if the car is quickly turned into a daily driver or long distance cruiser I would personally recommend going thru belts, hoses, indicators etc. Most if not all of these items are 26 year old originals. Even the coil pack is original and has the original date coded sticker on it. Also, blower works but a/c does not blow cold I prefer open windows whenever I would take it out anyway so not working fully wasn't a concern to me. Lights, horn etc all work.

2018 Buick LaCrosse gets a mild hybrid model, lower price
Mon, Jun 5 2017Update: Buick provided us with horsepower and fuel economy figures. The text has been updated to reflect this. Buick is rolling out a variety of updates for the 2018 LaCrosse, including a new mild eAssist hybrid. Like the previous generation LaCrosse and Regal eAssist models, this one features a small electric motor and an equally small battery pack that together augment rather than supplant the gasoline engine. The motor, attached to a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, helps to make takeoffs smoother and provide additional torque on demand. The gasoline engine still does the majority of the work, though. Combined, the powertrain produces 194 horsepower and 187 pound-feet of torque. It will also allow the LaCrosse to get 25 mpg in the city, and 35 mpg on the highway. While the electric powertrain doesn't provide primary propulsion, it does come with other benefits. The small battery means the LaCrosse maintains a folding rear seat. The battery also provides power to accessories when the engine shuts off at a standstill. This mild hybrid powertrain will be the standard engine for all 2018 LaCrosses, and they come with a lower base price. The 2018 model will start at $31,415, which is about $1,500 less than the lowest priced 2017 V6 LaCrosse. The V6 will still be available as an option, and Buick has updated it, too. The 2018 V6 models will also all come with a new 9-speed automatic transmission. The new LaCrosses will go on sale this fall. Related Video: Image Credit: Buick Green Buick Hybrid Luxury Sedan
GM issues stop-sale for 3 SUVs over incorrect MPG rating
Fri, May 13 2016This week, GM sent a memo to Chevy, GMC, and Buick dealers to tell them to stop selling three SUVS. The 2016 Chevy Traverse, the GMC Acadia, and the Buick Enclave all have EPA window stickers that show higher fuel economy ratings than the vehicles actually have. Unlike other recent – and very public – fuel economy ratings problems from VW and Mitsubishi, it doesn't seem like GM did anything wrong with the testing for these vehicles, it just misprinted the labels. New labels are being printed and should arrive at dealerships this weekend and early next week. After that, the SUVs will be able to be sold and delivered again. The official fuel economy rating for the three SUVs are all the same. The correct numbers for the all-wheel drive versions are 17 miles per gallon combined, 15 city, and 22 highway. The stickers say the SUVs get 17/24/19. The front-wheel driver models were also incorrectly labeled, and the total number of affected vehicles is 59,823. In the memo, GM said the problem was caused by an "inadvertent error," Automotive News says. GM is working with the EPA to solve the issue. We have asked GM for a comment on the mistake and will update this post if we hear back. Related Gallery 2013 GMC Acadia View 16 Photos News Source: Automotive News – sub. req. Why Buick's future lies in China
Mon, Apr 10 2017Back in the last half of 2008 and into 2009, when General Motors was looking at too much capacity for too few customers, when it was running out of money and needing to go to the governments of the US and Canada and to the UAW for financial support, its management team was pretty much instructed by the feds to focus resources on what would create the best likelihood for a return on the investments and guarantees that it was getting. Things needed to be cut, and not just the corporate air fleet. This led to the elimination of Saturn, Hummer and Pontiac and the sale of Saab to Spyker. What remained of GM's North American brand portfolio was Chevrolet, Buick, Cadillac, and GMC. (Oldsmobile had been shuttered in 2004.) There were a variety of opinions regarding which brands GM should keep/lose during the midst of the Great Recession. Some thought GMC should be axed, but then it was pointed out that GMC essentially produced high-content Chevys, which resulted in fantastic transaction costs. Lots of money in the back of those pickups. Others thought Buick should be eliminated. The rationale was: Chevy was the mass-market brand, Cadillac was the luxury brand, and GMC helped leverage the company's investment in trucks. (Yes, even back then the F-Series was winning the pickup sales race, so it was always a matter of adding Silverado and Sierra sales to show that GM was solidly in the game.) So what was Buick? Better than Chevy but not as good as a Cadillac? Somehow that doesn't seem to be a particularly aspirational position to hold. But Buick's identity didn't need to be worked out in 2008-09 because there was a single compelling reason to keep it: China. According to official GM history, Pu Yi, the last emperor of China, Dr. Sun Yat-sen, the first provisional president of China, and Zhou Enlai, a Chinese premier, "Either owned, drove or were driven in Buick automobiles." What's more: "According to statistics from the Shanghai government, in 1930 one out of every six cars on the city's roads was a Buick." Which is to say that Buick got to China early and has a major presence in that market. When the Regal Sportback and Regal TourX were being unveiled at the GM Design Dome the first week of April, Duncan Aldred, vice president of Global Buick, gave a briefing of Buick's place on the automotive landscape.
