This auction is for a 1973 Buick Centurion 2 door sport coupe with clear Iowa title. It runs, but has an engine knock. Brakes, stops. This is a project vehicle, needing at a minimum an engine rebuild.
It is a 2 door coupe with what is known as the High Performance option, which means a big valve 455 and dual exhaust. This car came from Idaho, where it was elderly owned for it's entire life, well cared for and the odometer shows around 34,500 miles, which are believed to be original, based on the closing of the doors and other issues.
It came off the trailer when delivered running with an audible engine knock. I have driven it locally for 3 1/2 years, then finally got it into the garage and starting reducing it for a restoration project. I am no longer interested in putting in the time and expense to restore the car as I am getting older and never have the time to work on cars.
My descriptions are honest. I have over $2500 in the car and my starting bid is very fair, with no reserve and represents a huge cash loss. Crusher price is around $250 here.
This would be a shame to crush or part out as these are nice looking cars restored or in original shape and are great road cars. This one is equipped very well with the following options or standard features:
1. High Performance Option
2. Power 40/60 seat in deluxe clothe (available through SMS)
3. Rear window defroster new style in glass
4. Manual windows
5. Power steering / air conditioning / power brakes.
The body on this car and the floor pans are overall very nice. The RUST consists of pinholes in the lower rear quarter which can be saved. Rust has also hit the trunk molding rail which is still OK, but is not perfect.
Interior
Interior needs some restoration. The seats will need redone but the fabric is available from SMS. Dash pad is cracked but I have a couple of decent dash pads. Door panels and other interior vinyl just need cleaning. Glass is good all around.
There is a dent as pictured on the right front fender, but it's simple and not compound.
Engine and drivetrain
The engine started and ran fine and I believe the car will load on a trailer without issue. I removed the battery at the start of reduction for restoration. The HOOD is stored on the property, this car is sold complete.
Grille and bumpers are decent. Standard non posi rear axle, no four note horns. PS and PBrakes always worked well. I basically just yard drove this around until I had garage space. It has been garaged for 2 years, heated and air conditioned so there has been no further deterioration. It's a nice project for not a lot of money.
Has 4-5 Buick road wheels original to the car. What else can I tell you? I can be reached at 515-520-2611 or through ebay. This is a no reserve auction intended to move the car to someone who can restore it. HAS CLEAR IOWA TITLE in my name for easy transfer of ownership.
Thanks for looking.

GM expanding Lansing Lambda CUV plant
Thu, 30 Oct 2014Considering that crossovers are a rapidly growing portion of the US auto market, it's not surprising to hear that General Motors is preparing to build even more of them. The company is investing $63 million to expand its Lansing Delta Township Assembly plant that builds Lambda platform CUVs like the Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia and Buick Enclave.
According to GM, the expansion will add roughly 263,000 extra square feet of space to the plant. Of that, 181,000 square feet will be for an updated body shop with cutting-edge robots. There will also be 54,000 square feet of additional room in the paint shop and 28,000 square feet of more area for general assembly.
GM isn't saying as much, but there is the possibility that this extra space could allow for additional models produced at the factory. Cadillac reportedly dropped plans to build a three-row SUV on the Lambda platform earlier this year, however, dealers for the luxury brand were recently pitched the possibility of adding large and small CUVs, an ATS convertible or a sedan below the ATS.
GM won't really kill off the Chevy Volt and Cadillac CT6, will it?
Fri, Jul 21 2017General Motors is apparently considering killing off six slow-selling models by 2020, according to Reuters. But is that really likely? The news is mentioned in a story where UAW president Dennis Williams notes that slumping US car sales could threaten jobs at low-volume factories. Still, we're skeptical that GM is really serious about killing those cars. Reuters specifically calls out the Buick LaCrosse, Cadillac CT6, Cadillac XTS, Chevrolet Impala, Chevrolet Sonic, and the Chevrolet Volt. Most of these have been redesigned or refreshed within the past few model years. Four - the LaCrosse, Impala, CT6, and Volt - are built in the Hamtramck factory in Detroit. That plant has made only 35,000 cars this year - down 32 percent from 2016. A typical GM plant builds 200,000-300,000 vehicles a year. Of all the cars Williams listed, killing the XTS, Impala, and Sonic make the most sense. They're older and don't sell particularly well. On the other hand, axing the other three seems like an odd move. It would leave Buick and Cadillac without flagship sedans, at least until the rumored Cadillac CT8 arrives. The CT6 was a big investment for GM and backing out after just a few years would be a huge loss. It also uses GM's latest and best materials and technology, making us even more skeptical. The Volt is a hugely important car for Chevrolet, and supplementing it with a crossover makes more sense than replacing it with one. Offering one model with a range of powertrain variants like the Hyundai Ioniq and Toyota Prius might be another route GM could take. All six of these vehicles are sedans, Yes, crossover sales are booming, but there's still a huge market for cars. Backing away from these would be essentially giving up sales to competitors from around the globe. The UAW might simply be publicly pushing GM to move crossover production to Hamtramck to avoid closing the plant and laying off workers. Sales of passenger cars are down across both GM and the industry. Consolidating production in other plants and closing Hamtramck rather than having a single facility focus on sedans might make more sense from a business perspective. GM is also trying to reduce its unsold inventory, meaning current production may be slowed or halted while current cars move into customer hands. There's a lot of politics that goes into building a car. GM wants to do what makes the most sense from a business perspective, while the UAW doesn't workers to lose their jobs when a factory closes.
Leno recalls '90s showdown with Tim Allen and his mullet
Wed, Oct 7 2015Not many of us have buddies with garages full of classic cars, but that isn't the case for Jay Leno and Tim Allen. Of course, one of the advantages for two guys with such vast collections is occasionally getting to pit their cars against each other. The two comedians did just that in the mid-'90s with a burnout battle on The Tonight Show between Allen in a race-prepped Mustang and Leno in a drag racer. After some time away from regular television, Leno is returning to the airwaves with a Jay Leno's Garage series premiering on Oct. 7 (tonight) at 10:00 p.m. ET on CNBC. Let this clip serve as another taste of what to expect for the new TV show's mix of comedy and cars. After reminiscing about the old days in a gorgeous garage, the comedians get into two modern machines to reprise the classic challenge – after a little trash talk anyway. Don't worry because the YouTube series isn't going anywhere, though.
