1987 Buick Regal Limited T-type Turbo (grand National) 100% Original! on 2040-cars

Year:1987 Mileage:63645 Color: is all original and in good condition
Location:

I custom ordered this car from Buick in February of 1987 and received it in May of 1987, it went down the assembly line right in front of the GNXs. I intentionally ordered a sleeper because I didn’t like the orange 6s they put on the GNs.  I have the service records and the original window sticker.

This car has always been garaged and never driven in the winter.  There is no rust on this car and never has been.  It was undercoated by Ziebart one day after picking it up from the dealer. It has never been damaged or crashed and I will provide the clean CarFax report.

The engine, transmission, drive-line and turbo are all original and in perfect working order.  The car has been adult driven by an engineer.

The interior is in great condition. The seats are comfortable, and don’t sag or show wear. The headliner is beginning to come loose.

The exterior is all original and in good condition. The color is Dark Charcoal Grey with a factory installed red pinstripe. The paint has the typical age spots of that period. The flexible bumper covers in the front were complete and intact 2 years ago but have cracked and broken (sitting still while inside which surprised me).  The rear bumper cover is still intact with no damage or cracks but the paint has dulled with time.  The paint has the typical scratches and chips of a daily driver that can be touched up easily.  The surface finish is still smooth and shiny outside of chips.  The driver’s door rocker panel is galvanized from the factory and the paint has flaked off the top edge – there is NO rust or corrosion on that area.  That is a known problem with galvanized panels.  If you want to retouch it, you must chromate the zinc layer and then the paint will stick fine.

I am selling it because my father needs the space in his barn and I don’t have a garage to store it properly.

Buick made over 20,000 Grand Nationals in ’87 - This car is one of only 1000 Limited T-types made in 1987 and is unique in having blacked out trim instead of chrome.

This is NOT the car to give to an inexperienced driver – it must be driven with respect and skill.

I strongly urge the buyer to ask for any additional photos or documentation and I will be glad to provide it.  I will accept cash or check - you will wait until the funds are in my account before picking it up. I will not ship the car, I may consider delivering it within 100 miles of Greer SC otherwise the buyer will be responsible for picking up the car in  Greer, South Carolina.

2013 Buick Verano Turbo

Thu, 03 Jan 2013

Not Luxury. Not Sport. Not Buick. Not Bad.
Those of you who still think of the Buick Verano as some sort of callously badge-engineered, gussied up version of the Chevrolet Cruze ("Why would anyone spend that much money on Buick's Cruze?" you may have been heard to mutter) have got the wrong idea. Entirely. Even in its most modest form, the Verano turns out to be a sedan that is feature-rich, insulated from wind and road noise in proper luxury car fashion, pretty good to drive and not bad to look at in the new school of high-nosed pedestrian-impact-regulated fashion. In a less modest form then, one that attaches the word "Turbo" to the moniker and plops a force-fed 2.0-liter four-cylinder under the hood, the Verano is downright interesting.
Of course, "interesting" is rarely a descriptor that fills one with lust - and so it goes with this example. There are two competing forces within this near-premium subcompact sedan, and the balance struck between them must resonate with any potential customer before the Verano Turbo can become a serious purchase consideration.

BMW tops Consumer Reports 2023 Brand Report Card

Thu, Feb 16 2023

Feels like we wrote about Consumer Reports' 2022 Brand Report Car and 10 Top Picks a few weeks ago, but it was last April. So the mag is back with a ranked roster of 32 brands and 10 vehicles in four categories for your debating pleasure. Starting with the brands, last year's top three were Subaru, Mazda and BMW. This year, the Munich crew climbed two spots to win the prize thanks to "Superb road test scores and solid results in CR’s reliability and owner satisfaction surveys." Subaru narrowly fell to second, maintaining its four-year run in the top three. Mini, eighth last year, jumped five spots to get the last step on the podium. The rest of the top 10 were Lexus (up one spot from last year), Honda (down one spot from last year), Toyota (up three), Genesis (up 12), Mazda (down six), Audi (down three) and Kia (up eight). The magazine and testing outfit says its Brand Report Card "[reveals] which automakers are producing the most well-performing, safe, and reliable vehicles based on CRÂ’s independent testing and member surveys," and that "Brands that rise to the top tend to have the most consistent performance across their model lineups." Last year's top 10 had six automakers from Japan, three from Germany (giving Mini credit for England), none from the U.S. or South Korea, and five luxury brands. This year's list counts five makes from Japan, two from Germany because Porsche fell out of the top ten, two from South Korea, still none from the U.S., and four luxury brands. Buick again ranked as the best domestic, dropping to 12th after being 11th last year. The big mover was Lincoln, its 10-place jump up to 16th attributed to better reliability from the Corsair and Nautilus. Tesla's improved overall reliability saw it climb six spots to 17th. Dodge climbed one spot to 15th. Jeep got out of the penalty box in last to come second-to-last. Land Rover fell three places into the penalty spot.  CR's top 10 vehicle models The 10 Top Picks list is practically a new list. Only two holdovers made it to 2023, those being the Subaru Forester and Kia Telluride.

Hyundai, Buick dealer apologize in wake of Chinese baby social media incident

Sat, 09 Mar 2013

A very strange story out of China today, as Hyundai and a Chinese Buick dealer were forced to face allegations of using allusions to an infamous child murder on a social media site as a way of promoting the safety features of their respective vehicles.
The original sad tale goes something like this: On March 4, a man reported to police that he had left his infant child in a running Toyota RAV4 while he ran into a supermarket briefly. When he came back out, the vehicle and the child were gone. Later in the week a suspect turned himself in to the police; confessing to them that he had stolen a sport-utility vehicle, strangled the infant that was in it, and then buried the child in the snow.
As you might imagine, the gristly incident was covered massively in the Chinese media. (There was huge public outcry as well, as evidenced by the vigil scene, above.) "Changchun baby abduction" was very quickly amongst the highest ranking search teams of the China's Weibo social media site - an equivalent of Twitter in the English-speaking world.
