For your consideration, a beautiful 1989 Buick Reatta which had limited production and was hand built in Lansing, MI.  This sporty, little car some say looks like a Ferrari, is fast and comfortable.  It has a 3.8L  and front wheel drive--a real head turner.  The Reatta is a two seater with ample trunk and storage space.  It has a rebuilt, working touch screen with diagnostics, climate control, gauge monitoring, and radio which was revolutionary in its day.  Of all cars made, only Buick Reattas and Rivieras had this feature in those days.  It has all of the power options (working) and a new paint job, battery, brakes, fuel pump and fuel filter.  This Reatta passed NC inspection recently.  MPG is Approx. 18 MPG city and 27 MPG highway.  The car works well and only needs a few fixes:  parking brake cable is stretched and will need to be replaced in the future and a small hole in an exhaust pipe will also need to be repaired,  Reatta forums are available on the internet with other passionate, Reatta owners giving advice and insights into keeping your Reatta in top operating condition.  Please call Sean at 919-261-9633 if additional info. is needed.  I purchased this vehicle on eBay about four years ago where it was located in Rome, GA.  I drove it from GA to NC with no problems.  $500 deposit required, balance on pickup.  Have clear NC title.

Movie Review: Black Air: The Buick Grand National Documentary

Thu, 06 Dec 2012

As Buick currently claws and scratches its way back into relevance to compete against luxury brands like Lexus and Acura, it's hard to believe that not too long ago, the brand had a car that was mentioned in the same breath as Corvette, Lamborghini and Ferrari. That car? None other than the Buick Grand National. All black with a turbocharged V6 and some of the quickest acceleration of its time, the Grand National, in today's standards, is along the lines of a 2013 Shelby GT500 with both cars essentially being a working man's supercar.
The last Grand National rolled off the assembly line in Flint, MI on December 11, 1987, and to mark the silver anniversary of that somber occasion, Black Air is a documentary of the Grand National from the perspective of the enthusiast, the collector, the media and even from those at General Motors responsible for creating such a sinister legend. Like the car itself, Andrew Filippone Jr. shoots the documentary in a raw fashion, and it definitely helps to show why a low-volume muscle car from the 1980s is still the object of obsession for many automotive enthusiasts to this day.

Buick Envision crossover to premiere in China

Tue, 01 Jul 2014

Buick currently offers two crossovers: the compact Encore and the extra-large Enclave, leaving plenty of room to slot a mid-size crossover in between. And that's just what Buick is planning on doing. In China, anyway.
Previewed in the teaser above, Buick's upcoming new crossover is cloaked and nestled in between its aforementioned stablemates-to-be. Set to be unveiled in China sometime later this year, the model has been confirmed to wear the name Envision - at least in that market. That's the name which the concept version wore three years ago, but we're still waiting on word over whether that name will carry over to the US version or whether we should expect something different like Anthem. But we have to admit that Envision fits better in the brand's crossover naming scheme.
Shanghai GM isn't saying much about the Envision in the press release below, aside from it having "dynamic and assertive styling" backed by all-wheel drive and stop/start ignition. The last time Buick offered a mid-size crossover in North America was with the Pontiac Aztek-based Rendezvous that was discontinued seven years ago.

J.D. Power study sees new car dependability problems increase for first time since 1998

Wed, 12 Feb 2014

For the first time since 1998, J.D. Power and Associates says its data shows that the average number of problems per 100 cars has increased. The finding is the result of the firm's much-touted annual Vehicle Dependability Study, which charts incidents of problems in new vehicle purchases over three years from 41,000 respondents.
Looking at first-owner cars from the 2011 model year, the study found an average of 133 problems per 100 cars (PP100, for short), up 6 percent from 126 PP100 in last year's study, which covered 2010 model-year vehicles. Disturbingly, the bulk of the increase is being attributed to engine and transmission problems, with a 6 PP100 boost.
Interestingly, JDP notes that "the decline in quality is particularly acute for vehicles with four-cylinder engines, where problem levels increase by nearly 10 PP100." Its findings also noticed that large diesel engines also tended to be more problematic than most five- and six-cylinder engines.
