1999 Buick Park Avenue Ultra, 68,500 Miles, Loaded, Nice Condition And Clean! on 2040-cars

This Park Avenue was bought by my parents from a local GM dealership in 2002 for over $17,000, with a mileage of 33,212. Mom drove it for a few years, then they bought her something new. Then Dad drove it until he wisely stopped driving due to health problems, and he passed away in Fall of 2012. It has been parked in Mom's covered carport since, but has been driven occasionally or borrowed (by us) when one of our cars was in the shop. Since they rode with us on long trips, this car pretty much had light, gentle use. Dad loved this car and all its bells and whistles. We live where it is very balmy (South Georgia), so there is no salt damage, but there is a new A/C compressor and it has been recently charged, so the air works well. (We roast here without a/c!) It runs well, and all power equipment seems to be working fine. It has a new battery as well. The interior is very clean, but when I was cleaning the back of the driver's seat, a little of the cleaner (not bleach) dripped onto the carpet below and discolored it. I included a photo of it, but the mat can be turned around and that area not seen at all. Just trying to be honest. The leather seats are still in great condition, and the interior is very clean. My parents never smoked in it, or had others that smoked in it. The back of the car does stick out a little from the carport, so the rear bumper has some peeling and fading. Other than that, much of the car has had a good quality, more recent paint job. The color is so dark that it is hard to get photos to show minor things, but I will gladly send more photos to serious buyers. The tires are in very good condition, and should have many more miles on them. The car itself should have many more miles to go! Kelley Blue Book value is about $4600. The tires are in very good condition, and should have many more miles on them. The car has been in one accident of any significance. That was when Mom was in it, stopped and about to turn right out of a gas/convenience store lot. A truck driver had been stopped to run into the store, but he didn't find what he was looking for, jumped in his truck, and was going to turn right at the same place Mom was waiting for a chance to turn. He claimed he didn't see the car, and he essentially shaved the outer panels off the drivers' corner of the car. Of course, the outer panels, the hood, the grille, the left light, the door (maybe both doors) on that side were damaged. Although Mom honked the horn for all she was worth, the truck driver kept on going, took the nearby entrance to the bypass, and stopped at another convenience store near the edge of town, where he was apprehended. Mom was fine, but was told she would have been killed if her door had been open. A little boy witnessed the incident, and his mom brought him over to see that Mom was fine because he was so shaken up. This car is solid, and we are so thankful it protected her well. The shop that did the bodywork on it charges reasonable prices, and over $6,000 was spent in repairs, but they told us the frame was NOT compromised. It was a severe accident in that it could have resulted in injury, and it was over $6,000 to repair the right way. The trucking company did pay (and hopefully, they fired the driver). The owner of the shop that did the repairs is also posting a sale flyer for the car, and he said it was well worth the asking price of $3800. He said "It's a good car", and is offering it to others who have expensive repairs who might want to just buy this one. This is why the paint, the grille, and trim look "younger" than you would expect for a 1999. This car needs to be driven and enjoyed a lot more than it has lately. The Kelley Blue Book value is about $4600. On Jul-21-14 at 21:59:23 PDT, seller added the following information: A few pictures, including views of the tires and of flaws have been posted. It was sprinkling, so there are specks of water on the car in photos, but used opportunity to make sure the wipers work, which they do. Worst interior problem is that Buick should have used a little more material to wrap around some plastic trim on the "door" sides of the front seats. I'm sure this must have happened with all of them, but there is probably a simple way to improve the look. Seatbelt hid it from my notice first time. Drove it a mile or two today, and engine is quiet but has strong acceleration. Stereo was probably hardly used, so I tried the radio, CD, and Cassette, and all work fine. Driver's seat has lumbar adjustment along with standard ones. Seat belts are in very good condition, but could use a little upholstery shampoo. Tires have good tread, and seem to be wearing evenly. Is this car perfect? No, but for its age, it is in amazing condition! |

Next-gen LaCrosse, Cascada convertible coming to Buick showrooms in 2016
Thu, Jul 24 2014It's difficult to overstate how significant the post-bankruptcy years have been for General Motors' Buick brand. Arguably the most improved American automaker, Buick has rounded out its range with an excellent compact in the Verano, a well-balanced midsizer in the Regal and a segment-busting mini-CUV, with the Encore. Seeking to keep that momentum going, the next several years will see the brand address a trio of its most obvious issues. First and foremost will be a replacement for the aging LaCrosse, a vehicle whose only bit of attention since its 2009 debut was a very light refresh in 2013. According to Automotive News, we should expect the next-generation LaCrosse to arrive late next year or early in 2016, as a 2016 model. AN expects big design changes, as Buick attempts to further the LaCrosse from its popular platform-mate, the Chevrolet Impala. The changes won't be so radical, though, as to do away with its front-drive architecture, as the latest version of the Epsilon platform will underpin the next LaCrosse. The 3.6-liter V6 is likely to carry on, although a smaller, budget-minded offering is also extremely likely (we'll eat our hat if it's not the 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder from the Regal, Verano and Cadillac CTS et al.). The other issue plaguing Buick's lineup is a lack of a midsize crossover. This is particularly damning for the brand as most of its showrooms are shared with GMC, which boasts its own midsizer in the form of the Terrain. With the upcoming Envision (see here for teasers), that problem should be addressed. Like the LaCrosse, the Envision will likely be a 2016 model. It will debut and launch in China early next year, while we can expect it to arrive stateside later next year, or even early in 2016. For American consumers, both a 2.5-liter four-cylinder and the aforementioned 2.0T could see action in the Envision. Finally, while Buick can boast a pair of vehicles available with manual transmissions, it's still far from what we'd call a brand for fun driving experiences. Of course, one way of solving that problem is with a two-door convertible. Yes, it's extremely likely that the Euro-market Opel Cascada convertible will be sold in the US early in 2016. Whether it keeps the Cascada name is unclear (all in favor of Skylark, say "aye"). Regardless, adding a reasonably priced, relaxed, two-door droptop to the Buick range to fill the space left by the not-so-dearly departed Chrysler 200 Convertible seems like a no brainer.
