Up for bid is a 1963 Buick LeSabre 2 door coupe factory equipped with a high torque 401 cubic inch 'Nail Head' engine, Dynaflow 2-speed automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes, and 'Sonomatic' radio. This Buick starts, stops, and drives just as smooth as it did when it left the showroom floor. It is an amazingly complete 50-year old classic retaining most of it's original components, even the spare battery-acid glass jar is still firmly secured to the inner fender of the engine bay. The interior still shods the factory carpet, door panels, and seat upholstery however, it is missing the two sunvisors (chrome mounts are present) and the headliner material has been removed but the bows are still installed. The heater controls, radio, and fuel gauge are not working but a new fuel sending unit (still in the box) is included. Also, the power brake pedal is missing it's rubber pad and the headlight switch is missing it's chrome bezel. The glove box contains the original owner's manual and the trunk contains the original bumper jack and lug wrench and a Remington bias ply G78-15 spare tire.
A previous owner has slightly modified this vehicle with dual glasspack mufflers complete with chrome bell flower tail pipes and a "Superflames" flamethrower kit. The exterior has received a matte-black paint finish and the riding height has been lowered slightly. In addition, a remote-controlled Sony AM/FM stereo with MP3 disc player has been installed in the trunk. All lights, glass, trim moldings, and emblems are present and in good condition. The right corner of the rear bumper which serves as the back up light housing has been pulled away from the quarter panel and the bumper has an area of rust-thru adjacent to the this corner. As you will see in the photos, there are several areas of rust bubbles forming under the paint on the hood, trunk, along the trim moldings, and at the lower portion of each door skin, however, the rocker panels, frame, and floor pans of the vehicle are all solid. The engine starts right up, idles smoothly, and accelerates effortlessly with no fluid leaks or overheating. The transmission also operates smoothly and quietly with no fluid leaks. The tires have very good tread remaining and the steering and brake systems operate smoothly also with no fluid leaks. This vehicle is for sale "as-is, where is" so please view all the photos and ask any questions prior to placing your bid. Buyer is responsible for transport of vehicle and I can assist with pick up as needed. Don't delay your bid as I have this vehicle for sale elsewhere and I reserve the right to end this auction at any time if a collector makes an offer I can't refuse. |

Sell-it-yourself: 1998 Buick Century Limited
Wed, May 10 2017Looking to sell your car? We make it safe, easy, and free. Quickly create listings with up to six photos and reach millions of buyers. Log in and create your free listings. Well before Buick was tight with the Chinese, it was working to reconnect with middle class America. Of course, there's the middle class, and then there's the aspirational middle class. For them, near the end of the 20th Century, Buick offered the Buick Century and its better-zip-code derivative, the Century Limited. Having attended the Buick press launch about this time, the Century was – and is – what we'd call tidy in proportion and clean in its detailing. Its interior design and execution might have leaned toward old school, but the exterior surfaces were responsibly devoid of affectation. In short, almost twenty years ago we would have judged this to be sheetmetal that, if not defying age, would have certainly resisted aging. And we'll stand by that today. Our for sale example, nineteen years old and showing just over 111,000 miles, looks to deliver ample bang for the buck, especially when talking only 2,500 of those bucks. From the photos, this Buick seems to have come from a good home, even if the passenger rear door reflects what we used to call a whiskey ding, and is now - probably - a mojito ding. While kicking tires in West Palm Beach, note the custom wheels; they, too, are limited. Shop for the listing here. Buick Car Buying Used Car Buying Ownership Sedan
Buick Encore blitzes first-year sales predictions
Sat, 01 Mar 2014With its first full year of sales in the bag, it's safe to say that Buick has a hit on its hands with the Encore. US buyers have snatched up 31,046 of the small, premium crossovers since the Encore went on sale in January of 2013, while 97,311 were sold globally (not counting its counterparts from Opel and Vauxhall).
While we liked the Encore when we first drove it, we'll admit, we weren't sure how the tiny CUV would do. In fact, the first thing Executive Editor Chris Paukert wrote about the Encore was, "We admit it. We have no earthly idea how this whole thing is going to shake out." But it's done well, and has been subject to heavy demand over the past year, blowing away the estimates of analysts, who, according to an August story from Automotive News, projected no more than 18,500 units would be sold in 2013.
"Right out of the gate, demand for the Encore was high," Tony DiSalle, vice president of Buick marketing said in a statement. "It accounted for most of the segment's growth last year and that's because it offers the right safety, technology and features in the right-sized vehicle for many customers."
Buick Adam a reality after all... but only in China
Mon, 03 Mar 2014General Motors may have parred down its brand portfolio, but it still has more under its umbrella than most. That's why, while a company like Ford might market the same vehicle under its own name in markets around the world, GM uses different brands in different markets. But no two are aligned quite as closely as Opel in Europe and Buick in the United States and China.
What we know here as the Buick Regal is sold overseas as the Opel Insignia. Our Encore is their Mokka. Verano? Astra sedan. But one thing we don't get here is the Opel Adam. The diminutive city car is GM's take on the Mini Cooper, Fiat 500, Citroën DS3 et al. Launched at the 2012 Paris Motor Show, the Opel Adam is named after the company's founder (like an ironic thumbing of the nose to the Ferrari Enzo). But while it's sold, like most Opels, in the UK as a Vauxhall, the prospect of it porting over to Buick seems slim to none. Right?
Sorta. While the Adam isn't likely to come Stateside, the latest reports (as yet unconfirmed by GM) suggest that The General is planning to sell the Adam in China where the Buick brand is also a strong seller. Local production could ensue, with prices targeting the Fiat 500 and engines - according to CarNewsChina.com - to include inline-fours displacing 1.2 and 1.4 liters with 69 and 100 horsepower, respectively.
