Wildcat “445” V8: 401 Nailhead 4V + 3-Speed Buick AT
FRAME-ON
RESTORATIONS: * rebuilt 401 /4V Nailhead “445” V8 * rebuilt Buick 3-speed TH-400 automatic * deep 2-stage metallic Surf Green Paint * custom redone interior, 2-toned seats in thick padded vinyl * all new OEM textured headliner * deep 15” Buick Rally wheels & new radials This Buick
Wildcat was aquired 5 years ago from the second owners They had owned the car
since it was only 4 years old. It was built in California, sold in California
when new and has lived all its life in
California before being brought locally here to WA about a decade ago. This is
one of those rare condition survivors… a very solid California car, very well
taken care of, actual low miles & always well maintained. It has a vintage
TOW PACKAGE for you vintage trailer or boat collectors, with heavy duty setup
that can tow full sized loads with lots of power and 445 lbs. of torque.
I have had
it professionally repainted the factory SURF GREEN metallic paint, in a high
quality 2-stage with clear coat paint done by a local shop noted for show cars.
The body was ground down to bare metals, all little dents removed for flawless
final paint. The paint was a difficult match to get the actual original
metallic color of the Surf Green. The final result was stunning! The Surf Green
has lots of metallic, and deep silver to a touch of gold hues when the sun hits
it. The photos do not do it justice. I
have also recently had the interior fully redone at a professional upholstery
shop that also does show quality cars. All new quality OEM padded loop carpets
that exactly matched the factory color, professionally reupholstered interior
using the very highest quality of materials, a thick Buick Surf Green with cream
vinyl pleated inserts. The car also has a new professionally installed OEM
textured headliner in off white.
This Buick
Special runs and drives very nicely. It has lots of power, handles and drives
easily and shifts cleanly through the gears. The factory & numbers matching
big block 401 Nailhead V8 engine has had a prior rebuild, with not many miles
on it coupled with its fully redone GM Buick 3-speed automatic transmission. The
4-V Nailhead is called the “445” due to the amazing 445 lbs of torque it
produces. You can see by the photos that the original air cleaner and all parts
under the hood are amazing condition. From the newer radiator, to newer
battery, to all new hoses, tune up and belts this car is in top mechanical
condition. This is one of those rare cars that will always fire right up, runs
smooth and strong and can take you across the country without hesitation. I
have had this car on weekend road trips, full freeway speeds and road cruising well
over 70mph and this car is amazing. I elected to keep the vintage heavy duty
tow package on the car, with hopes of someday having a tear drop vintage
trailer to match. Car has the internal adjustable drivers side mirror, full
power brakes and power steering… all in good condition. I am a Buick collector
and have put later model Buick Rally wheels on the car. I have not yet replaced
them back with the original 15” Wildcat rims, which have beautiful new quality
all weather whitewall radials. These will be put back on the car with the rare
set of mint condition factory Wildcat hubcaps. The second set is available to
buyer if desired. Original spare and jack assemblies still in the car. This is
a very early production & RARE 2-dr HT Wildcat in surf green! All exterior chrome are shiny and excellent stainless trims. This car would make a great “Low Rider” or keep stock for weekend car shows, cruisin town or family fun. It always gets a “thumbs up” … “cool car” or “nice car!” wherever it goes. Top-of-the-line 2018 Buick Regal TourX costs $43,795
Tue, Nov 28 2017Buick has unveiled an online configurator for the 2018 Regal TourX wagon, and it shows that picking the full suite of premium options puts the sport wagon at $43,795. That prices it under its Regal GS Sportback sibling and competitors like the Volvo V60 Cross Country and Audi A4 Allroad. The luxury hatchback starts at $29,995 and is available in three trim options: TourX 1SV, Preferred ($33,575) and Essence ($35,945). All are powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that puts out 250 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque and drives an eight-speed automatic transmission. Intelligent all-wheel-drive with active