Buick tops in Consumer Reports' annual brand rankings
Wed, Feb 25 2015Buick is the first US-based automotive brand to crack the top 10 in Consumer Reports magazine's annual brand report cards. US automakers also placed three vehicles on the magazine's list of "top picks" for vehicles, the first time that's happened in 17 years. The rankings were unveiled Tuesday in the magazine's annual auto issue. Buick placed seventh in the brand rankings. But the brand rankings and top picks still were dominated by Japanese and German manufacturers, with Lexus, Mazda, Toyota, Audi and Subaru taking the top five brand spots. The magazine calculates each brand's overall score with a composite of its vehicles' road-test scores and reliability scores for each model in its annual survey of subscribers. It's the third year for the brand rankings. Porsche placed just ahead of Buick at number six, while Honda, Kia and BMW rounded out the top 10 brands. Mercedes-Benz, Acura and Infiniti all suffered precipitous declines in their rankings due to unreliable new models or poor road test scores. Mercedes fell out of the top 10 to 21st, while Acura dropped from number two to 11 with an unimpressive test of the new RLX sedan, the magazine said. In the model rankings, the top overall finisher was California-based Tesla's Model S electric car, for the second year in a row. The Model S, which cost the magazine $89,650, finished first due to its performance and technical innovations, the magazine said. Buick's Regal midsize car beat the BMW 328i as the top sports sedan, and the Chevrolet Impala was named the top large car. The model rankings show Consumer Reports' favorite among the 270 vehicles its team has recently tested. The rankings are closely watched in the auto industry, since shoppers consistently cite Consumer Reports as a main source of car-buying advice. Other top picks included the Subaru Impreza in the compact car category, Subaru Legacy in midsize cars, Toyota Prius as the best green car, Audi A6 luxury car, Subaru Forester small SUV, Toyota Highlander midsize SUV and the Honda Odyssey minivan. Japanese vehicles won six of 10 top pick categories, but that was the smallest number in the 19-year history of Consumer Reports top picks. "For years domestic automakers built lower-priced and lower-quality alternatives to imports, but those days are behind us," said Jake Fisher, the magazine's director of automotive testing. But other U.S.-based automakers still had problems.
Trademarks indicate Buick Regal wagon could be on the way
Wed, Dec 23 2015American wagon fans have been waiting for General Motors to import a Buick-badged version of the Opel Insignia Sports Tourer since the current Insignia-based Regal hit dealers. If a new patent filing is any indication, that day could be coming soon. Then again, it might not mean anything. AutoGuide reports that Buick has filed two trademarks with the US Patent and Trademark Office for "Motor land vehicles, namely automobiles." You can see the trademarks for "Tourx" and "Regal Tourx" here and here. "Tour" smacks of wagon models, while the "x" – for all-wheel drive – makes us wonder if maybe we'll be seeing a rebadged version of the high-riding Opel Insignia Country Tourer (shown above). This isn't the first time Buick has stoked the hopes of US wagon fans, though. Earlier this year, trademarks were filed for the "Regal Sport Touring," a name that's very close to the Euro-market wagon's title. In fact, that trademark had the same description as the Tourx/Regal Tourx filings. As we've established before, automakers file trademarks all the time. It's far from a guarantee that anything will come of such trademarked names. Still, two wagon-ish filings with the USPTO from Buick in under a year makes it seem like there's at least someone at the Trishield brand that's campaigning for a long-roof Regal. Fight the good fight, friend. Related Video:
