                                                                           1972 BUICK LESABRE CUSTOM COUPE

Hello fullsize GM car fans, up for sale is a 1972 Buick Lesabre custom coupe. This Buick has a really great running buick 350 with four barrel carb and auto transmission (Turbo 350). Great looking car with decent interior. Added Buick wheels and will give an extra one or two if I can find it along with the deal. Also I am including a mint green dash to replace the cracked on in the Buick. This Lesabre has never been cut up interior and exterior wise. Pretty much all stock down to the wheels. If your looking for an affordable cruiser for the family or maybe trying to find the one to replace another one you or your family had years ago, this would be a great purchase.

As mentioned, the engine runs strong and healthy, just flip of the ignition and she fires up, has a holley 4 barrel carb now, though have the original Q-jet 4 barrel in the trunk. Body wise the Lesabre is pretty clean with a few minor rust spots (see photos) and a mild crease after the driver's door panel. The passenger side rear floor pan has minor rust through though the rest of the floors and trunk are clean! The vinyl top was pretty badly torn so I removed it and wanted to see if there was any rust hiding, the rust areas are in the lh and rh lower rear glass areas (see photos) no other rust on the roof at all, solid! I made the mistake to prime the roof with a terrible quality black primer on a hot day and the result was not my proudest moment to say the least. Also I was surprised to find filler on the rear roof seams where the rear pillars meet the roof when I was wire wheeling what was left of the old vinyl roof off. I did research on this and you can do the same, it seams that all vinyl roof cars back in the day, at least from GM used filler for all vinyl roof cars because the vinyl hid all the blemishes. The non vinyl roof cars used lead and extra attention was spent on them.

The Buick needs some minor electrical work, driver's side tail lamp does not light up, and dash lights, wipers and heater switch don't come on, I haven't checked the fuses yet (I'll leave the minor work to the new owner part of the car bonding thing). The master cylinder needs to be replaced though still works, though change it if you are going to drive it. The rest of the fluids and filters should be changed as well and tires look good though are not the greatest tread. The front bumper is bent up a somewhat (see photos) and the exhaust hangs low (let the transport company that will pick the Buick up know this).
With some TLC this Buick Lesabre would be a great car show cruiser and a special car in a sea of Impalas and Chevelles. You don't see too many 1971-73 Big Buicks anymore and this would also be a great hot rod with a 455 and turbo 400 with GS treatment or the affordable alternative to the same year Impalas and Caprices.

Please only bid if you are serious, all negative and 0 bidders contact me before bidding (I will cancel your bids if you don't).  I will require a $300 non refundable deposit via pay pal 48 hrs after auction ends. The rest of the balance to be in 7 days after auction ends. I bank with chase and had great luck with wire transfers to my account. You just deposit the funds (I have to make sure they clear if a legal bank cashiers check before the Buick and title goes). Or you can send a authorized bank check (no scammers) and would have to wait to clear before the Buick & title leaves.  The new owner is 100% responsible for picking up the Buick and shipping and the Buick can stay no longer than 3 weeks after transaction is made successfully. Once the Buick leaves on the truck I will certify mail the title via US mail and only the new owner can sign for it upon arrival. The Buick is sold AS IS and WHERE IS, thanks for reading and if you have any questions or need any other photographs just let me know. Happy bidding!

A car writer's year in new vehicles [w/video]

Thu, Dec 18 2014

Christmas is only a week away. The New Year is just around the corner. As 2014 draws to a close, I'm not the only one taking stock of the year that's we're almost shut of. Depending on who you are or what you do, the end of the year can bring to mind tax bills, school semesters or scheduling dental appointments. For me, for the last eight or nine years, at least a small part of this transitory time is occupied with recalling the cars I've driven over the preceding 12 months. Since I started writing about and reviewing cars in 2006, I've done an uneven job of tracking every vehicle I've been in, each year. Last year I made a resolution to be better about it, and the result is a spreadsheet with model names, dates, notes and some basic facts and figures. Armed with this basic data and a yen for year-end stories, I figured it would be interesting to parse the figures and quantify my year in cars in a way I'd never done before. The results are, well, they're a little bizarre, honestly. And I think they'll affect how I approach this gig in 2015. {C} My tally for the year is 68 cars, as of this writing. Before the calendar flips to 2015 it'll be as high as 73. Let me give you a tiny bit of background about how automotive journalists typically get cars to test. There are basically two pools of vehicles I drive on a regular basis: media fleet vehicles and those available on "first drive" programs. The latter group is pretty self-explanatory. Journalists are gathered in one location (sometimes local, sometimes far-flung) with a new model(s), there's usually a day of driving, then we report back to you with our impressions. Media fleet vehicles are different. These are distributed to publications and individual journalists far and wide, and the test period goes from a few days to a week or more. Whereas first drives almost always result in a piece of review content, fleet loans only sometimes do. Other times they serve to give context about brands, segments, technology and the like, to editors and writers. So, adding up the loans I've had out of the press fleet and things I've driven at events, my tally for the year is 68 cars, as of this writing. Before the calendar flips to 2015, it'll be as high as 73. At one of the buff books like Car and Driver or Motor Trend, reviewers might rotate through five cars a week, or more. I know that number sounds high, but as best I can tell, it's pretty average for the full-time professionals in this business.

Ford, Toyota clean up in Best Car For The Money Awards

Fri, 22 Feb 2013

The U.S. News Best Cars for the Money Awards picks winners by looking at the average transaction price, five-year total cost of ownership, the regard a car has from the automotive press, reliability figures from J.D. Power and Associates and safety data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The result, according to the magazine, is "the best combination of critical acclaim and long-term value."
Ford nabbed six of the 21 categories that received awards this year, the Focus, Fusion, Fusion Hybrid, Taurus, Escape and Edge getting trophies. Toyota and its Lexus and Scion sub-brands took another five, the Tacoma and Tundra owning the two categories given to pickup trucks. The other ten awards were split between Honda with three, Buick with two, and one each for Subaru, BMW, Hyundai, Chevrolet and Mazda.

GM recalling 135,000 SUVs with plastic jacks that can break

Sat, Jun 19 2021

General Motors is recalling 135,400 compact crossovers because their emergency jack can break under load. The problem occurs when the jack — which is plastic — isn't positioned correctly as detailed in the owner's manual. This can cause the jack to fracture. If the jack breaks and the vehicle collapses, there's a risk of injury or death, according to an NHTSA recall alert. The recall involves the 2020-22 Buick Encore GX and 2021-22 Chevrolet Trailblazer. A GM test driver discovered the problem when he broke a jack during a durability test on a Trailblazer. GM started investigating in April and found 21 claims of jack failures, including one reported injury. "This jack design may not be sufficiently robust against fractures if improperly or incorrectly positioned on the vehicle frame by the user," a NHTSA safety report said. GM will start notifying vehicle owners July 26. It will provide free replacement jacks that are made of metal.   Featured Gallery 2021 Buick Encore GX View 21 Photos Recalls Buick Chevrolet GM