twin-clutch, start-stop technology and 18-inch painted aluminum wheels are also standard. There are eight exterior color options, including Sport Red and Summit White for no extra charge, and two options for the interior at no extra charge. Driver Confidence package options come with things like LED headlamps, 4-way lumbar seat adjuster and rear park assist for $1,725, and various driver-assist technologies including adaptive cruise control and forward collision alert for an additional $1,190. A panoramic moonroof will set you back $1,200. At 73.5 cubic feet with the second-row seats folded down, Buick says the TourX boasts more overall cargo space than the Subaru Outback, Volvo V60 Cross Country, Audi A4 Allroad and BMW 3-series Sport Wagon. The rear hatch area offers 32.7 cubic feet with the seats up.Related Video:
May 2016: FCA wins, Ford and GM stumble on weak car volumes
Wed, Jun 1 2016The May 2016 sales numbers are in, and it looks as though FCA is getting some vindication for boldly cancelling two slow-selling car models. Meanwhile, Ford saw overall sales dip and GM's May volume took a big dive versus the same month in 2015. While Marchionne's decision to axe the Chrysler 200 and Dodge Dart has drawn criticism as being short-sighted, it's working for FCA so far. Although the Dart and 200 aren't out of production yet and no capacity has been shifted to crossover or trucks, May's numbers show that the emphasis on Jeep and Ram models makes sense right now. FCA's US sales rose 1 percent last month compared to May 2015, putting the year-to-date total at 955,186 vehicles, an increase of 6 percent compared to the same period last year. Standouts included the Jeep Renegade, Compass, and Patriot, and the Fiat 500X. Ram pickup sales were down 3 percent. And your fun fact is that Alfa Romeo sales were up precisely 10 percent, for a total of 44 4Cs sold versus 40 in the same month last year. At FoMoCo, the Ford brand took a hit to the tune of 6.4 percent from May 2015 to 2016, registering 226,190 sales last month. Lincoln showed improvement on its modest numbers, going from 9,174 to 9,807, a 6.9 percent increase. Overall, Ford was down 5.9 percent for the month to 235,997; despite the slump, year-to-date total Ford sales are up 4.2 percent to 1,112,939. Strong sellers included Escape, Expedition, F-Series, and Transit - big stuff. Most small and/or efficient models (Fiesta, Focus, Fusion, C-Max) saw sales slides. Fusion sales were also down, likely due to effects of model changeover to the freshened 2017 model. Ford has promised four new crossovers and SUVs by 2020 and if things keep trending this way the company will be able to sell them, but things could change in the next four years. GM saw the worst of it for domestic brands. Retail and fleet sales were down for each of the four divisions, with the May 2016 total dropping 18 percent to 240,450 vehicles. GM's year-to-date sales are down 5.0 percent in 2016 to 1,183,705. Both the Sierra and Silverado were down significantly, and the majority of Chevy, Buick, GMC, and Cadillac nameplates saw sales decreases, with both small cars and larger utilities included. Not even big stuff could help GM this month, it seems. We'll have more on the rest of the industry's May sales as those figures trickle in.
1969 Chevrolet Chevelle vs 1987 Buick GNX in Generation Gap showdown
Wed, 15 Oct 2014Generation Gap generally tries to adhere to a theme for each episode, and for the final video from the Lingenfelter collection, the series might have its best idea yet - limited-production muscle cars from General Motors.
On one side you get a 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle COPO, and it's an absolute sleeper. Other than the SS wheels, this classic coupe looks practically bone stock, at least until the engine fires up. Under the hood is a 427-cubic-inch (7.0-liter) V8 making a claimed 425 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. This was the sole year for the COPO package on the Chevelle, and Chevy only made about 323 of them.
The Chevelle's challenger is almost as rare and arguably just as cool. The 1987 Buick Grand National GNX looks just as mean today as when new. It eschews a traditional muscular V8 in favor of a 3.8-liter turbo V6 making a claimed 276 hp and 360 lb-ft, although that number is supposedly a bit underrated. Also, just 547 examples of the GNX version were ever built making it quite a collector's item too.
